“Not so impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

I stayed at the Lodge at Mount Magazine for an educational conference November 2012. The views are breathtaking and the property has lots of hiking trails. There was a small indoor pool however, I did not get a chance to try it out. The rooms are average in size and the décor could use a little updating. The Conference rooms were adequate for our small conference. Once you are at The Lodge there isn't much around other than Mother Nature. The Restaurant on the property is overpriced and the food is average. I think if the purpose of my stay were for a restful weekend reconnecting with nature (hiking, fishing, cave exploring, bird watching) The Lodge is perfect. However, for business and conference purposes the property is too isolated.

This lodge is built on the highest peak in Arkansas and is approx. 6 years old in 2013. We had a premium room on the top floor. The weather was very nice so sitting on the balcony was pleasant. Take hiking shoes and jeans if you want to enjoy hiking the rugged trails. The room was nice, but for the price paid, we felt it was missing some things. Not a lot to do on the mountain, so one night was enough for us. We're glad we went, but probably not a place for us to go back another time. "Been there, done that"

Room Tip: A place for a naturalist, outdoorsman. For the price difference, we went with the premium room. Gla...

I love this place so much I'm writing my review before we even check out. Our trip out west had to be postponed due to the government shutdown, but we feel like we're out west. This lodge has all the feel of the rustic lodges we've stayed in in Yellowstone and Yosemite, but has all the modern upgrades. Our jacuzzi tub had more jets and features than other hotel tubs and wifi in your room is lovely. All of the staff were engaging and glowed with pride in their lodge. I envy that they get to come here everyday! We used the workout room on a rainy day and it was like new. The view from a lot of the trails is like nothing we've ever seen and we hiked until our legs wouldn't go anymore. We were very pleased with both the menu items we ordered and the buffet in the restaurant. It was very easy to eat a vegetarian diet here. I really don't want to check out tomorrow, but the real world calls.

Room Tip: Room 109 was very quiet, had a great view and a jacuzzi tub with king size bed.

Sunset and sunrise over the Ozarks were spellbinding from Magazine Mountain Lodge. Our private balcony overlooked the valley where hawks circled on autumn breezes. We took wonderful photos hiking on a short trail steps from the terrace. The lodge is new, handsome and clean. Two disappointments: boring food in the dining room and a somewhat noisy fan (heat & cooling) that never shuts off in guest rooms. But this is a very special place in a spectacular location. We loved it.

Thank you for your feedback regarding Mount Magazine State Park. Gracing the mountain's south bluff, these first-class facilities offer sweeping views of the Petit Jean River Valley and distant Blue Mountain Lake below.
Please accept our apologies for your disappointments regarding our food and heating/cooling fans; we appreciate genuine comments from our guests. Our restaurant staff strives to provide variety of choices including specialty items unique to the Skycrest Restaurant; I will pass your comments to the Food and Beverage Director for future menu planning. Our heating / cooling system is a ventilation system utilized to insure good moisture control and indoor air quality; regrettably, this system causes the fans to run continually.
In addition, we would like to thank you for the complements about the facility and cleanliness. Thank you again for posting your review; your comments support our continual efforts to improve our service to visitors. We sincerely hope you will consider another visit to Skycrest Restaurant in the Lodge at Mount Magazine State Park.

We stayed at the Lodge on September 13 & 14, 2013. Our rooms were perfect and it was quiet (except for listening to the owl hoot when sitting on the balcony) :-) the food at the restaurant was excellent and the staff was very attentive. Can't wait to stay there again.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are great - get one with a balcony if available.

We stayed two nights at The Lodge. It is a beautiful building on a beautiful site. The room had light blocking drapes, so in addition to being quiet, it was also dark. We didn't hear noise from adjoining rooms or the hall. The indoor pool was wonderful! We had it to ourselves most of the time. One thing that really stood out was that every Lodge employee we met, from the registration desk to the cleaning crew, greeted us with a genuine smile and spoke to us. We would absolutely go back if we have the opportunity.

We stayed at the Lodge at Mount Magazine again this year during our Fall motorcycle ride. This is a very nice hotel with a superb view into an expansive valley. This was our third visit to the Lodge and each has been fantastic. They have a variety of rooms but this was our turn to get a bedroom suite so we and our friends have a place to be together. We had a 2nd floor corner suite with three balcony's and a fire place. This is a huge, beautiful facility which is well worth visiting. The rooms are always clean and the staff very helpful. Book rooms early since Reservations are required most of the year. The food in the Restaurant is just okay with nothing ever being great but for where you are sitting its more than adequate.
