“The friendliest and most helpfull management in India”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

The best guesthouse in Hampi. Beautiful rooftop where you can do yoga, or simply chill out, rooms are nice and clean, hot water, fast wifi and spacious. I was going to stay 3 days, and ended up staying 8, thanks to the beauty of Hampi and the friendliness of Rocky and his family.
Without doubt the best think was the management, Rocky and his family and staff were extremely. Being greet every morning by their huge smiles was priceless. They were available to answer every question about India, and even about life! They have a travel desk and know by heart every schedule of every bus and train.I felt more like visiting a friend than in a guesthouse. Rocky was so chilled out and friendly. I can't recommend him strongly enough.

Room Tip: I stayed in the double rooms upstairs and they were very spacious

Arriving in Hampi is stressful, we were hounded by tuk tuk drivers and made our own way until deciding on Rocky's.

The room we had was small but clean and we had a hot working shower. They don't serve food but there are plenty of really good restaurants in town, Princes was one of our favourites as well as Evergreen.

Rocky (the owner) is very helpful and sorted us out a bus to Bangalore at a really reasonable rate.

The mosquitoes are pretty fierce in Hampi, so make sure you have plenty of spray with you and a good mosquito net.

You can hire bicycles to cycle around all the historic sites which are really spectacular, really recommend visiting Hampi.

Arrived in Hampi expecting to spend only a couple of days here and spent a week in Rocky Guesthouse. Rocky is very friendly with good english and accomodating. As a young female traveller their family made me feel safe and welcome. The rooms are basic (no sheets or blankets to sleep under) but very clean and the bathrooms have modern tiles and fittings and are also clean. There is hot water, although it can be tempermental. Rooms come with a small towel, mosquito net, toilet paper, fan, plenty of good lights, free wifi, clean pilliw covers and sheets for the beds. I paid Rs 800 per night for a double room, but in the off season the price was 500. This is the best value room Ive found in India so far, lovely atmosphere and location. Rocky also has a cheap good restaurant at the end of the road. He also books trains etc for Rs 100 commission, on the slightly more expensive end, but good quick service when getting on a train or bus can be difficult.
Laundry is Rs10 per piece. I think its machine wash now as i heard what sounded like a washing machine, but not 100% sure. My clothes came baxk smelling great anyway.
Definitely reccommend trying this place before any others in Hampi.

Room Tip: Rooms on upper floor are approx Rs 200 more and are quieter with better bed sheets. I think only 1 r...

After I arrived in Hampi, I've visited six guesthouses before I decided which one I would take.
Eventually, I picked Rocky Guesthouse; a cute pink-and-yellow guesthouse located in the center of Hampi, for a very reasonable price. I felt home here right when I got here. The staff is friendly and their service is really good; they were able to book me a train ticket to Hyderabad (and traintickets are quiet hard to get)!
Hampi is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to: the enchanted rocky scenery, with rice fields, palmtrees, gorgeous temples, monkees, squirrels and cows all over the place. The atmosphere is great. I've spent three nights in Hampi, but many people can stay here for like a week or two.
Hampi is a true highlight for your travelling through South-India, and Rocky is a very pleasant guesthouse to stay. You won't regret it!
Floris.

Room Tip: My room was on the ground floor and was great!

Admittedly, Hampi as a World Heritage Site is extra-ordinary. However, the town of Hampi is dirty, with bad food and full of cow dung and has a shortage of good rooms, although Rocky's Guest House is bearable. The tuk tuk drivers at Hospet station are quite competitive because they don't only get a fee for the ride but also a commission from the guest house where they drop you. We were enticed by cable tv, but it did not include foreign channels. A redeeming feature is the shower with piping hot water, one of the best we found in India. One word of warning, don't ask Rocky for prices on taxis to Goa; he inflates them enormously. Go out and find your own deal!

Basic but comfortable rooms, the bathroom is a bit disgusting because they are old. Very accommodating staff for check in and departure times, they also book train, plane, bus, and excursion tickets. Make sure you negotiate your room rate down because they over value their rooms and there are tons of guest houses of the same quality in the area. laundry service was ok - clothes smelt clean but there was still dirt on them. This is because they were hand washed. Avoid doing laundry here.
