“Nice place, but internet was not working”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

The place is nice, but a bit far from town (you'll need a car). Internet was not working at all, and the phones didn't have signal there. As I stayed just one night there, it was not a big problem for me.

The apartment is very big and comfortable and the owner was very helpful.

Dear Pedro, thank you so much for taking the time to write a review on your stay in Avian Leisure's Watsonia Apartment! We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. As you mention we are in a rural setting 45 mins away from the Cape Town crowds, but close to scenic Cape Point, and less than 5 minutes by car from the village of Simon 's Town where the False Bay shark viewing and whale watching as well as kayaking trips start out. And we're even closer to the penguin colony - they can be seen at the bottom of our road all the way along to Boulder's Beach - Cape Town's best kept beach secret !
Not sure which mobile service provider you were using, but it is true that cell phone reception can prove problematic on the mountain slopes of the Peninsula - we are however more than happy for guests to use our landline at any time as back-up..
We are puzzled that you had a problem with the Internet as we pride ourselves on offering free fast wi-fii access in both Watsonia and our sea-facing Shearwater apartments. Possibly a small error may have occurred that we could have sorted out at the time of the problem. We look forward to having you stay once again at some stage in the future !

Avian leisure is a superb holiday venue and I would recommend it to all travelers who intend on visiting Cape Town.

The views and rooms are amazing (We stayed in both rooms and they are both fantastic)

The hosts are also fantastic!

If you are doing Cape Town - do Avian Leisure!

This was the best accommodation in our 4 week visit to South Africa. The view was excellent and the rooms were exceptionally large & clean. Great value, very comfortable, & excellent hosts! We'll be back.

Beautiful apartment. The library contains many very interesting books - it is a pity we could not stay longer. Being situated high on the mountain it receives the full blast of the Cape's south-easter which is an experience for people from the interior! We thoroughly enjoyed the one-night stay.

An associate had made arrangements for us to stay at Avian Leisure, a self-catered establishment overlooking Boulders Beach, world-famous for its South African penguin viewing and spectacular white-sand beaches. We couldn't have been more pleased with our 5-night stay and would not hesitate to recommend Avian Leisure to friends and clients. The accommodation is not only tastefully decorated and appointed but we felt as if we were completely at home with all of the creature comforts afforded. Impeccably clean and wonderfully situated in the small resort community of Simon's Town, if you are looking for quiet solitude with exceptional views you simply must stay here. When we next visit the Cape Town area we will hope to be able to stay here.

Stayed in July 2011 and this accommodation is absolutely stunning. We were a family of four and it was an ideal base to explore Cape Town and the surrounding area. We were concerned that it may be too far from the Cape Town attractions but this was not the case if you planned trips to avoid the peak traffic times. In addition the apartment had fantastic views and the towns, villages, beaches on the Cape are great for exploring.
Marie-Louise and Patrick are extremely helpful and ensure your stay goes well. An added bonus is the nightly visit to the garden by the Porcupines!!

Room Tip: If you want a majestic view, you will not be disappointed.
