“Superb Hotel with Excellent Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

On arrival we were greeted with Mamosa drinks while we checked in, this level of excellent service continued throughout the whole week. The entertainment programme was non stop and fantastic, the Mardi Gras night was great! The rooms are continuously serviced all day with mini bar restocking, turning down and general maid services. Room service is 24 hours a day, we used it once and our food was delivered within 15 minutes. We ate at Capers (Italian), Tamarindo (Mexican), Bluewater Grill (Seafood and Steakhouse), Barefoot Grill (Lunchtime Beach Buffet) and Carnival Cafe (International Buffet). We found Capers to be very good and the best of the themed restaurants and Tamarindo was the worst at only average. The Carnival Cafe was overall our favourite place to eat as the choice was tremendous and the staff were always friendly and efficient, a special thanks goes to Joander who stood out as providing exceptional service. We weren't a preferred guest and didn't feel as though we missed out on anything except free wifi, we paid $15 for 15 hours over 6 days and for our daughter we paid $60 for the week unlimited, and the login can only be used on one device, I did try to use my wife's and it didn't work. This $90 was much cheaper than the $630 to upgrade to preferred. The wifi works on the beach area closest to the hotel and also round the pool and was fast enough for our daughter to watch Netflix on her phone.
We would definitely return to Now Larimar.

Room Tip: We had a tropical view room and it was close to the pool, restaurants and beach.

We just got home from 8 days and 7 nights stay! Let me start with saying the resort is beautiful, the staff is very friendly, and we felt safe at all times. Manual is the man at the resort! Our Maid in Tropical View was also amazing!

Prior to arrival we realized our travel agent booked us in garden and we knew that we wanted to pay to upgrade to at least to tropical with the rest of our party. The week before we got here I called and emailed the resort and was told that it was full and this was not an option. When we arrive at the resort I once again request to purchase an upgrade and I am advised I am told they are full and my only option is Garden hotel. I agree and we make our way over. Check in went smoothly and the room is not bad at all. It is what I would call a swim up room and very nice. In the meantime while I am checking in and unpacking my friend who is getting good married at the resort is at main office trying to get the upgrade she was promised. What a two hour hassle! They advise her that we can upgrade for additional $20 per night. Great this is all we have been wanting. We go back to pay and was told no again. As you can imagine after a long day of traveling I asked for a manager and we got upgraded at no cost.

We took all precautions and did not drink the water or brush our teeth in the water. We had stomach flu symptoms severe! Almost everyone in our group of 24 suffered some kind of sickness. Take medicine! It is expensive in the resort. You are going to need it!

The food is okay. It is much different than we are used too. I think Castaway's was the best followed closely by the Japanese Hibichi grill. I would suggest you bring snacks such as Pringles, crackers, popcorn etc. They sell these in the resort but very expensive.

The beach is very pretty and the entertainment team is fun! Flash rocks! We did yoga on the beach, played games, volleyball, and danced! The Amstar tour sales folks are worse than used car salesman. They will not leave you alone when you are on the beach. We finally purchased a deep sea fishing trip from them. 2 boats for $2300 and they took them to rough sea and one boat was back sick within 2 hours. The Delta rep inside said this is normal for them and they do it to make quick dollars. We called them out and asked for refund and they never talked to us again. These guys work for the resort! Do Not purchase anything from them. We booked the boogies and Sonoma Island from Delta rep and everything went well!

I had my eleven year old with us and he had a great time! He never went to explores club, but played volleyball, swam in the foam, and loved the sports bar! They have plenty to keep everyone in the family busy. The shows in the plaza are great!

My friend was getting married and brought 24 guest. I felt like the resort did not care how much was spent and treated her like any other guest. She had to demand an upgrade, the hair stylist new little english, and when the dress was sent to laundry prior to wedding it came back with brown stains on the front! This is a huge deal! The resort downplayed it. The white shirts that were sent to laundry also had brown stains. The wedding was on the beach and beautiful! The pictures are great! I am not sure but I feel like when you get married bring 24 guest that spent in the ball park of $40,000 combined that you should do got the VIP treatment. She did get two free perfered passes and a couple massage.

Do not upgrade to perfered. Take my advice on this. In the perfered bar you can get premium liquor and American Beers! There are no wrist bands. They have no idea who has and has not upgraded. We heard lots of complaining on this.

Overall the resort was nice and clean. You do not need mosquito spray they spray daily and we never got bit. You do need to bring lots of suncreen. If you run out and need to purchase the cost in the resort is $30! We felt like the resort took our safety very serious and always new when when you left and with who which is very nice!

Besides a few setbacks we had a great trip and made some amazing memories! The Domican locals are very friendly and we look foward to coming back!

Room Tip: The Garden Rooms are nice but off to their self and require a golf cart to main resort. The tropical...

Dear ApostolidesAdventures
We truly regret to read that your holidays were not completely satisfying as we aim.
Please receive our apologies for the inconveniences you might have encountered during your visit. Our main goal is to provide the best vacation experience to our valuable costumers .We truly regret that you left our premises with an opposite idea in your mind.
However we will like to clarify that regarding your concern about your cases compared with other people, or even talking on behalf of third parties, we will like to inform you that we study every case individually, and there are always 2 sides of the story.
However we will like to kindly inform you that we are audited regularly and periodically by an external international company Crystal that ensures that our hotel, our protocols, food, beverages etc, are in perfect healthy and hygienic conditions, and in case there was any outbreak or possible problem we would be the first to realize it and take the necessary actions. We have a very strict follow up of the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and we have a Quality and Hygienic audit, who is responsible for the correct handling of food and drinks we serve to our guests. We are certified by Cristal (Check Safety First) and we are randomly analyzed by inspections for food safety & hygiene. We have reviewed, with our quality personnel, all the reports and exhaustive audits of the quality of the products that we provide in the hotel and fortunately, we have not found any viral anomaly.
When there is a bacteria outbreak within our Resort, it is usually not limited to just a few individuals all from the same group, but rather a much larger sample of the covers, and we did not have any evidence of that happening. We do not have any medical report of guest visiting the doctor, neither asking for soft diet, etc.
With this we are not trying to find an excuse just informing you that we have to study every case individually and try to find the best solution possible taking into consideration a lot of facts.
Sometimes we forgot that this is a very hot and humid weather, indeed travelers are always going to be a little more vulnerable to getting sick due to the stress and excitement inherent in the travelling process. Once you add a change in time zone and climate, changes to your usual diet, and over-indulgence in drinking and sun; the likelihood for vulnerability to getting sick increases. The most common complaints in tropical countries like the Dominican Republic are upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea, and sun-related fever. The best thing to do on arrival is to ease your body into things slowly.
Precaution is the key. Avoid over indulgence, introducing changes to your regular routine as gradually as possible. Stay hydrated, use sunscreen and wash your hands constantly. And if you do feel symptoms during your visit, ensure you get plenty of rest and drink lots of water. This will allow your body to maintain the energy it needs to fight off sickness.
However we thank you for your concern and red flag of awareness. We want to assure you that we take your concern and discomfort very seriously so we are dedicating our most professional efforts to also implement best actions to prevent this kind of things from happening in the future.
Please feel free to contact us if you decide to give us a second chance to show you the way we care about our customers.
Best regards,
Angel Holgado

My husband and I just returned Sunday, 3/1, from the NOW Larimar Punta Cana and we were very impressed by everything including the entertainment staff of J.C., Charlie Brown, Bruno Mars and Flash. Also the buffet staff of Christian A and David were great! Bar staff of Auri, Smerlin and Nelflix kept our drinks cold and full. Our niece is getting married at this resort in September and we assured her she has made a good choice for her venue.

Room Tip: The upgrade to the pool-view rooms is worth the added cost!

Now Larimar is a pretty average all inclusive. Rooms a very spaced out and the service ends at a certain time. I had a room that was pretty far from the main lobby and required a golf cart. At night time these carts were no where to be found. Restaurants were average. The Hibachi restaurant was very low in quality surprisingly. Drinks were definitely below average (no top shelf). The beach was nice besides the hagglers that are always trying to get you to buy something. Highlight of the trip was when we went dune buggying off the resort. I'm a travel agent and have become a pretty hard grader of all inclusives. I would probably not visit this one again.

This was my 3rd all-inclusive experience and my Fiancé's 2nd. Though it was a great trip and a beautiful setting, the service was definitely not "excellent" like the resort promised!

We decided to splurge on a partial ocean view and the Premier Status, with hopes of being spoiled rotten. The room and view were exactly what we were anticipating, however, the Premier status was not the service that was promised or anticipated....

The disappointment started as soon as we arrived....yes we arrived before the 3pm check-in time, but we never expected to have to wait an additional 2 hours before our room was ready (5 pm). The only people who seemed to pay any attention to us were the circling Vacation Unlimited sharks, who were pushing their "vacation club"....a glorified time share. These folks look exactly like the regular staff, they just have a different name tag. Once we were "allowed" into our room, we were disappointed once again by the 2 Queen beds. Yes we had requested a King, and no the trip was not booked last minute....actually it was booked approximately 6 months prior. Being the good sports that we are, we pushed the bed together and made the most of it!

The next issue we had was with housekeeping and the erratic schedule and inconsistencies. We had to request towels on our 1st night, as there were only 1 large bath towel in the room. The 2nd day we had to request that they come and clean it. After that, we decided to go to the concierge and request housekeeping between 11am-3pm, which we thought was a pretty reasonable request and were assured our request would be honored.....needless to say, a couple days later at 5pm, we had to request that our room be cleaned again! Sometimes we only received 2 large towels, and sometimes 3 or 4. Sometimes we got no bath mat, and other times no hand towels. Sometimes we got creamer for our coffee and sometimes not. Sometimes we got stirrers and other times not.

When we signed up for an excursion, the Amstar Rep suggested that we go to the concierge to pre-request a room service breakfast, as the trip was early and the buffet wouldn't be open yet. We decided to take his advice and went to the Premier concierge to set it up as well as a reservation for Spice. The oh-so-helpful gentleman behind the desk had no idea how to do either, and then had the gal to ask if we could order him "a pizza from room service" as another employee "had called out sick" and he would have "no break to get dinner"....really?!? When my Fiancé went down to the main lobby concierge to report the incident, he was told the the other guy was "new, didn't know the rules" and "doesn't have the passwords for the computer system yet....." No real apology!

And last but not least....try to avoid the Plaza area when they have vendors....they are extremely aggressive and pushy! These are the ones who are approved by the resort itself!

Yes there were some wonderful things about our vacation....the views, weather, cleanliness of the resort as a whole and some excellent waitstaff but as for the Premier Status....not worth the money!! I think management needs to visit a Barcelo resort to get an idea of what real service, Premier or not, truly is!! My Fiancé and I will not be sharing any more of our hard earned money with Now or any of their affiliates! Mediocre at best....

My fiancée and I just returned from a week at Now Larimar where their tag line is "good is not enough, we strive for excellent", well, they missed the mark. It started with our room not being ready till 5pm(check in is 3). During our wait we were engaged not by resort staff but by Vacation Club salespeople who swarmed when they noticed we were checking into the Preferred Club. Ah yes "Preferred Club", brings expectations of superior service doesn't it? Not so much here. On at least three occasions we had to contact the concierge to send housekeeping to attend to the room. Which they did promptly. But inconsistently. Sometimes two towels, sometimes three, sometimes creamer for the coffee, sometimes not, maybe a copy of the resort daily paper, maybe not.
On one occasion, the man at the "preferred club" concierge desk, was unable to assist with an early room service request and sent me to the desk at the front of the resort. But before I left his area, he asked if I could order HIM a pizza from room service! The front desk staff was able to help me with my needs, but explained that the other employee was new and did not have the required computer passwords to access room service. Maybe he should have been mixing drinks instead of pretending to assist resort guests.
It wasn't all bad tho. The resort is clean and the views are beautiful. Also the wait staff in the buffet and the beachfront eatery Castaways were superb! A big shout out to Victor!! He kept us smiling.
Watch out for pushy vendors on the beach as well as in the main plaza the one day they let them in.
While we did enjoy our time there, the staff is inconsistent at best with a few standouts. Don't bother paying the extra for Preferred Club unless you want room service every day and in room wifi. You won't be treated any differently than at the Holiday Inn.
We will never return to Now Larimar or any of the AM Resorts Brands.

We stayed in the Gardens area of this resort which is like 1/2 mile away from the main Lobby, Plaza and Restaurants.
There is however a very good shuttle service with friendly drivers that drive you into the main lobby and guest services area.
We felt privileged up over there in our swim up ground level rooms, in a relaxing atmosphere, with nice landscaping and the choices for walkaways, the good pool bar service and being close to the tennis courts.
I work for a hotel group in my country and I recommend with no doubts this resort. Hope everybody can enjoy from it as me and my party did.

Room Tip: Choice a swim up room at the Gardens Area if you love to relax in a lovely spot.
