“Crater of Diamonds & Camp Ground, Murfreesboro, Arkansas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

We loved the whole adventure. Campgrounds were great, the fun at the Crater was really great. The other people hunting their fortune were fun to visit with.

“Fun expedition but dont expect to find anything”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

It was good - the videos are not too helpful and it is hard to find anything. Lots of digging and sluicing with no results. DO your research extensively online prior to coming as the staff is non-committal

“No Expecations Required”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

If you actually think you are going to find a diamond here...I might have swamp land to sell you. Do not go here with the expectation of finding your fortune. Go here with the idea of just having fun digging in the dirt.

“Getting dirty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Loved it, we will back all that you would expect from a state park, liked it so much thinking about moving to Ark....you will get dirty and crawl around in the dirt, I had a great time and I will be back

“No diamonds but it was still fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

Took my 4 kids there on 9/14/12. We (tent) camped at the park and even through it rained on us, we still had a great experience.

The park rangers are very helpful. They have a couple video and a demonstration station to get you started. They also have everything you need to hunt for diamonds available to rent.

You come there thinking its going to be easy to find a diamond, but as with all things worthwhile, it's not. But we found lots of cool rocks and the kids enjoyed being encouraged to 'just get dirty'.

Lots of friendly people there too. Its easy to strike up a conversation with the people around you while wet sifting or you can find a quiet corner of the field and dry sift by yourself all day long.

I was warned about how hot it could get and while that was not the case with us (it rained) I can see the lack of shade and the physical labor can be much especially on little kids. We had brought a pop-up tent just in case to provide us some shade in the fields.

I would go again if I were closer (Houston is a solid 7 hours away) but it was a fun time overall and I would highly recommend it.
