“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

I stayed at the Amalia Hotel Nauplia as part of a tour. It was for only one night, but it was the best hotel I had throughout my tour of Greece. The room was very spacious, clean and the bathroom was huge. The hotel is about 10 minutes drive out of town. The rooms are so quiet and the beds are very comfortable. The food for breakfast and dinner was also very good. The hotel has free WIFI in the hotel lobby.

We were booked at the Amalia chain through a Globus tour. This location is isolated from the city of Naupia and there are no nearby shops. Further, the hotel itself lacks an adequate shop for sundries, etc. The hotel, which is quite large, is owned by a tour company and is designed for bus tour groups. The food for groups was plentiful and of good quality. Beds were small by North American standards, but OK. Staff was quite helpful. English is spoken throughout Greece and especially at hotels. There is a large swimming pool and our tour scheduled enough time for using it. Pool maintenance could have been better.

Room Tip: Because of the hotel's size, if given a choice, pick a room closer to the front desk and pool.

Beautiful hotel. Nice large rooms. Good food in buffet. Lovely pool area & grounds. Only complaint is it's quite far from town so not easily walk-able.

Stayed 1 night here in October as part of a conducted tour of Greek historical sites. The hotel is large with very good common areas. The rooms are a bit tired and dated and could do with refurbishment, but were fine for an overnight stopover. Had dinner and breakfast buffets at the hotel and these were good. The hotel is well out of town, so you wouldn't stay here if you wanted to walk into Nafplion.

Most of what has been written in the reviews below is true.

We stayed at this hotel because we were two adults and three children and finding a room or connecting room in the city proper was impossible. Also, in retrospect we were happy we stayed here because we were on a long trip and had four extremely large and heavy suitcases with us. It would have been impossible to park our car at many of the cute boutique hotels in the city center where no cars are allowed, and carting all of our luggage would have been a huge burden. In that respect the Amalia was quite convenient. You really do need a car to stay here, although I think the drive from the city center is closer to ten minutes than 20. Parking in the city is not a problem--there is plenty available on the wharf.

The rooms are large and comfortable enough--not particularly luxurious but okay. The lobby of the hotel appears quite large and elegant, except there is almost no staff. The lack of staff makes the entire enterprise seem deserted and a bit creepy. And yes, some of the front desk people are oddly rude, or maybe just very very odd.

Also, even though it is a "hotel" there is no food service available outside a limited period for breakfast and lunch. So if you arrive starving at 4 pm, you are out of luck and need to look elsewhere for sustenance.

Nafplion is ultra touristy and it was nice to be able to take a short ride and escape back to the Amalia. Even with its drawbacks, we would stay here again.

This was a great spot for Nafplio. This was the most convenient hotel of our trip. Affordable connecting rooms made this a very comfortable spot for our family. We booked early to get good rates. The pool was huge and enjoyed everyday by our kids and us. Breakfast buffet was huge and convenient. We had a rental car and so driving in to Nafplio for dinner each night was not an issue. It's about a 5-10 minute drive. We did have a few small red ants on our bathroom counter each day but did not have any other cleanliness issues and they seemed to be isolated to that one spot. I did not bother telling the front desk about them. The hotel has free wireless in public areas and wired internet in the rooms. I brought an AirPort with me and, voila, we had free wireless right in our room with great signal strength.

Stayed there many times in the past and i still choose it due to its peacefull atmosphere after a business day which makes you very tired.
Very spacious rooms with nice garden view and the castle of Palamidi a kitke bit far away, anyway.

Very good initial design as the functionality of sites, and proportions of tumors. More than sufficient public spaces and the spaces of the rooms. Largest parking terrace on the configuration and the ability to diffuse natural light to interiors of the hotel. Satisfactory breakfast in the amount (minus the juice and coffee filter), helpful and courteous staff
Wifi offer in charge but speed was very poor.
