We decided on the way home to make a stop at Diamonds State Park. A place my wife always found intriguing after reading about it. It was an adventure, albeit a tiring one. If you like to dig in the dirt, or hunt for buried treasure, this place is for you!
The Park employees are friendly enough, and along with some reading and videos there, you are sent out on your way to see what you can unearth (literally). You can bring your own equipment or rent theirs. There didn't seem to be much difference either way. Considering we found nothing, I can't tell you if the secret is in where to dig or how to mine, but it was fun (for a while) in giving it a try. As for us, we pooped out after just a couple of hours of lugging dirt and sifting through it. Who knows though, with them finding diamonds almost every day, you could be far luckier than we were.
