“Perfect hotel and wonderful visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

I emailed and booked two rooms during our 2 day visit to Albania. We arrived late in the day to a warm and friendly welcome from all at the hotel, especially Bledi. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were perfect and beds VERY comfortable. Bledi gave us good recommendations for supper. I had a very good time chatting to Bledi about Albania which was incredibly interesting. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. If you get a room, book quickly.

It is very nice and traditional hotel in gjirokastro, the visitors of Albania must stay there... The rooms are very traditional and breakfast is very delicious The hotel staff is very kind and helpful... The only negative thing is the mosqitios in summer. This place is perfect for one night not more because of the small and quiet town...

Having a good experience in the Kalemi depends very much on the room they have. All of them are finished with poor material and appliances, but if you are lucky, everything still works. It is not difficult to preview than everything will ruin in a shot time. So if you decide to stay there, do it fast.

Room Tip: First floor, get the last room on your left.

We liked the stay in this hotel very much. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room and the hotel was fantastic. Near to the historical city centre and to the main historical and cultural sights. We really enjoyed everything. The breakfast was delicious as well. We strongly recommend this hotel, if you want to touch at least a bit of history.

After descovering that our family holiday had booked one hotel short, we found this and decided to go with it. It was easy to find since it had been sign-posted from the begining of old Gjirokastra. It took us through the heart of the city leading up the mountain - don't take the road leading around the town! From arrival you could see how beautiful all the wicker-work was. With original fireplaces and carved cilings, it was a pleasent find and an excellent choice of location with the town centre and castle both in easy walking distance.

Room Tip: Make sure you book in advance or you won't get this one, it fills up quickly! Make sure your ca...

I didn't have a reservation and the main hotel was fully booked but I stayed in another building (3 mins walk down the road) also managed by Hotel Kalemi and had breakfast at the main hotel. The rooms were spotless, huge and had amazing view of the castle. The bathroom was shared but again spotless and quiet. The breakfast was fantastic - eggs, fruit, coffee, toast, juice. Gjirokastra is a magical place and i would definitely recommend staying at Hotel Kalemi which is easily in walking distance of all the sites in the old town.

A warm welcome greeted our arrival at this hotel located in the heart of old Gjirokastra a great location only minutes from the castle, the ethnographic museum (which we visited - well worth it) across the road from Enver Hoxa's birthplace! - this can also be visited.

The room was clean, comfortable and well furnished, which along with the communal areas was in the 'Ottoman' style. A lovely terrace at the back of the hotel was our breakfast room! WiFi was available.

Gjirokastra is easily reached from Corfu via Sarande - and this hotel is a great and well priced option!
