“Little Gem in The Back Country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

If you are a country connoisseur or like crafty out of the way places this is a must see. The setting in the Ozarks on the War Eagle river is breath taking. The annual craft fair hosted there is a crafters mecca.

“An Enjoyable Interlude”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We visited the mill on a quiet weekday and enjoyed strolling through the area to admire the river, the buildings, the bridge and the beautiful autumn foliage.

We found the repeatedly rebuilt mill's history to be very interesting and were not surprised to see names associated with the Civil War and politics pop up in the mill's past.

This is a very pretty and traditional mill with a waterwheel one can peek over a wall to see.

The entry level floor contains the mill as well as a small store that sells products milled there. The second floor also houses a small store, but with a wider variety of goods including some items made by local artists.

The third floor houses the restaurant with a few windows overlooking the river and the entry-area of the mill's grounds. The menu is very limited, but we enjoyed a serving of beans, cornbread and blackberry cobbler for a fair price.

Sadly, there is no access for those who cannot manage stairs beyond the ramp at the main entrance.

Restrooms are found outdoors. There are fields (sports?) across the parking lot opposite the river and it seems like a great place for a family to visit.

Hiking trails abound in the area and the parks are lovely.

“peacful river setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We ate in the 3rd story country cooking restauant and it was good, as you would think it had a limited menu, hard to think how they haul everyting up the 3 flights of stairs. Loved the old mill building and working wheel. Bought many whole grain flours and items, from a wide selection as he was grinding. It must be a very different experience on the busy craft weekends, but was a lovely stream, beauiful fall color on the surrounding trees and a nice spot, but a pretty twisty drive from Bentonville.

“Great crafters fair”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We enjoyed attending this crafts fair. Found the tents across the river from the Mill area to be superior. Would return if in that area at the appropriate time! Large variety of food booths with good food. Also noted an ATM machine for those in need. Small parking fee but no entrance fee.

“Beautiful for photos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I've been here many times over the last few years and the scenery on the drive out and when you get there is just beautiful. I enjoy the history of the place, having a good homestyle breakfast (not uber process foods), and being able to buy quality grits from the store. They have to make money to survive and the product is quality whether you are buying from the store or restaurant...so i don't mind paying more to support a local business that serves some local products. It is an old mill that still operates, so don't expect anything super fancy and upkept. The bathrooms are basically campground type outhouses...just be prepared that this isn't your tourist trap destination....it's a piece of community history.
