“Clean hotel in great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014 via mobile

Me & my wife stayed here for 2 nights in february. The hotel sits at the entrance to the Petra site (the closest hotel you can get), & first impressions when arriving were very good. The staff at check in were fast & efficient, & our cases were waiting for us when we arrived at our room. The room was very clean, & even though the majority of hotel rooms in Jordan allow smoking our room smelt very fresh. There is a modern TV with a good selection of channels in a number of languages & a safe in the room (which is free to use). We never ate at the hotel restaurant & chose instead to use one of the local restaurants, but had breakfast at the hotel which was good with a good selection of items. The only minor issue we had was the hotel wi-fi. For a reasonable fee you can use the wi-fi, but I was unable to connect for some reason (this really wasnt a big deal though). You must also have a look in the Cave bar (even if you dont want a drink), which is right next to the hotel entrance. Its just a little different. Drinks were reasonably priced (in comparison with other hotels in Jordan), just dont forget the 10% service charge & 16% tax that is added to your bill for food & drink (this appled to every hotel/restaurant/bar we used in Jordan). All in all, a nice hotel in a great location. Will happily stay again on our next visit.

The Crowne Plaza guest house appears to be a new hotel & not to be confused with the Crowne Plaza hotel which is a little way further up. The Guest House is located next to the entrance of Petra. It is clean & very well run. The rooms are clean & comfortable. The staff are helpful & friendly. The breakfasts have everything you could want including omelettes & eggs cooked to order. A bar called the Cave next door is also part of the Crowne Plaza complex & has a great atmosphere with good mojito's & excellent G&T's. It is in a converted Nabatean tomb. The only gripe I have about this place is the charges for Wifi when there are many lesser places offering free Wifi eg, the restaurant Sandstone just up the road which also serves good food (& unusally beers & local wine, at a price of course).

Room Tip: Some rooms overlook the entrance point & you can hear the horses getting ready early in the morn...

We stayed as a family with small children in January 2014 for one night. The staff was very helpful and very friendly. The location is the best as it is right at the entrance to Petra. As another traveler said, start early and you will have Petra all to yourself. The breakfast was great. We also had dinner in the cave restaurant. The food was good and the atmosphere was very unique. The cave is actually one of the tombs from the site; there is a marker in front of the hotel explaining the significance. The rooms are adequate, but not plush. The setting is very unique and made for a great memory for us and our kids.

On our recent trip to Israel and Jordan, this was the nicest room we stayed in for a very good price. It was roomy and clean. The view was great, and the location amazing since the entrance to Petra is just a little stroll down the hill. The service was excellent, and breakfast top notch. I would stay here again. The fact that it's called "Guest House" is confusing since it's more like a really nice hotel, but the doors to the rooms go to the outside.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel for our birthday holiday at the end of November 2013. The location is perfect for access to Petra. The rooms are nice clean and spacious.
The staff are very helpful and friend. A special mention goes to Zayed who, from the start, was the most helpful and friendly person there and helped us out a lot! So Zayed, Thank you very much! From Andy & Katherine.

The hotel is situated right outside Petra's entrance which was really good for our group since each of us explored Petra at our own pace on the way back and we didn't have trouble reaching and finding the hotel.

My grandfather was able to use his wheelchair from the hotel to the entrance where they had the horse carriages.

Room is nice and clean. Staff are friendly too.

If you are lucky, you might get the room with the view of Petra :)

There's no free wi-fi. Also, they seem to lack staff during meal times. We had our Breakfast and Dinner at the hotel. Food was good but probably due to the number of people at the restaurant, it took them some time to refill some of the food.

Their cave bar is nice. Even if you don't drink, try to go in and have a look
