“First-Time All-Inclusive-a real winner!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

Not knowing what to expect from an all-inclusive resort, we approached the property with wary eyes. We asked for the availability of an upgraded room upon checking in as we had emailed weeks earlier letting the resort know that we were celebrating my 50th birthday and wanted to make this vacation special. We were immediately shown both a Junior Suite and a standard room. Although the Junior Suite was nice, we stayed with our "booked" choice, a standard room. We were surprised and felt they were unprepared for us when we saw 2 double beds, a cot and a crib in the room. We called to have them removed. After getting settled, we ventured to the pool area. It was near closing time (6:00 pm) so our first view was of a very "used" pool area. I have to admit, we were a bit turned off. To our surprise, the next day, the area was spotless. The staff truly work hard at keeping the place clean and the grounds well maintained. We really enjoyed both the pool and the beach. Our stay was looking better as the day progressed. We received a note under our door from Mr. Sanchez asking to meet with my husband. They met and we were extremely pleased to find that we were upgraded to a suite with two rooms (a separate bedroom with two beds for our 8 and 10 year old girls). The important thing is that the Iberostar truly works hard to satisfy their guests-all one needs to do is ask. The weather was perfect, getting humid only at the end of our stay. The ocean water is clear and warm. The food, although different from what we are used to in America, was plentiful with an exceptional variety of higher end items. You could find something to please every palette. Of course, we worried about drinking the water, which tasted great and in no way made us sick. The foodservice staff were always clearing and replenishing almost empty buffet platters with fresh food. More than once they accommodated my request for fresh pancakes for my daughters. The specialty restaurants were very good, we especially liked the Mexican Restaurant, Maria Bonita. There were plenty of "organized activities" and staff that truly appeared to enjoy entertaining. I loved the water aerobics and dance lessons. Let me just say, there is always something going on. The night entertainment was fantastic the night we went to the stage at the Dominicana side of the resort. We saw a "carnival" that was as good as a show you might book in a big city. The housekeeping service was impeccable. The room was cleaned early enough in the day so that we always had fresh towels when we returned from the beach and pool. The staff made us feel very welcome with balloons, fresh flowers and "towel art" made into swans and hearts on the beds. Everything you need is right at the resort: a gym (which should be updated), a sauna/spa, shopping area, water sports (we loved sailing the catamaran) entertainment, photo shop, food, food and more food (don't forget the drinks....my favorite is the freshly made sangria at the lobby bar-even asked for the recipe! Note: top shelf liquor is at the lobby bars, not the pool bars). We asked for a photo shoot with the professional photographer at the photo shop who gave us so much time and shots to choose from-we have some great quality photos of our family on the beach and in the waves-all for $12.00 each! All-in-all this was the best vacation we have taken. I would highly recommend Iberostar Punta Cana and plan to visit another Iberostar location again soon.

This slice of heaven was just what we needed; great location, great people, and great service. My friend and I stayed here from July 10-17. Even with the threat of Tropical Storm Chantal looming, this vacation is one of my favorites.
The appearance of the resort is postcard perfect. The grounds are well maintained, the pools and beach are very inviting, and housekeeping ensures a clean room for you to return everyday. I especially enjoyed the floral arrangements and water pieces throughout the property. The guys who maintained the pools and beach were up early every morning making sure they were clean and ready for the day's activities. Even though the rooms seemed dated, housekeeping kept the room cleaned. This included sweeping and mopping the entire room everyday we were at this resort.
Upon check-in, hospitality started a soon as we stepped out of the transport van and didn't end until we back in the van leaving for the airport. The bellboy happily led us to check-in where we were greeted by a friendly staff led by the great HECTOR RIVAS. We had two slight issues upon checking in, but Hector took care of us and quickly resolved both problems. The staff is very friendly and will converse with you no matter how busy they are at time and despite our lack of Spanish language skills.
The staff goes above and beyond making sure you are satisfied, relaxed, and worry free.
They are happy to keep your drink glass filled, your eating area cleaned, and your min bar stocked. If there are any toiletries that you need, just call down to the front desk, and housekeeping will take care of you.
There are two reasons I won't give this resort 5 stars: The food and spirits. We were there for 8 days, so we were able to make three reservations at one of the ala cart restaurants. The rest of the time we would eat at the buffets. The Mexican and Oriental and seafood restaurants were good. The buffets, however, were not my favorite. The mixed drinks were good, but the liquor in them tasted the same. It didn't matter if you had vodka, rum, gin, or whiskey. They were not that strong. I eventually just ordered virgin tropical mixed drinks.
I would gladly come back to this Iberostar. I had a wonderful, relaxing vacation that went beyond my expectations.

Accommodation 4star .Family room 1 queen size bed &2 nearly double size beds in second bedroom both with their own air on & ceiling fan.
Food 4 star. plenty of choice in the buffet restaurants plus the La Cana & Fish restaurant are O K & makes a pleasant change to be served.
Drinks O K with local (low strength) beer, some premium spirits, but poor quality wine.
Animation team 5 STAR. Just could not fault the talent, enthusiasm & fun loving team.Whoever put these nut cases together must be as mad as them.
It would be wrong to single out one individual, but Evelyn has "mucho problems" & has to be my favourite.
If we went back to this resort, we would try to find out who was in the team because they certainly made our holiday & they will make yours

This is very much a family resort & may not suit middle aged or older couples travelling on their own. There are kids everywhere but perhaps this was due to the time of year.
This brings me to comment on the "enviroment".
Temperatures are in the thirties
& humid with it.
"Mossies" are a problem after dark, so go prepared.
There is nowhere to walk to outside the resort & if you want to explore then speak to Cesare at customer services. We hired a local cabbie for $120 & he showed us around for 2 & half hours, but we could have had longer for the same price.Obviously you can go on a holiday company excursion, but this will cost you mega "bucks".It would have cost us 95 $ each for the trip we liked.£320 for the 5 of us.I don't think so.They really take advantage of the fact we were so cut off & were reluctant to go it alone.
We wanted to visit the Hard Rock hotel because friends were staying there, but they would not let us in as we we were not resident there & this goes for all hotels in this area.
Overall we had a great time & would recommend it particularly for families.

Room Tip: Being on the ground floor was very useful for going backwards & forwards to the pool,restaurants...

Me and my family have been here twice, it is absolutely fantastic, the staff are friendly and make you feel as if there part of your family, the service is good, the foods pretty good, theres the help yourself buffet, with amazing centre pieces, 2 beach restaurants, steak house, Mexican, several shops and once a week some of the local traders come to the hotel to show you what they have to offer,

The beaches are spotless, crystal blue seas, sun and there's a piña colada just round the corner,

the hotel offers day trips out and about in the local area, they're well worth a butchers,

All in all I love this place and leaving it and the staff is like loosing a friend, I will be returning again soon, as I can't seem to stay away from this fantastic country,

Visited this hotel from 28/6/13 Firstly our check in was fast due to our thomson rep Andres. (who we found very polite, helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for him all way through our holiday)

ROOM very clean, very tidy maybe a little dated.

FOOD A good selection, different theme every night (maybe a little salty for our taste at times)

RESTAURANTS In general very good, our favourite was the oriental.

BEACH Very nice, could get busy at times, towel reserving every morning was a bit off putting,

STAFF Entertainment staff were crazy ( in a good way ) we couldnt fault them

BAR STAFF And waiting staff did an excellent job although their singing was poor (only joking)

ENTERTAINMENT Was good most nights

All in all had a really good holiday, nobody was ill, didnt want to come home and would happily return again. Enjoyed this part of DR better than Puerto plata and last of all when we had a warning for a tropical storm and felt the hotel dealt with this well.

5th consecutive trip to Iberostar Punta Cana. The place is so perfect, why go elsewhere. Our favorite front desk mngr. Hector Rivas, even had our same room ready for us on arrival.Always beach chairs to be found. Beautiful clean beach. No wait to make reservations. So many choices of dining options, and buffet is just as good as any - plenty of food and lots of variety. Funny though, while on the beach, we keep going back for more steak and salad - the best is the seafood paella by pool. The BB have something different everyday from 12:30 Pm To 2:00 Pm, Staff always friendly and helpful. Excellent special parties and receptions. Room clean and well decorated with flowers and towel decor. The Director Mrs Elena Santos and Asst. mngr. David Lopez always out and about, talking to guests, checking amenities. I don't think They sleeps. All the staff are the best. Happy, happy, and great attitudes. I want to thank them all, but don't remember names. We'll see you again next year.

Room Tip: (Family rooms) on 2nd or 3rd FL.
