“Charming hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

This hotel is situated in a most charming town, Orchha in India. It is very comfortable, has a lovely poolarea and large rooms. In the town there is an old temple, Rai Mahal on an iland in river Betwa worth a visit. The hindus have Rama Raja, a tempel with lots of activities, prayers and singing all the time.

After the long trip from Agra in a very terrible road (Agra-Gwalior-Orchha), it was a great experience to reach this hotel, which is a beautiful building by itself with a great view of the temples. Rooms are large and clean with good service. Orchha is a place that worth a couple of nights despite the small size of the town and this could be the place to be and relax. The food in the restaurant is something that they could improve big time and even use the great garden and terrace for entertainment and amenities.
The Hindu food is for tourists (not that original...) and there is an spa that looks promising.

We were here with a women's group and on Holi Day. The rooms surrounded an inner courtyard with lovely flowers. Not very quiet as the tiles along the corridor carried all sound. However, the rooms were large, well appointed and very clean. We ate breakfast on the terrace which was delightful as compared to the noisy restaurant. Unfortunately the pool was closed, but would have loved to enjoy a swim after a day of sightseeing.

Easy to walk into town ... would highly recommend it.

Very nice and so beautiful. The view was really worth your time. Staff was warm and very helpful. Everyone was always smiling. Love it. Clean, and AC was great, as it was so humid. Love their dinner service. Great laundry service, only took a day and had it ready for me.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

I hv cme across worst hotels then this one, so be honest i wont call it bad, its a decent place to be be, now my points for calling it average
1. At the time of checkin, we wede two families, we werent really greeted with a smile, and with great request they gave room near to reception. ( due to rains we didnt wanted to go on the outside rooms)
2. During checkin, there were few foreign tourist checking in with us, now we being indians, were firstly not greeted with flower garland like the other couple next to us nor a welcome drink (now that shows the cheapness of the staff)
3. We decided to hv lunch but as we were late we were being offered chinese food menu, the food took almost 40 mins to arrive, mind it there was just two other families there.
4. Now the quality of food, to be honest if u even go to hawkers in india u will get better taste food, paneer in noodles??? Whyyy?? Club sandwich, bread sooo hard and huge it can tear tissues in your mouth. We thought dinner will b better, but as they had foreign tourist there was very lomited indian food just daal and one kofta?? Whyyy ? U can always treat foreign tourists with mouth watering indian food which they all enjoy..the staff not courtious at all , whn askd hw much more time for food the guy got pritty irritated and rude.
5. Coming to room it was nicely done up, clean bedsheets towels, ac working properly, beds a little too high better provide stools for short ppl, though it was ok for my height
6. Now coming to the bathroom( honestly the most most imp for me) according to my standards i wont call it clean, the toilet pot was pritty old, water clogging in washbasin, the handle of the hand shower was just left with inner rod, shower curtain, from white to muddy, bathtub leeks badly after the shower, and yes few stains ( of i dont kno what) here and there.. Honesy if they clean the bathroom nicely removing stains and cleaning the pot properly it wont be that bad.. And yes the wash basin tap was broken..
7. Evening dinner we called food in room, the potatoes were staled, and whn askd to cancel, the waiter came and said i got it canceled, in a way as he did a favor on us. And mind it they wont leave unless u ask them ease go or tip them ..
8. When asked abt the manager , we wanted to speak to him regarding morning racism in my own country, we were told he is sleeping ..
9. THIS IS NOT A HERITAGE PROPERTY, MIND IT JUST built IN TRADITIONAL DESIGN in 13 years back..

So to conclude if u are a foreign tourist you will be welcomed and be shown good hospitality, indians well we know how to make our way and get the hospitality out of such idiots..

We toured this hotel in August---and it's a beautiful location and nicely designed property. we also saw one of the rooms-- looks well appointed and quite comfy. They were sold out, so instead we had a nice long lunch on their terrace (not in the rather noisy restaurant). Food and service was excellent. The views of the centopaths are really beautiful from this hotel's back terrace--- worth photos! Comparing this to Bundelkand Resort, though, i would probably pick Bundelkand--- which is so charming and quaint.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

I stayed here with my wife and 2-year-old son in late June. That is off season for Orchha and the place was not very crowded. It was very humid outside and we chose to spend most of the time within the extra large super deluxe room we were allotted. The room is a real attraction as it has so much space that my toddler son could run around and play. There is a separate four seat dining table and we had most of our meals in the room.
The hotel has a great view of the cenotaphs and good gardens. It is also walking distance from most of the other monuments. The hotel cab was also good.
The food was excellent most of the time, except for the last day when it appeared mediocre. It felt like the head chef was on leave that day.
Book in and you will not regret the experience.

Room Tip: If you need the spa, check it is available on those days. Ask for the room with a view of the cenota...
