“We ate there two nights out of two.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014 via mobile

This restaurant is a treat! The food is wonderful all by itself, and the decor is eye candy for the creative person is many of us. We returned the 2nd night in Castro and tried different items on the menu. It was all fantastic.
The owner is an energetic young man who is tuned into his customers and his wife is the Chef. Great combination!
Try and eat here even if you only have one day in Castro.

“food here makes you forget the rain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

We arrived in Castro along with cold, wet weather. We were sent to Mercadito for dinner and wow! we forgot all about the weather. I had the corn pudding with fresh veggies and my companion had the conger stew. Both delicious. A few days later, we said goodbye to Castro by having an amazing bowl of lentil soup here. Believe me, you've never had a better lentil soup. Everything is fresh and you can taste the difference.
And the owner, Phillipe, will give you a warm welcome.

“Exquisite seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

Exquisite crab pudding, mussels, crab pincers, and grilled octopus. (The latter stingy portion but tasty.) So good we came here two nights in a row. This is easily one of the best restaurants we have been in during 3 months in Chile.

“creamy pasta and a giant beer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

this was a great place to eat. It a very neat vibe, great ambiance and the people were freindly and inviting. the homemade bread was to die for and the pasta was truly a culinary delicasy. It was a little on the expensive side for someone trying to travel on the cheap but it was worth the few extra dollars for what you get.

“Great food in a beautiful and cosy restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

I went to Mercadito last night with my family. They were very attentive and did everything to make us comfortable. The food is great (try the chupe the jaiba and the suspiro limeño), the service excellent and the restaurant is beautiful decorated (you will spend quite some time checking all the nice details). This place is a MUST!
