Our group of three adults and two small children stayed at the Rocking Chair over Thanksgiving weekend. The area is beautiful, the resort was convenient to town and the cabins were secluded. I was a little disappointed that there was no view of the lake from the cabins, but later realized that part of what helps make the area so beautiful is that the Norfork Lake shoreline is is such a natural state and the resorts are probably required to build away from the lake.
Jane was very helpful in giving us info about buying an already prepared Thanksgiving dinner from Walmart in Mtn. Home. The cabins are spaced well apart and ours included a wonderful deck, table & chairs, charcoal grill and fire circle. It was also nice to be just down the street from the Robinson Point campground, which was deserted considering the time of year but included a new playground and beautiful lake view.
Of course the pool was closed at the Rocking Chair, but it looked very nice and is, I'm sure, wonderful in the summertime. All in all, the resort was clean and a good value.
A couple of things I didn't like about the resort--the cabins are a long walk or short drive to the lake and/or boat dock, and the game room was pretty dirty. Since the cold weather limited our outdoor activities, it would have been fun to spend some time in the rec room playing pool or letting the kids play with some of the toys, but it appeared to be pretty neglected in the off season. I'm sure it's much nicer and cleaner in the summer, when it is used more often.
