“A very comfortable and relaxing hotel to stay near Petra.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

Base on good trip advisor review, we booked our stay in Al Rashid Hotel before travelling to Petra, Jordan.

The entrance of the hotel is just perfect though parking space is small. Our driver had difficulty maneuvering the van. We checked- in late but the receptionist was so helpful and directed us outside the hotel just across the street to get our dinner. The first ever Jordan food/dinner we had, as recommended by the receptionist, did not satisfy our taste. Also, since we arrived late, no one assisted us to bring our luggage up to our room but we were shown how to use the TV, unexpectedly, the only English entertainment we can watch is BBC world. The following morning was a little bit disaster because there was no cold water on the shower. It was sorted out during the day I supposed because there was cold water when we came back from Petra. Over all the inclusive breakfast was nice though limited choices but dinner was so lovely and affordable ( 8 dinar per head with starter, main course, sweets and coffee/tea).
The best part is the very attentive and caring staff: Laith and Waill (reception), Mohammed (waiter, cook, maintenance, porter, etc...) and the tall guy akhmed or ahmad.
In conclusion, the hotel is clean, in a very strategic place, food is acceptable, good customer service, affordable and comfortable.

Will definitely come back for a bedouine night and will recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Bring your own magazine, newspaper, books to read( especially English) as there are none in the sitt...

Excellent hotel where we stayed for one night. Very comfortable and clean. Excellent service & food. Unable tho to get a meal at night probably due to out of season. We enjoyed meal out in local restaurant. We then went up to the monastry and treasury.

This is a very kind restaurant with nice rooms. I arrived very late and the receptionist was very helpful. The breakfast in the morning was very tasty and included in the price. I've been assisted with my luggage... That's very comfortable in a one star hotel... It goes beyond your expectations and make you feel like at home. I will certainly come back there.

Very clean and comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff. Located right in the centre of Wadi Musa with plentiful parking nearby as well as numerous restaurants. The entrance to Petra is about a 15-minute walk down the hill; less fit visitors will want to take a taxi back to the hotel after their to visit. If you have a car there's free parking by the site's entrance.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the street.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff very friendly and excellent wi fi was available. We stayed for a week in February, one of the nicest things was unlimited tea or coffee, ask for turkish coffee if Nescafe is not to your taste!

The room is very confortable, clean and quiet. Very good breakfast, they also served Helva, this sweet made from sesame paste that I liked so much. Many options of restaurants near the Hotel, just across the street.

We spent one night here in February. The hotel is an excellent value. Our room was very clean, comfortably large enough, with three twin beds with good, new mattresses. The bathroom was newly renovated, clean, large, very functional. It was neither hot nor cold while we were there, but there was a new, effective heat/AC wall unit with a thermostat. The TV was new, but the connections were poor, and we couldn't get it to work - but we weren't there to watch TV! The internet only works well while you are standing near the front desk - very poor reception anywhere else in the hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was mediocre, an extremely limited buffet, but we were able to find enough that we were willing to eat to fortify ourselves for the day.

The hotel is located uphill from the cluster of hotels closest to Petra, but still an easy downhill walk from the hotel to the entrance to Petra. No need to take a taxi from the hotel to Petra, but it would be a very challenging hike back to the hotel, after a long day at Petra. Worth taking a taxi back at the end of the day if you need to return to the hotel. There are restaurants and a money exchange very close to the hotel.

Overall, an excellent value because of the clean, comfortable, renovated rooms. I would definitely recommend it, despite the lack of internet and the poor TV connection.
