We flew to Munich airport which was cheaper than flying to Innsbruck from dublin and have more frequent flights (Innsbruck only tuesdays and saturdays) took u-bahn or s-bahn from Munich airport to Hauptbanhof station (about 40 minutes)and from there got a regional train directly to Seefeld, the journey took about 2 and a half hours but the views were lovely and we were very lucky that it was already snowing which made the scenery even better! Tha trainstation is right in the centre of Seefeld, from there we took a taxi to the apartment Landhaus Charlotte, which is only about 10 mins walk to the centre and a free bus runs regularly throughout the day and stops right outside the apartment. Landhaus charlotte are lovely apartments, very clean, friendly owner and the location is beautiful, also right across from it there is a nice mountain restaurant, very cosy in typical tirolean style, we went for hot choccolate in the evenings to warm up, in one of the rooms they had a nice open fire, i also had a really nice mushroom soup. the ski slopes are at the bottom of the hill from Landhaus Charlotte and very close to the town centre. We went ice-skating in the skating rink near the church, there they also hire out skis for cross country skiing and sledges are only €5 euro to hire. In the town square there are horse and carriages, we went on one and it took us through the forest, it was lovely! And it only cost €36 for 5 of us for 45 minutes. The only bad points about seefeld were the shops which are very expensive apart from the souvenir ones and the nightlife which was nearly non existent, i don`t know if its because of the time of year we went, but there really aren`t many pubs for young people its mostly full of old people. Overall though i really, really liked Seefeld, its a very nice village with lots to do during the day and very traditional looking. the supermarket is great i thought, and a lot of the things like cheese and alcohol were very cheap, and there is so much choice! I would definately go back to Seefeld again. as soon as i download the photos i will post them through.

Just back from a week in Seefeld in Tirol. (November 2008)
We stayed in an apartment at the Hotel Hochegg which is about 7 minutes walk from the town.
We did a few day trips whilst there; Innsbruck by train €11 for 3 of us (1 adult 2 kids), Salzburg by train €182 for the 3 of us and Munich, €45.
As we went out of season a few of the shops and restaurants in Seefeld were closed but most were still open. Can recommend Hawaii Pizza opposite the station.

There is a large supermarket 'Billa' which is similat to Lidl/Aldi, and a Spar shop in the town.
There was plenty to see in Seefeld itself and we also got the bus to Mosern to see the Peace Bell and we walked back to Seefeld which took about one hour. Bus cost €6.60 one way.

We enjoyed out stay and it snowed on the last day quite heavily so it looked more beautiful!

Was not to sure what to expect before we arrived and as a 3rd time skier, my previous two times in Lapland, the mountains and slopes looked very steep in comparison. The town was lovely, very authentic buildings, lovely shops, restaurants and bars.

Started off skiing over the back of our hotel on the nursery slopes which was fine - good contours so a choice of gentle or more steep terrain and not too busy when ski school was not about.

Progressed onto the Roschutte which has a couple of good slopes at the bottom to get accustomed to, one steeper than the other, serviced by a t-bar.

Can go up Roschutte by chair or by Funicular the chair goes slightly further up on the blue run but we just used the Funicular which took you up to the station and a restaurant. The slopes at the top are very wide, there are a couple of steeper sections which flatten off then you can go under the funicular to the right and come down and lovely gentle blue it does get a little narrow towards the end but its not steep so is fine.

Eventually went over to Gschwandkopf which may look daunting to some but once you're up there it's not too bad, there are not too many steeper bits if you find the right way down although it is wide so you may find yourself on the wrong side and have to traverse to find a less steep part. The best run is over the back a lovely blue run with hardly anybody on it. You can get back up to the top by drags but you have to come down the front side to finish as the free ski bus does not go round the back of the mountain.

The restaurants on the mountains are very good and the scenery as you would expect is stunning.

The ski area is not extensive but the place is lovely and the people very friendly so it's well worth a visit. Mainly blues and reds with 1 black run.

One of the most beautiful walks in summer, starting from the bottom of the chair lifts, is the walk to Mosern. I suggest that you take the chair lift to the top, to save your legs on a steep up hill climb. Follow the first signs to Mosern, past the restaurant on the right. You will come to the pond shown in photo insert. The walk levels to a downhill gradient. The walk will last approximately one and a half hours and incorporates many spectacular views down into the valley. You know you have arrived in Mosern when you come to a small roadside chapel on your left, when the path joins the road. Carry on, turning left downhill on the pavement to get into Mosern village. Mosern is a quiet village but you can buy refreshments here, before your walk back. The walk back is not too bad but if you are not up to walking up hill you can walk back on the opposite side of the main road, where it is a mostly a flat walk through woodland. See you this summer? William Gate?
