Owner description: The sheltered inlet of Boulders Beach is located in the Cape peninsula near Simon's Town. Here exists a protected colony of African penguins which can be viewed in their natural habitat via wooden walkways. There is also an excellent beach for swimming nearby.

“Upclose and Personal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Excellent opportunity to get close to the South African penguins in their natural habitat. Tickets cost R45. There will be a platform to walk on. Tourists are not allowed to be on the beach. Nevertheless it was an amazing, noisy experience to see these penguins closely. My children could just sit and watch for hours. There will be some in the bushes, some swimming in the sea while the rest would be freely on the rocks and beach. Beautiful colony and definitely not to be missed!

A beautiful drive to Simon's Town leads to to this attraction where you can go down to the beach to see these beautiful cute penguins. They come up so close to you and its a real treat. Brilliant. Nice shop too.

“Cute..except the weather played spoilsport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

To thoroughly enjoy this beach, you have to hope for a clear sunny day...then it is sure to be a treat. To watch the penguins in their own spaces, lying down, standing, interacting is fun! Not to mention they are adorable creatures that you would love to take home!
The entrance to the main beach is a little steep (R45) to just have a walk down to and see the penguins, but nonetheless if you don't mind it, it is worth 45 minutes of your time!
Again just pray you have good weather as more than the penguins, you are bound to be miserable in the wet and the cold!!

“Would have loved to Pick up a Penguin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Short walk from the car park brings you to the penguins on the beach. They are fabulous. There were lots of little grey fluffy chicks and even what I think was a mongoose or two who were very naughty and were stealing eggs. Poor penguins were defenceless. We really enjoying just watching all the frantic doings. All very photogenic so bring a fully charged camera.
