“All round superb -- make sure you do the walking safaris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

Thoroughly recommended. Great welcoming friendly staff and super service. Comfortable suit. Hot water when requested, and electricity from the generator during the evening hours. Agatha was our guide for three days of walking safaris around the local community and down to Lake Mutanda and Kisoro -- she was excellent: great fun, informative and interesting... she really made our stay. Thank you.

First, second, no, third time we have been in the Nkuringo Gorilla Camp and yes, we feel at home. This is such a lovely place. The magnificent environment and the beautiful ecological camp, we always want to go back. And everytime it gets better. Now there is a very nice terrace near the dinningroom, where we enjoyed drinking a Nile, and even had there dinner by candle light. The staff is great. They took friendly care of us with concern and humour. The food is very good, especially the bread, I learned to bake together with Herbert. The chef-cook Victoria took very good care of my vegetarian menu.
We enjoyed the walking safari's with Asgario, very beautiful, lot's of birds, butterfly's, monkey's.
Nkuringo Walking Safaris has good guides, this year we also meet Agatha, Nestor and Everist, a superb team!
When you stay at this camp, the Youth Group always comes to sing and dance for you. The children love to do this for you, it very beautiful and so you taste a little of their culture.
So again, thank you all very much, we enjoyed it to be with you again, and maybe see you .......
Kale kale,

What a nice place! We really enjoyed our stay, we can recommend to stay here at least three nights, because there is are a lot of other activities in the aera than only a visit to the gorilla’s! The rooms are nice and comfortable, the only downside is that you have to walk quite a long way to the communal toilets and showers (thats why we don't give it the rate excellent). When we visited this place there were only 2 toilets and 2 showers for 6 rooms which is little, but they just finished more 3 bathrooms near the rooms which will be in use soon (we think?). But everything is very clean and they provide hot water for the shower. The food is fine, good breakfast, packed lunched and diner.
We visited the Nkuringo gorilla group, which was very special. After a walk of 1 hour and 15 minutes we were lucky to see the gorilla’s. They were very active and friendly and came very close to us (a couple of meters)! We also have done a forest walk, which takes the whole day (8 hours walking through the beautiful jungle) but this is a great opportunity to see more of the Bwindi NP. The road to this accommodation isn't that good. From the tarmac road to the lodge, which is about 40 km, it takes about 2 hours driving (dry season, self drive). Next time (yes, we like to come back!) we would like to the walking safaris they offer, which must be great experience!

Enchanting place, staff very kind and helpful. The perfect place to relax after the gorilla tracking and to get in touch with the local communities ( go and visit the school). We'll never forget our stay here. Thank you!!

We were scheduled to stay here before gorilla tracking. When we found out the gorilla group we were assigned to was not close, these people helped us arrange another camp to stay in. PLUS, they made sure our gorilla permits got over to that camp. I was very pleased with their support and cooperation. I'll stay here next time. For sure!

I stayed at this camp in April of 2013. As the camp is in a price bracket that is significantly lower than many of the others in Bwindi, I was not sure what we were going to get. The rooms were great and the staff could not be better. They even watched my 2 year old while we went of on our gorilla trek. Agath was fantastic with him.

After traveling 2 weeks in Uganda it was nice to get some nice homestyle meals. I can't wait to go back and do one of the walking safaris that they organize.

Thanks for the great hospitality.

Room Tip: I would spring for a cottage. To me it is well worth the extra expense to have an in-suite bathroom...

This is the perfect place to stay for gorilla trekking. The road in is horrible, but if you want to gorilla trek you're going to have to survive it. But once you get to camp, the Nkuringo trekking is literally 300m away. The camp itself is perfectly atmospheric with views south to Sabinyo and friends volcanos as well as into Bwindi. We stayed in a room with shared showers which was wonderful. Inside the shower is all wood and makes it smell like you're showering in a warm summer rain! There's even a bonfire in the evening to meet other travellers before dinner time. Meals at the camp were included with our stay and were the best we'd had in Uganda, including a massive packed lunch for when we went trekking.

In short, this place was perfect. I can't wait to go back to hike Sabinyo!
