“A little gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Not much we can add to previous reviews. The hotel had been closed for a couple of months this summer for a remodel and now looks very swish - rooms are a bit like a W hotel - glass enclosed bathroom, black furniture, white linen and low mood lighting. A few things need like availability of. constant hot water, bedside lamps that have plugs that fit the wall sockets etc. but management is on it and I feel confident they will be fixed. As others have noted Ibrahim couldn't be more helpful. In a town not known for its hotels, this is a little gem.

I have beent to Petra many times, but this is the first time I stayed in this hotel yet the best hotel I've ever had in Petra. We were a group of two families with young children. The staffs were very friendly and helpful if we need something. It was a nice surprise when I see the room, I didn't expect that the room was clean, modern decorated and the beds were so confortable, it looks like in 5* hotel. The buffet dinner also delicious, a real home made cooking. Higly recommend it!

I made an online booking at the Valley Stars Inn through booking.com based on a recommendation from Charl Twal, owner of the Mariam Hotel in Madaba, and was so glad I followed his advice.

I arrived in Wadi Musa in the late afternoon after a long drive from the Dead Sea to a warm welcome from Ibrahim, the manager, who offered me a cup of tea and made me feel immediately at home. Hospitality is something that is not taken for granted in Jordan, and it is something that Ibrahim and the rest of the staff of the Valley Stars Inn obviously take great pride in.

The hotel is located near the top of the town of Wadi Musa, making it a bit further from the entrance to Petra than others, but since transportation to and from Petra was included in the price of the stay (at least it was in my case - be sure to check) this didn't matter in the slightest. If anything, because you're further away from the centre of town, the area is quieter, though admittedly, as it is located on the main road, there is always some level of street noise from traffic.

The room I was given was large, with a modern bathroom, flat screen TV (with satellite service) and air conditioning. Apparently the rooms on the 1st floor were all recently renovated, and it certainly shows. The room was very clean and well appointed with new furniture and clean linens.

As a solo backpacker, safety is always at the top of my priority list when looking for accommodations on a budget, and I always felt well looked after here.

Breakfasts weren't anything special: fruit, cereal, eggs, cheese and juice, coffee or tea, but were fresh and tasty and especially appreciated given my need to get up early on both of my mornings there.

Ibrahim was also helpful in arranging a bus ticket to Wadi Rum and recommending a camp to stay in, which turned out to be fantastic.

If I ever have the good fortune to be back to Wadi Musa again, I would book at the Valley Stars Inn without hesitation.

Check-in was cordial with a complimentary cup of juice or tea. The room was very clean and modern. Recently remodeled, new furniture, great looking rooms…
Free breakfast was breads, cheeses, jam, cereal, and hard boiled eggs. It was perfect for us. They have free pickup and drop-off to Petra entrance. It would be a big walk from Petra entrance uphill to the hotel but it wasn’t a big deal to catch a taxi up for 3-4JD. For other restaurants, markets, ATMs, we walked a little way down the hill and it wasn’t too far to walk back up the hill to the hotel.
Whatever you need, just ask the staff. They will do a nice large bagged lunch for 5JD a person (salami or cheese sandwich, pita with jam, juice box, cookies, orange, cucumber, tomato, napkins), just make sure you ask them to clarify which sandwiches they gave you and you may also want to request that they cut up the cucumber and tomato and put it on your sandwich prior to your day in Petra. Use their laptop for 2 JD/hour. Buy 10 postcards for 1 JD.

There's a lot of mumbo jumbo written about 'location' being the most important thing when it comes to hotels, so please do not let the location of this hotel put you off. With frequent shuttle runs 5 mins into town you actually benefit from a marvelous sunset view across the town whilst staying at the Valley Stars Inn.

This family-run boutique-style hotel is a welcome relief from a hard day's trek around Petra, boasting power showers and possibly the most comfortable bed I've slept in in months. The rooms are well appointed though the bathroom is a glassed-off area from the bedroom that might not be suitable for honeymooning couples not used to each other's toilet habits!

The family members will bend over backwards to accommodate you and quickly treat you as part of the extended family. Many of the other guests we met were regulars to Valley Stars, and I can understand why. Ibrahim, front-of-house brother, secretly got our taxi driver to stop off at places of interest on our taxi ride from Petra to Madaba. He didn't have to do this but it was a really nice touch, demonstrating that he has his customers' interests fore-front of mind.

I'd like to give this a five but the breakfast was not particularly exciting. Plenty to eat (it's a small self-service buffet) and tea available all day but it could just do with being a little bit more dynamic. Don't let that put you off though, the friendliness and comfort of this place more than makes up for it and after a sweaty day trekking amongst all the other tourists in Petra, there's a lot to be said for being whisked away at the end of it all to a little haven at the top of the town.

Well recommended.

Room Tip: For a sunset view make sure your bedroom is facing west (of course). That's overlooking the town...

We stayed in this hotel with the two of us for one night. The staff was friendly, were fluent in English and gave some good advice regarding places to eat (Al Arabi and Al Afandi restaurants). Rooms were nice and clean, with AC.

We only stayed here for one night but cannot speak too highly of this place. The staff were very friendly with the owner dropping us down to the Petra site after we arrived at the hotel. The hotel is situated above the main town but is only a short taxi ride down the hill to Petra / town centre. However there are a number of other hotels / restaurants around this hotel so it is not isolated.
When you see what Movenpick etc are charging in the town you will be amazed at this hotel's prices!

The owner's father was a previous governor of the area and he is very well regarded in the area.
We paid 28JD and were astounded at the quality of the accommodation. The whole place was recently renovated to a very high standard and would not look out of place in one of the good hotels in Europe. For example the bathroom was huge, enclosed in frosted glass.

The owner arranged for a bus to pick us up from the hotel for our trip back to Amman saving us a journey to the bus station.
My wife wished the accommodation on the rest of our trip in Middle East was like this!!
