“Good for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

We booked 3 nights at the Al Anbat II but when we checked in we were put in the Al Anbat III which was right next door so this review is really about the rooms in the III but it was the same staff and the staffed reception was at the II.

This was the cheapest place we could find for the three days we spent in Petra and it was definitely worth the savings in money. If you are traveling on a budget this is a good choice. The room was big for a budget place with a comfortable king bed. It was ok clean but not spic and span. You had to request the hot water to be turned on if you wanted a shower which was kind of annoying. We didn't ad the meal pkg and I wouldn't recomend it based on price. Breakfast was included but for a dinner pkg it was 10 more USD a night and we ate ok cheap meals at local restaurants for a bit less. Shawarmas and falafal sandwiches are also easy to find for much cheaper. The breakfast wasn't that great. It was ok and got the job done but not great. The man who ran the place was very friendly and pleasant. I felt like he was attentive to our needs and requests. He also did not charge us for the wifi although the website said there would be a 5 USD charge. The wifi was really good and extremely fast although it only worked in one half of the room.

The hotel is up a hill from Petra. It is about a 10 to 15 minute walk. Walking down was fine but we usually took a cab back up the hill. The cab drivers in Petra are terrible about trying to overcharge you. It should cost 2 JD for ride up the hill. Be very firm. Don't pay more than 3 JD. A few times we started walking away when they wouldn't meet our price and they always then agreed to a reasonable fee.

Overall I thought the place was only ok but, again, it was the cheapest rate we could find. We were happy with our choice based on price. We paid 33 USD a night which was 10 USD cheaper than the next place up. We would stay there again if we went back.

Manager Khalid helped us to change our room for a spacious nice room with TV/Fridge and hot water. Got the internet to our floor within short time, and always not hesitate to make Tea/Coffee. Two days he dropped us at the Petra entrance! Arranged our trip to Amman for a reasonable rate. Good breakfast buffet( Even for one person they give like that as they told us)

Clean and cheap hotel. Perfect location for restaurants and other facilities. 10 minutes walking from the entrance of the archaeological site. Owner and his son are really kind and helped us for everything we asked.

Efficient staff at reception, and incredibly helpful when a member of our party got very ill.
There is only hot water at certain times of day, so check when this is when you arrive!
Reluctant to do a free transfer to Petra (although they advertise this). We paid JD1.5 per person each way for a taxi. It is a long walk to Petra, and a big hill on the way back, so a taxi is needed really!
Apart from that, it is conveniently located in Wadi Musa as there are lots of restaurants nearby.

We (family with 1 kid) stayed two nights here and cannot recommend this hotel at all. Rooms very smelly of smoke, dirty, noisy, small, horrible breakfast. Worst hotel in a long time. Price was OK though. Reviews in tripadvisor and booking.com must be rigged in my opinion.

I have to disagree with most of the reviews here as the value for money I have received at the Al Anbat 2 seemed not really favorable to me. The mold-smelling room (#104) was freezing cold and despite asking the reception, located in a smoke-filled lobby, several times to do something about the non-working air conditioning which was only blowing cold air they have not done anything about it.
Bathroom not particularly clean with cracked mirror and one had to ask the reception for a set of towels because there were none. I have decided to move to Seven Wonders after two nights at Al Anbat 2.
In general most things in Jordan in December seemed to be in low gear given the low number of tourists and unusually cold weather and those who came received subpar service.

The location of this hotel is great, in a quiet street and close to lots of shops and restaurants. To the Petra entrance is only 5 minutes by car or 2 JD by taxi.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and very comfortable. We booked in Al Anbat II but actually stayed in Al Anbat III, which was next door.
The mosque is one of the noisiest we've ever heard, so make sure you bring earplugs. The swimming pool is actually in the other hotel (Al Anbat I), about 2 km uphill, and very cold.
If you're looking for something to do in the evening, I can recommend doing a cooking course in Petra Kitchen - a lot of fun and very yummy!
