“Great Ferry Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

Can't say too much about this B & B as we arrived quite late in the day having been stuck in traffic and leaving quite early to catch a ferry. We chose this B & B for it's location close to the ferry terminal and it more than adequately served it's purpose.

We received a very pleasant welcome from Shelley who pointed out the information on places to eat that night and how to to help ourselves to breakfast the next morning.

The room was quite large, clean and bright. The bed was very comfortable and huge! There was also a comfortable, communal lounge area with an enormous DVD library which had been meticulously catalogued!

A good functional B & B.

Many Thanks, Carol & Phil Rickhuss, UK

Thanks for your review, we love hering all the feedback its a shame you couldnt have stayed longer as Petone is a great location to chill and relax but also close enough to Wellington for plenty of sighteseeing.

Despite a mix up with my booking caused by Agoda (straight back to Booking.com for me) Shelley quickly sorted me out a room with the least possible hassle.
Kenlea is immaculate, clean and above all welcoming and accommodating of guests needs.
Great help yourself breakfast; don't miss the eggs. Oh, and it has a lovely garden, sheltered from the inevitable Wellington wind.
Very close to numerous restaurants in Petone and close to the motorway into Wellington city, extremely convenient if you don't need to be walking distance from the city.

This cottage was sensational. From the lovely welcome we received from the owner Shelley, the immaculate condition of the house and beautiful gardens, the location next to the beach and the middle of Petone cafes, the chandeliers in every room, free range eggs and delicious continental breakfast, to the unexpected delight of our rooms being serviced each day! Great bathroom and water pressure, amazingly comfy bed, beautiful linen, good DVD collection and idyllic outdoor retreat area. It really felt like a home away from home. We stayed for four nights and it was a delight. I would not hesitate in giving this my highest recommendation. Thank you Shelley!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Kowhai room. It was perfect. Quiet, no hot afternoon sun.

Shelley is a great host. She was so helpful in getting us settled and thought of everything to make our brief stay wonderful. We really appreciated the washer and dryer in the cottage, we wish more B&Bs had this. Our only regret was that our stay wasn't longer.

What a real Gem Kenlea is, we stayed a night and was truly amazed with the facility and the friendliness of Shelly. Nothing was too much trouble especially the welcome. Our only regret was hat we had to leave early in the morning and we couldn't enjoy it longer. We will be back, one of the best in the Wellington area.

What a wonderful place to stay in every respect. Great Hosts. Comfortable beds, a good
Breakfast system with shared kitchen dining, an excellent guest lounge and the whole place is very clean, very quiet.
We stayed there first time by checking through the Yellow Pages and now after two great trips are booked to return in January 2013.
Parking is on the street but is ample and in my opinion relatively safe.
The owners, Shelley and Clive, live in the house next door which leaves the guests to talk, share adventures and stories amongst themselves.
Laundry facilities available.
Petone has a great range of boutique and national restaurants.
Cannot recommend highly enough.

This was a quaint little bungalow in the heart of a suburb of Wellington, very easy to get to from the ferry terminal. The hosts were friendly and helpful with selecting a restaurant for dinner – there were lots to choose from in walking distance to the cottage. Parking was easy. Our room had a toilet and sink ensuite, and we used the larger bathroom for showering - which was no problem at all. The kitchen was well-stocked for continental breakfasts, the living room was comfy and there were lots of DVDs and local information pamphlets. We would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.
