Owner description: The sheltered inlet of Boulders Beach is located in the Cape peninsula near Simon's Town. Here exists a protected colony of African penguins which can be viewed in their natural habitat via wooden walkways. There is also an excellent beach for swimming nearby.

“Penguins galore”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

Visited with 3 under 4 year olds on a very hot day. Parking difficult, walked a long way in the heat as signage wasn't too good. Beach very crowded but kids enjoyed it. After quite long treck to penguins children were soon disinterested. Better to go on a cooler day.

“Loved it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

So nice to be able to get close to the African Penguins but still not feel that we were intruding onto their natural habitat. Lots of penguins snuggling in the coolness to the shade of the trees on our way down to the beach and even more on the beach, swimming and sunbathing. Well worth a visit esp if you are driving past anyway on your way to The Cape of Good Hope.

“Bring your camera & a smile...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Entrance to the penquin area is a bit hard to find but worth it. Wooden walkways take you along the beach past loads of the little guys & gals, their man-made homes in the sand and awesome photo ops. The wind was up the day we were there, but the sun was out, so not much of a bother. If you have a telephoto lens for your camera, now is the time to use it as the penquins are a bit of a distance away. We even saw an escapee under the fender of a car as we left the area...hope he/she makes it back to the beach OK. Well worth going!!

“Quiet place with a fantastic view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013 via mobile

We went inside to swim with penguins. There was one young one that just circled around us and let us follow him on the beach. Big boulders and blocked the wind from us. Small little beach area so I can imagine how crowded it can get with warmer weather. Also the little ones can swim without too much worry as the are no waves. There are more penguins on the boardwalk but its filled with so many more ppl so why not pay the R45 to relax beach side. We saw them and got close enough to get a great photo. Loved it and the kids loved it. Great for families. And in the water we saw a group in dolphins just circling around us. Amazing.
