“Pretty good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

Nice place - good staff, good food, not cheap but then not so expensive either.

Went to the Anchor at Morston which was pretty poor so if you're thinking of visiting one of the other definitely go for the bell.

Friendly staff, service could be improved a bit (at least one or two them were a bit under experienced) but all in all not so bad.

“Pleasant meal .... slightly highly priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

Our visit to the Bell was on a lovely hot summers day, so the garden area was a great place to have a drink before moving into the conservatory for our meal.
The meal itself was lovely, in particular the Pate to start. I chose lobster that whilst well cooked and presented was as other diners have commented very small for the money charged.
Service was friendly and competent.
My other (small) gripe was simply that whilst they had a reasonable wine menu, they had a tiny option for having the wine by the glass.
Overall I would re-visit as the food in itself was good, however it wasn't remarkable and slightly miserly in portion sizes, and hence I feel that it was somewhat overpriced.

“Fri evening with friends and family”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014 via mobile

This was our fourth visit to the Bell in the last couple of years and overall it is a very pleasant experience. Service was good but the food is starting to slip a little.

They had run out of whitebait and it was only 7 o'clock. That was a disappointment. The pork fritters were a non event. I had the lobster for main and learnt that a half small crustacean offers only three mouthfuls of meat. Very poor value for money I'm afraid. Left somewhat gastronomically let down.....

“Excellent food spoiled by rather poor service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

We arrived for Sunday lunch, just after the heavens had opened, which had resulted in all the outside diners having to be moved into the pub! Nevertheless our table was ready for us. The waitress who collected our order for drinks, took a very long time to get them to us - in fact the food arrived first and we had not been given any cutlery. When the drinks did finally arrive the order was wrong. The waitress was very unapologetic, almost implying that we had made a mistake, and then took ages to bring replacements. I know they were busy, but good manners and a sense of purpose in a waitress are vital in this kind of situation. We asked for water, and again had to wait, and finally ask someone else.
Such a shame that delicious food was marred by slapdash service.
