There's a mix of locals and expats at this place, all connected in an awesome network of helpfulness. They have great recommendations for tours, tracked down a lost camera, and generally made our visit to Petra an amazing time.

The food and common area is great. Rooms are nothing special, bit they are clean and comfortable.

I wouldn't go back to Petra without staying here!

Rocky Mountain hotel was just perfect for my 2 night stay in Petra. Jane is a helpful host and works hard to meet all the guest needs. The morning breakfast is very filling and delicious - just what you need to head out for a day of hiking in Petra. The breakfast room is cozy and offers you a chance to connect with other travelers. The hotel offers complimentary morning and afternoon shuttle service to and from the park entrance. My room was comfy and quiet. The hotel is close to a couple of small supermarkets, ATMs and several restaurants. Inquire about having dinner out at the seven Wonders bedouin camp (owned and operated by Jane's husband Atef). It's fun and delicious!

A cosy and clean hotel with an authentic Jordanian feel and a bedouin decour, family run by a New Zealander Jayne and her family. Its perfect, especially for those adventurous travellers who want to experience Jordan and Petra without being 'riped off' by mega hotel chains and tour operators, as offer very honest prices.
Location: the top of the hill, 5 min away by taxi, from PETRA SITE visitors centre- (3-4 JD, same value in Euros) TIP: I would recommend taking a taxi and not walking or driving, honestly, taxi drivers are familiar with the roads and traffic, and also very knowledgable of the area, and you will be grateful to be driven to your hotel after 6-8-10h of walking around the site
Highlights of my stay:
1. The roof top lounge decorated in a traditional bedouin style with panoramic views over the area
2. Freshly home made Arabic food (a buffet style set menu), the chef is also willing to share tips on Arabic cooking/ spices and recepies for his dishes!
3. Jayne's recommendation how to plan a visit to the ancient site, depending on the lengh of stay in Petra - TIP: Allow at least 2 full days to see the site to feel you have seen the most of it.
Let your hair down and enjoy it!

Perfect budget hotel if you have a rent-a-car. About 5min. drive to the Petra visitor center. If not, they have the shuttle service from the hotel to the Petra's visitor center.

The hotel is located on the top of the hill of Wadi Musa. We got a room with the amazing view of the Wadi musa and Petra area. It was one of the best views I saw from the hotel room.

There are a lot of books and the magazines of Petra at the front desk area and the owner is very helpful to provide the information about the area and the activities.

There is a common area / Lounge on the top of the hotel and it is open for 24hrs. Self service free coffee and tea. The lounge is desolated just like the bedouin tent. Very comfortable and relaxing. Great view form the terrace.

There is no guard rail on the side of the stair way. Elderly people and small children must be very careful. And unfortunately no wheel chair friendly structure.

The breakfast is the traditional Bedouin breakfast. Omelets and cheese, hummus, olive oil, zatar, fruits jams and sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. Very fresh and enjoyable.

They have limited time for the hot water supply in the morning and in the evening so needed to plan the shower time.

We would like to stay at this hotel again when we come back to Wadi Musa.

We spent a night at Rocky Mountain Hotel as a "break" between spending nights in Bedouin camps. Our room was clean, spacious, and contained all of the amenities of a typical Western hotel. Although this hotel is a good distance from town, you are rewarded with a stunning view from the rooftop terrace. The dinner provided by the hotel was delicious and my husband and I enjoyed eating while taking in the view from the terrace. There is also a small grocery store across the street in case you need any toiletries/snacks. Jane was very helpful in helping us figure out arrangements for leaving Wadi Musa for Wadi Rum along with other travel logistics.

For price, good stay. Farthest hotel away from Petra, and after walking all day, you have to call a taxi unless you catch the shuttle. Staff is very nosy and chatty, but bend over backwards to help. Do not regret staying here, but probably would not book again.

Just want to reassure potential guests that we are not the farthest away hotel - there are quite a few more further up the hill from us. In terns of our situation - we are a 10 min walk to the centre of town (banks, cafes, money change etc) and then from the town centre it is a further 15-20 mins walk down hill to the Visitors Centre.

We have 2 free shuttles down in the morning and 2 free return shuttles back. If you miss the shuttles, taxis are plentiful and cost only 3 JD from the Visitors Centre up to the hotel - it is a 5 min drive.

From the moment i walked in, i was welcomed by the manager/owner (Jane i think). She showed me my room and around the hotel. In the evening the hotel had arranged a bedoin meal in a camp, which was wonderful.
Clean rooms, with TV,A/C heaters etc.
The bathroom is a little small but cant complain for the price i paid.
The breakfast is great. The view from the roof where breakfast is served is amazing. sitting there having tea and coffee and smoking sheesha is the best feeling ever.

they have free shuttle service to Petra in the morning. (3 min drive)

I would highly recommend this hotel and when i return i will stay here again.

Room Tip: The rooms on the bottom floor have better wifi, as they are closer to reception.
