“Words cannot describe how excellent the stay was!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2010

Beautiful place. Excellent services. Wonderful people. Our room was a 2 queen bed that felt just like a bedroom in your own home. Flat screen TV, two nice beds, a bathroom attached with all your needs met. Breakfast included that is made to order. You climb the stairs to a large living room with a pool table, wonderful large couches, and two flat screens. There is a refrigerator, coffee pot, and microwave for your use. Highly recommend!

The resort is located at the base of Arkanas' second highest mountain, Rich Mountain, just off a somewhat busy two-lane highway. It’s easy to find and easy to access, and perfectly located to serve as a base camp for lots of nearby outdoor activities at state parks, lakes, rivers, and mountains.

There are two parts to the resort; the old and the new. The new part is first class, with stone walls, marble floors, rich wooden trim, chandeliers, piano, works of art, etc. The old part is quaint and homey, if a bit worn, and more suited to the intrepid vacationers who intend to get their shoes gritty at the rivers and lakes, and bring along their dog (which we did). All the rooms are soundproof, so once you close your door and windows, you don't hear anything, even people playing in the pool. It’s very peaceful and private.

The service is outstanding. The owners and staff go out of their way to ensure that your every need is met. The staff cooks your meals to your preference whenever you want them (within reason). They have a chef named "Red" trained in New York who can whip up a five-star meal any night of the week, and another, "Doug," who makes a mean grilled home-style steak with secret seasoning that won't disappoint. Breakfast there is a treat. You can get just about anything your heart desires, and as much as your stomach can hold.

The pool is centrally located and filled with salt water, which makes the water softer and much more enjoyable than a chlorinated pool. They also have this fabulous oldstyle jukebox with modern acoustics that plays lots of classic rock and roll, country, and jazz, free of charge. It was fun picking 10 or 20 songs and then hearing them play as I floated in the soft cool water under a brilliant starry sky.

One opportunity for improvement is that the resort is still under construction, and the back portion of the property is littered with building materials and debris, which violates the scenic beauty and robs the property of its innate charm. We were not inspired to taking evening strolls around the property. Given the great service and attitudes we experienced, we are certain the owner will eventually clean all that up and transform the surronding proprty into the small paradise it is destined to become.

All given, we loved the resort, the resort owners and staff, and the surrounding area, and we intend to visit again soon.

We loved this resort .... there is still some construction going on (adding new rooms) but it did not bother us at all. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The chef ("Red") is an outstanding cook and did an excellent job of taking care of us. We would go back in a heartbeat and plan on doing so as a group again next May. We hope to utilize all their rooms at that time.

Over-stated and over-priced. It is not on a mountain (or even near one). Under construction. Few amenities. Good breakfast. Not easy to find. Advertized a heated pool but it wasn't heated and it contained salt water.

Mena Mountain Resort is new and I just lucked into finding it on a web search.
Although it's not in the mountains, it is on many acres with ponds and trees.
The resort/bed and breakfast is beautiful and the owners have thought of more than everything for the enjoyment and comfort of their guest. Large rooms with balconies, large common areas for dining, visiting, pool playing, watching big screen TV,etc.
The beds are so comfortable I didn't want to get out of them. The breakfast served on the morning we were there consisted of eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage and bacon. It was very good. The owners said they were continuing to expand the resort to have a cabana around the pool area and talk of bringing in entertainment on weekends. The town of Mena is dry, so if you want to enjoy an alcholic beverage, then BYOB. The resort also has a large meeting room for parties or conferences, plus a game room by the pool.
We throughly enjoyed our stay.
