“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

The hotel was the closest hotel to the entrance of Petra which is a huge plus after a long day walking around. The staff was warm and welcoming. However the place was showing a little wear and tear. Dining room chairs were stained and one of our rooms had an oder problem in the bathroom. ( there was a lot of rain the night we got there and the drain in the bathroom was smelling up the room). I would recommend the Movenpick next door if money were not an issue, but for what we needed the hotel was comfortable, beds and pillows were great and the food was good.

Room Tip: there is an old part where we stayed and a new wing...stay in the new wing

We stayed for only one night but found that the hotel staff was excellent and the rooms very comfortable and clean. This is the only hotel that is actually past the visitor gates that lead you to Petra. If walking is not your strength, than this hotel may be your choice as it is still a good long hike into the main area of Petra.

Just a short walk in the other direction takes you to the tourist shops with the typical souvenirs and expected experiences with the shop keepers.

The hotel itself has a very “creative” and interesting layout with a fabulous entrance courtyard attached to an actual Nabataean cave. The drinks in the cave are fairly expensive and the music pretty loud, but worth the experience if you are so inclined. The bar inside the main building I found to be of a better value.

You couldn't be in a better spot for an early start or late night in Petra. It takes about an hour to walk to the Treasury from the hotel and other hotels are quite a bit further away. We had requested one bed but were given two singles, OK just for two nights. Quiet room on the ground floor, we didn't hear a thing.

Breakfast was OK, not as good as hotels we stayed in elsewhere in Jordan and the evening meal in the hotel wasn't as good as it could have been. We didn't want the buffet, which seemed to annoy the waiting staff and we ordered off the menu. The food was below par and the staff were blunt and rather rude, very different to everyone else we met in Jordan, this is one of the friendliest countries we've ever visited after all.

The first morning we were there, we were up and out of our room at 6.30a.m. On the second morning, we decided to sleep in a bit after a very long day in Petra the day before. On the second morning, the phone inexplicably rang at 6.24a.m. waking us both up, then at 7a.m. someone came into the room! Whoever it was went out again quickly but it was rather unsettling. There was no internal lock on the door, as there had been everywhere else in Jordan. At breakfast, a manager came over and apologised to us but didn't give a reason. We can only imagine that because we had been early out the first morning, the housekeepers thought we would be out again on the second morning but who knows? Just be mindful. Despite this, we would stay there again for the location but would keep a suitcase in front of the door!

Really enjoyed staying here, right next to the entrance to wonderful Petra. Great room with plenty of space and large bathroom. I asked for a quiet room and they gave us the one right on the end next to the rock face which was great. There were two downsides: the Cave bar was lovely but I paid £8.50 for a glass of wine - more than I pay in London, and the waiting staff at breakfast virtually ordered that we sit in a certain place and were surly and unresponsive.

I have to comment on the wonderful service when I left 2 items of clothing in my room. I emailed the same day and they posted them off to me back in England, which must have been at some effort and expense. Thank you Abdullah Subeihat and staff!

I thought this property was excellent and perfect location!
The hotel is located right next to the Petra visitors centre so ideal if you plan to spend a couple of days exploring Petra and ideal for the Petra by Night visit if you plan to go to this (recommended!).
The rooms were of a good standard with very comfortable beds!!!
The Cave Bar at the front of the hotel is very unique and worth a quick drink.
The breakfast was ok, nothing special really and not as good as we've had at other hotels in other parts of Jordan.

This place is one of the best values for the money anywhere. Clean, great location for visiting Petra, fantastic staff. Oh yea, and the Cave Bar. One of the coolest places to eat and drink I've seen. The barbecue with all the different type of hummus dips was outstanding. Next time I'm in Petra, I'm staying here.

The guest house is located inside the visitor centra to petra. Amazing location!
I reserved a. Double room, specifically requesting a king size bed. When's we arrived we were shown to a twin room. When I questioned this, they suggested that we pushed the two beds together... Errrrrrr. No! I insisted, and showed them my reservation details. We were then showed to a double room in the floor above. Much nicer.

The rooms are adequate, the view of the window looked straight into a cliff side, and there were no frills but is was ok for what we need - a comfy bed and somewhere to relax after .

Breakfast is open until 10am, but from our experience you need to get there before 8 otherwise it's deserted and you get a very frosty reception from the staff.

Cave bar is a bit of fun for a novelty pint in an original tomb!
