“The comfiest beds ever!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

We really enjoyed out time at The Feathered Nest, the beds are so comfy! It is quite a long way away from everywhere else so expect at least 45 minute drives where ever you go. Very nice owners, they are very welcoming-Marrion is an excellent cook too!

The rooms, the food, the hosts were fantastic, the dogs were special it was great going on our walks accompanied by the dogs and finding them outside our door in the mornings to greet us.

Martin and Marion are really entertaining and Marion a mine of information.

My wife and I stayed there during last years World Cup and were very happy with everything. We did not know what to expect and when we arrived the owners were extremely welcoming and our magical stay began. Between the food, accommodations, the amazing outdoor bar, our hosts, and of the course Bar Dog, Nalla, and Tyson we enjoyed every minute. The place is huge and Martin took us out on the quads. The scenery is beautiful and we loved how Nalla kept us company. Martin and Marion treated us like family and took very good care of us. The worst part was we had to leave. We should have stayed for 3 weeks instead of one. If you stay here you are not going to regret it and will have some of the best meals you have ever had in your life.

OK so the dirt road can be a bit of an adventure but that's all part of the place. It's secluded and definitely 'away from it all'. I visited with friends in February and we all loved it and plan to return same time next year. The animals are amazing, there was a baby warthog being hand reared as it's mum had been killed....not an experience you can pay for and the cutest little 'piggie' in the world. The accomdation is great, the photos don't do it justice and the FOOD - ah, lets just say it's unexpected and totally fantastic. The quad bikes are great fun, I would definitely recommend and also the Chicken Braai - Martin's speciality. We had great evenings at the bar, chatting to other guests and of course the hosts - easily pursuaded to join you for a drink or two...Marion and Martin are wonderful hosts and I look forward to returning.

Just returned from our third visit and as usual loved every minute. Martin and Marion have a great passion for what they do. It shows in the attention to detail in the rooms and Marion's adventureous cooking. She likes to experiment with different and unusual combinations and it works.
They are actively involved in wildlife rehabilitation, especially owls.
There is always a selection of friendly dogs available to walk with.
If you visit once, you will want to return. Len & Yvonne

We stayed here during the World Cup while attending a match at the stadium in Rustenburg. It is way off the beaten path but during the Cup we could not find anything closer to the stadium (technically in Phokeng). If you are looking for a place to stay that is close to the stadium, this is not it. But, if you are in the area and looking for a peaceful, friendly, relaxing few days, this is a prime spot. Well appointed cottages, friendly dogs and a charming bar/pool area make this an ideal spot for just hanging out. Just walking around the property or taking the ATV's for a ride are worth it. In short...far away from the crowds, peaceful, charming, great food. If you drive there, get an SUV if possible and just cheap driving down the dirt road.
