“Delightful!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

I am from the U.S. and have stayed at the Dana Tower several times. I am always warmly greeted, love the eclectic rooms and the Philippine staff. The local manager is great, the food good and the guests there are from around the world. the views are super, the sunset is beautiful and the place is quiet.

Room Tip: Stay up high in a rood that gets a breeze and bring mosquito repellent during the summer.

Ok for the price.
The decoration in each room that we've visited is a bit weird and some "cave" rooms were smelly. Not many other visitors at the time of our trip so the feeling was a bit weird.
Other than that, the terraces are nice with great sunset view and nice staff and the dinner was good.

Dana Nature Reserve is an interesting Ecotourism destination: a system of wadis and mountains supporting various forms of wildlife, ideal for an unforgettable hiking adventure in nature. In the village of Dana, we decided to stay at TOWER HOTEL A dreamy, peaceful hotel with a rooftop terrace to enjoy a magnificent sunset, traditionally decorated and clean rooms with a view, each one with its own name and special character, tasty food and entertaining atmosphere at dinner, smiling and helpful staff: We really felt at home and we want to come back. A value for money choice.

"Welcome to Jordan" is a signmark of that hotel, we heard it so mant times there. The manager is a nice guy, and he pays attention to his guests.
The rooms are basic, but the view from the hotel is worth every money, though it's not that expensive.
The open buffet dinner provided was OK, but I guess that depends on home many guest are in the hotel.
Be careful not to lose the way to the canyon while descending.

It seems from other reviews that we do all have different tastes but I'm afraid I found the hotel decor just a bit too weird for my taste - and the rooms to be very basic. We had the Sunset Royal "Sweet" with a double bed but were only given two tiny sheets that wouldn't stretch to a single bed let alone a double - along with a blanket and bedspread. So do we lie on them or use them on top of us under the blanket & sleep on the mattress cover, either way we ended up wrapped up in them as too small to tuck in. The bedding and decor were a multitude of mismatching colours & the chairs in the room looked like they had come straight out of a skip and had nails sticking up from one of the arms! The doors are all made of metal and ours didn't close properly. Yes, very quirky. However, the Filipinos that manage the hotel made sure everywhere was spotless and they were very welcoming. Our rooms had been paid for as part of our tour so we paid an extra 10JOD (£10) for the buffet. There were plenty of dishes, including lots suitable for vegetarians like myself, but, compared to elsewhere in Jordan, it was overpriced for what was on offer.

On a final note, the owner of the hotel lives in a 'mansion' on the outskirts of Dana and I would suggest he could make just a little more investment in this place to raise the standards a tad. Sheets that fit the beds and towels that are bigger than a handkerchief that aren't coarse would be a starter.

We spent one night at this quaint hotel filled with character! Built out of a yellow rock and stone, this hotel is built on the edge of the tiny village of Dana. Sitting on one of the many public sitting areas outside, there are views of the garden area on the hills, but to see views of the Wadi Arabi, you have to walk about 1 min off the property, and then there is a spectacular view.

We stayed in 2 rooms in the tower, Ali Baba and Sunset Royal Suite. Each room in the hotel is different, with different bedspreads, decor, rock floor and tons of character. There is no heating so the rooms can get quite cool, even during the day, but the thick blankets provided kept us warm during the night. Bathrooms are basic and shared but there is hot water though you are required to turn it on for about 1/2 hr prior to use.

Staff is extremely pleasant and we were given welcome tea on arrival. The price of our stay which was 15JD per person included breakfast and supper which the latter is served at 7:30PM. The meal they served at supper was Jordanian food and by far one of our best meals on our trip. Needless to say, they only make so much in a buffet style and once it's gone it's gone.. and it was gone quickly, lol. It was THAT good.

Breakfast was VERY basic, with just a few small choices of veggies, hard boiled eggs, bread, juice and tea. You can buy lunch bags for 5JD for the day is you wish.

You can also hire a guide from here or from the main reserve for hikes around Dana. We had decided to just hire with the hotel to make things simpler, and our hike was good, however I'm about 99% sure that we did not go on the hike that we requested, nor am I sure we were actually in Dana reserve for that hike, though we paid the hotel for our entrance fees. It was still a fun hike and the guide was great with us. Not sure if it was a communication problem or if they were trying to make an extra buck ( that is, if we were not actually in Dana reserve).

Otherwise, we had a fantastic stay and would have actually like to have spent another night there as there were more hikes we would have loved to do.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the tower which I understand are much nicer
