“Well worth a visit - bring appropriate footwear”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Despite the outrageous entrance price, no trip to Jordan would be complete without visiting Petra. Be prepared for a long walk and the return walk uphill - appropriate footwear that you don't mind getting dirty and is comfortable is required! There are lots of people offering donkeys and horses, but none of them have horse shoes and seem to be very badly treated - being forced to gallop uphill with 3 fat people in the back!

“Petra rose city fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Fantastic walking through the valley to find the treasury wow .... Was a bit of a walk had an excellent guide provided by thomson which made the walk less painful you can get a horse and cart down if you are limited with your walking but personally pleased we walked.did have a bit of hassle from sellers and people trying to get you onto camels and horses.

“IT IS A MUST SEE.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Petra is like magic you need couple of visits to know that what you see is real.
the site is huge and you can have 2 to 3 days to visit everything, but still one full day is good to enjoy your time in the amazing city.

Enjoy.........

“A must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Jordan itself is one of the friendliest middle eastern countries I have visited, and Petra spectacular. Beware it is a long walk so wear something sensible on your feet, and temperatures in the winter months can fluctuate an enormous amount so be prepared. We only had a day there and founf this to be insufficient, if you are a lover of history then I would reccomend two days to get the most out of it. The walk is in the region of three miles but the sights along the way are spectacular and when you come out of the cliffs with the treasury in front of you quite breathtaking. If you are in the area don't miss it, but be prepared for the usual spate of local merchants selling you their bargains - they are persistent!

“Amazing Petra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

MAke sure you wear sturdy shoes and have all day to walk around and climb……the place is huge but I found that 1 day was enough for me…I was told there was so much more to see but I must admit, I struggled to make it back to the hotel at the end of the day. Your entry ticket allows you a horse ride from the entrance to the Siq up to where the main gates are or vice versa, about 800 metres…save it for the return trip….if you end up walking to the monastery, you will need a ride back….Bedouins are all over the place, selling trinkets, donkey rides and horse rides….usually the fee is about 10JD….but a tip is expected at the end around 2-3 JD. Having a guide is also a good idea, they explain many things and the good ones show you things that others will skip over…..
