The location just 10 minutes walk from Little Petra was what sold this tented camp to us. We had our own car, so getting to Petra proper was not an issue, and getting away from Petra's crowds was just what we needed.
The camp is set in an enchanting natural sandstone landscape which becomes magical when the 1400 lights are turned on at night.
The communal area, a wonderfully comfortable Bedouin tent, is really beautiful. Great for lounging and just forgetting about reality. The Bedouin hospitality, which is renowned, was all pervasive. Khaled and Abu Arab were fantastic hosts, and went out of their way to make our stay happy and comfortable.
We were there mid winter, and were worried about the cold, but at night a roaring fire kept us warm outside, and our tent was remarkably warm with loads of big fluffy blankets.
Breakfasts were excellent and served in the sunshine with freshly brewed rosemary tea.
We spent two nights here and really enjoyed our stay.
The communal bathrooms are basic and hot water in short supply, but, this is after all a Bedouin camp, and all the other great stuff made up for the short sharp showers.
This is a really special place.
