Arrived late in the afternoon. Checked out a few motels in town that had a good price, but were dumps. The only other decent motel was fully booked. Rode back to the Mena Mountain Resort, which we had info on but hadn't really wanted to spend $149 for a nights stay. But, we were stuck. Certainly glad we were "forced" to stay here! What a great place. Beautifully decorated room, extremely clean, winding staircase leading to rooms and a nice game room with pool table. Met the owner, Lou, who was very nice to deal with. Lou gave us a discount on the room, moved cars out of the covered driveway to allow for our motorcycles, turned us on to a good restaurant in town and was very helpful. They cook you a great breakfast and have it ready at whatever time you tell them. After checking out the next day and riding the Talimena Scenic Drive, we stopped off at a pub in Heavener, OK, about 75 miles away. We were talking to the owner of the pub and telling him about the great place we stayed at and he said "Oh yeah, Lou's a great guy and has the nicest place in the whole region! Word gets around!
