A BIG BIG thank you to Marguerite from LA PROVENCE D’AFRIQUE in the MAGALIESBURG for a magical experience.
This was such a soulful weekend with all the small touches lovingly put together to bring a small piece of France to us, set in the quaintest French street café with lovely music that created the perfect atmosphere.
A fabulous stone therapy massage really put us in heaven and with a delicious cheese platter, blanket and a bottle of wine we felt completely pampered.
Go and book ‘une affaire française’ for your most romantic getaway.

With the stress & constant fight against time, I decided to book a romantic weekend away. When we entered into the gates of La Provence I knew I had made the right decision, this place was PERFECT! We couldn't wait to book in, order a bottle of BUBBLY and take a stroll down to the river where we could finally relax and catch up on some much needed quality time together. Welcomed by the owner Marguerite and introduced to our very own host Jeremia, I knew we we're in for a treat and what a treat it was, we just can't stop talking about our wonderful experience -the hot stone therapy massages, delicious home-cooked food, beautifully decorated rooms with such amazing attention to detail. Thank-You! Thank-You! We can't wait to bring our friends!

Was very eager to see this place, It looked like a mythical secluded world out of the daily hustle and bustle of life. The place disappointed terribly. Everything in the rooms are old and dusty. There is a difference between old and antique, which of course the owner does not understand! The food was an absolute rip off for R 290 for two adults we ended eating plain and simple food dressed up as "french cuisine". Starters was a can of tuna with lots of greens - this all in one plate for two people to share, mains included a "baby" baby chicken - again one for two to share - and desert isnt even worth mentioning. Breakfast was even worse. Drinks are extremely overpriced. The owner is unscrupulous in milking her patrons for any money she can get. She has no care whatsoever about her patrons and will not even accomodate them with their requests.

I highly recommend you save your hard earned cash for somewhere worth the price and effort.......

Room Tip: All the rooms are dusty and old, recommend you sleep outside then..... :)

We decided to try out La Provence as a fun girls weekend away. Upon our arrival, we were in awe of this little France in the middle of Magaliesburg.

However, when shown to our rooms, we very disappointed. Everything was dusty and dirty. The shower was disgusting! And smelt awful. The towels smelt like they had never been washed, and some even had holes. The floors were filthy and we had to keep our shoes on at ALL times.

The rooms are very close to each other, and we were often disturbed and asked to be quiet since our laughter was disrupting other guests!

The dinner was lovely, but once again we were asked to be quiet. Breakfast by river was more of an insult- a boiled egg for each of us, a tomato, a very suspicious looking sausages!

The forest spa was ok. but once again- not clean at all. The bedding, towels, etc and NOT changed after each client!

Dinner at Goblins Cove was not impressive either. The toilet facilities were once again horrible. The taps were broken, the door handle were broken, the toilets were brown!

This place can be truly amazing if the owners put more effort into the maintenance of the place (especially the bathrooms). Note- there is no hot water until 11am and they charge you for firewood.

I was extremely disappointed with this La Provence. Don’t be fooled by the pictures on the Internet! I will never return to this place or recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Do not book a room with 2 single beds- they are the worst, and the filthiest!

This was the most romantic place me and my husband has ever stayed in. We went for our 22nd wedding anniversary and we stayed in the most romantic place ever. A delightful secret we want to share with everyone.
It was like we were in France itself ...without flying thousands of kilometres.
The decor and setting was like stepping into another era, far removed from the ratrace and modern things we are used to.
The service and food was a delight. From the basket dinner in the streetcafe to the breakfast beside the river to the hotstone massage.
There is no words enough to explain the exprience, you have to see and experience for yourself. It was worth every cent!
Thank you Marguerite and Jeremiah my anniversary was everything I wished it would be!

Well I read the reviews and with some doubt in mind I decided to try this place out. This was by far the biggest pleasant surprise for a while. The rooms are absolutely stunning and the service from Jeremia are top class. Even the children were loving it, playing on the grass whilst my spouse enjoyed a hot stone massage. You will certainly see us again. Thank you Marguerite and team for a very relaxing time in your little Eden.
