“Clean, Quiet, and Functional”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2010

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice a motel this was in this small a town. I came to town on business, and there aren't many other choices in the area. I would definitely stay at this spot again.

It's not the lap of luxury, and the location is what it is (McGehee, AR), but I don't have any complaints. The A/C was good, the room was clean, and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast room was tiny, but I just grabbed my food and walked back to my room anyway.

The big flat screen TV worked well, the wireless internet worked well, the bed was fine, and the room was a pretty good size.

If you're looking for a great location with things to do - not so much. If you're looking for a clean place to lay your head down for the night, I would recommend.

The hotel room was average - nothing special. It was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The expanded breakfast included biscuits and grave, sausage patties, egg rounds, and frozen pancakes. It was ok for a night, but I thought it was overpriced for a hotel out in the middle of nowhere, Arkansas. I would have expected it to be around $50 something, especially since it had a very high vacancy rate.

This is a pretty decent Best Western. The staff are quite nice here. One thing that was a pleasant surprise was that they have a pretty good variety of items on offer for breakfast. The rooms were quite clean and I did feel safe here.

  • Liked — They had a good variety of items for breakfast.
  • Disliked — Just a 'tad' expensive.

I was traveling through on a family emergency and tried to stop in Lake Village and there wasn't any room at the hotel there, so I had to drive on to McGehee. The Best Western is about the only choice. I felt safe, but it just wasn't the same high quality that I usually experience in a Best Western. The room really smelled and I thought it was inside the room, but the next morning, my husband said that outside smelled the same way. We think it was the fields next to the hotel as they were crop dusting them or something. Also, around 9pm or so, someone outside went along the whole outside doors and sprayed bug spray and the smell really made me sick as I'm pregnant. My husband looked outside to see what was going on and they were spraying as there were crickets outside everywhere. It wasn't just the hotel fighting this problem though as my husband drove to the Sonic to grab a bite to eat and he said they had just as many crickets there as well. I appreciate that the hotel was trying to keep the bugs out of the rooms, but I just wish there had been a better way to do it. The breakfast the next morning wasn't very good either. There wasn't any cream cheese to go with the bagels or butter. If I had to, I could stay here again, but it was not my normal great experience with Best Western

  • Liked — It was in a safe area
  • Disliked — The smells

This hotel has been recently update with new paint and accented walls. Now has duvets with turn down bed and 4 to 5 pillows. Free hi-speed internet and microwave and refrigerator in every room.

I found the Best Western - McGehee to be comfortable, clean, well managed and a pleasure to find in a small town. I would suggest that anyone traveling in that area give it a try.
