“Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

Just before we arrived in the hotel we had a problem with our car. We drove to the hotel and after checking in we came with our problem. The hotel staff immediately took action and helped us very well! They called a garage, our car rental company and gave us our options. We could go to our room and relax while they would solve the problem. They came a few times to our room to ask if everything was fine and the next day they solved the problem with our car. The rooms are comfortable, include everything you need, the hotel is not crowded so great for your rest. The swimming pool was cold but the view is fantastic! It has a great location and really helpful staff. The food was good and I recommend people this hotel.

The hotel lives up to its name with a splendid view over the mountains from some rooms and the pool area. Room was clean and comfortable. However, the hotel has some of the worst food I have ever seen. A very mediocre dinner buffet was 25 dinars (about £23). No a la carte or room service. Instead we had an excellent meal at the Marriot next door. Breakfast was mainly tinned and processed food.

The hotel is situated in an amazing location - over viewing the tomb or Aaron. We were disappointed by the low capacity of guest at the hotel. the hotel is old and not well maintained. the food for breakfast was fine but not too great. we arrived for two nights, we did our booking from booking.com and when we decided to leave after the first night, they gave us a price reduction due to our early leave - we were amazed by this act as we were expecting to pay the full price of two night - wow- this is nice of from them to reduce the payment!!
No internet in the room. TV with all channel in English was fine. Toilets in room were renovated and renewed few years ago. The room was old and not so clean. The sheets were with stains.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool is amazing. pool area is not nice, it's not a hotel for relaxing, it's...

My husband and I have recently retired, and we have been traveling the world. I was a bit worried when I saw the the reviews on this site about the hotel our agent already booked us for. To my surprise, this hotel have been a true "gem in the desert".

Breathtaking views, great location, a beautiful pool and decent staff. What not to like?

I have loved every aspect of our 8-night-stay. Our room was spacious, clean and modern. The bed is quite comfortable and sheets are crisp.

I don't understand the fuss about food, since we ate at grand view more than once a day,and never did we find a meal less than great! some people traveling with us are picky in general, but were impressed with the food as well.

I wish the hotel staff the best, and I hope they keep up what they are doing.

Room Tip: Pick the valley view rooms, the view is just breathtaking!

We shunned the larger (and uglier) chain hotels in favour of this local one and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Clean, impeccable rooms with large spacious balconies overlooking the pool terrace (which is amazing by the way!!) and the service was second to none. We asked for an early breakfast as we wanted to be in Petra for Sunrise at 6am (well worth it - it was desserted! By 10am it was packed with tourists and camels/donkeys running around) and they served a 4 course breakfast for the 6 of us at 530am. Superb! It is up in the hills away from the hectic town, a much needed escape after long days at Petra (ten min drive to the park entrance). Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view out over the hills to the back of the hotel - amazing sunsets!

We stayed in Grand View Hotel on 15-16/02/2014.
When we came it was unfortunately raining and of course the view is not that great in the clouds. However the next morning we enjoyed a splendid view on the canyon and it was worth the distance to Petra.
The hotel was empty (definitely out of the touristy season + Syrian crisis affecting tourism in the region), only two other guests were there. We didn't have dinner at the hotel but had breakfast.
The staff was very kind and helpful.
However we think some improvements could be brought to the place: a bus service to Petra for the guests at fixed hours and maybe a sexier breakfast with fresh juice (not powdered juice mixed with water) and fruits (not canned fruits).
But we liked this place anyhow although it's a little worn out. There's a little resemblance with the hotel in the Shining which makes it weirdly touching...
The rooms were very clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: Obviously ask for a room with a view!

We had a lovely stay at this very quaint hotel. Its the first hotel in a line of hotels at Petra, and has got a breath taking view ! All the rooms are on the ground level and overlook the valley. The rooms are spacious and bright. We traveled with 2 small kids and were given a decent room with 3 double beds ! It was quite sufficient. The bathroom was very clean and neat too. The rooms are well equipped with heaters and the hotel lobby has a wifi service. The breakfast was a good spread too. By car, you would be ten minutes from Petra city.
I would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel !
