I seem to have struck gold with my choice of hotels for the Jordan trip!! I picked two budget hotels – one in Amman and one in Wadi Musa and both have exceeded my expectations. Al Rashid hotel in Wadi Musa is a lovely little hotel run by a lovely man called Laith. The hotel was renovated only a year ago so everything looks new. I had a nice clean room with great shower and room heating facilities. To top it off, they offer the best breakfast that I’ve ever experienced in a budget hotel – unlimited Pita Bread, Hummus, Yoghurt, Olives, Omelettes and a ‘Fuul’ that probably came straight from heaven. Believe me, you HAVE to try that Fuul!! My only regret is that I couldn’t try out on my last day as I had to leave for the airport very early in the morning. The hotel is located at the centre of Wadi Musa – Petra Visitor Centre is a nice 15 minutes downhill walk from the hotel. On the way back, it’s a steep 20 minutes uphill walk (which wasn’t an issue for me being a long distance runner) – but you can always take a taxi for only 2 JD. All the necessary shops are located just beside the hotel. There’s a nice restaurant called Al Wadi located just around the corner. Laith was very helpful in arranging the trip to Wadi Rum and managed to get me a great deal. All in all I couldn’t have asked for more. Al Rashid hotel is highly recommended for anyone visiting Petra.
One piece of Advice for would be travellers to Petra, you need to spend at least two full days in Petra to take it all in. It’s simply amazing!
