“Spring break - pretty good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2011

We found this place for spring break a few months before departure on travelocity. We were offered an amazing deal and decided to take it. Overall, this place has a lot to offer for the price. The food is alright - make sure you wake up early to make reservations at the four restaurants on site. The buffet food is good for breakfast, but not all that great for dinner. Drinks are all real sweet, but they have beer as well. We had a great trip!

I would recommend this hotel to friends for-sure. after reading reviews i was very nervous about staying at this resort, but when we arrived it was more then i had expected. I agree with some of the complaints , one being food was not the greatest but you could always find something to fill your tummy with. They had hand sanitizer at the front of the buffet i saw someone had said they got sick because there was no hand sanitizer. Our room was very modern and kept very clean, always wash clothes and towels .
The entertainment was not so good but good effort on their part. Disco was one of the best ive ever been to for a resort disco they played current music.
We stayed in the hotels closest to main pool DO NOT stay in the little cottage looking place its far from the beach and pools you have to take a train to get anywhere i would have very upset if we had stayed there.
All and all we had a great stay at ifa and would go back tomorrow if i could. If your looking for five star luxury's the book a five star hotel!!!!

Room Tip: best rooms are by the main pool

The beach was absolutely beautiful and the pools were very clean and enjoyable.
The buffet had a wide variety of good food, something for everyone. We also waited in line for the A La Cartes, the line moved very quickly, we went to a different A La Carte every night and the food was very good. We especially enjoyed the pizza and snack bar,
Anna and the staff there certainly made it an enjoyable place to sit and relax, Randy was very entertaining while doing his job. Our room was clean and the maids were excellent. The resort staff from the time we checked in to the time we checked out were more than helpful and courteous. We would recommend this resort for anyone looking for a relaxing enjoyable vacation.

My husband and I and Two friends stayed at IFA Ocean Bavar Resort & Spa from March 28 - April 12, 2011. This was our 10th. visit to the Dominican Republic. The Resort was very clean, the staff were friendly and the food was terrific. If you can't find anything to eat, then you have to be very, very picky...there was Turkey, ham, roast beef, pork chops, chicken, chicken wings, hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries, Chinese foods, spring rolls, rice, sweet and sour chicken, and breakfast that was fit for a king and queen and not to mention, the best pizza I've ever eaten. and three lacarta's that you could go to as many times as you want during your stay, the only down fall is that you have to book them each day you want them...you can't book them in advance.

The rooms were very clean and spacious. The toilet area could have been a little more private, but it was fine for a couple. There was a flat screen TV in each room, with some english channels as well. There is a hair dryer and a small fridge in each room - stocked with bottle water daily. There is a coffee machine in each room which coffee is replenished daily. Ther is No Iron or Ironing Board available in any room,,,, so if you are picky with regards to wrinkles in your clothes.....bring your own....the do not provide one. There is a safe and key available for about $20.00 per week that you can rent in your room if you want to put your valuables in. The air conditioning in each room works really well...remember to take a little twine or a long bungy cord...so you can hang your swimming suits out to dry....there is no where to hang up your wet cloths - except for a small rack over the toilet...which is not very god...if it falls off the rack---it will end up in the toilet....ha, ha.

The entertainment is fabulous ,,,, however, if you are a light sleeper...(Like me) make sure you request a room away from the theatre.....because the shows can go on until about 11:30 - 12:30...and it can be very loud if your room is close....

They have roosters, chickens, hens and other animals on the resort...which are nice to take pictures of - however, the rooster likes to wake everyone up very early.......5:00 a.m......we were in room 4221 and the roosters were right outside our window, and between the rooster and the theatre....We had a lot of sleepless nights.....because I am a very light sleeper.

The disco is very, very loud, the music is not suitable for all ages...there is a lot of hard rock and rap crap.....but it is worth your while to drop into the disco about 12:00 a.m. or so...it is a freaky lay out - the tables turns different colors and the big disco balls are fabulous....they even provide dancers on the stage and a large scrren with some music videos. Not too bad, but after an hour or so...that was about all we could handle of the music.

The beach was about a 5 min. walk from our room, but if you stayed in the villa area it would take about 10 - 12 mins...but there was mini golf shuttle going back and forth every 10 - 15 mins..... it took you to the beach....the beach was beautiful, and the beach bar workers are so friendly, we got to know a lot of the staff and they made us feel right at home. Make sure you take lots of one dollar american bills - for tipping. The flea maket is right next door to the beach bar....there are acutally two market...the one on your right (Next to the washrooms) is the best one to go to...they are not so pushy...the other one down the beach are very pushy...but we found that they will give you a better price, if you are not afraid to barter with them. I really like having fun by bartering with them.....

You can use the telpehone on the resort at the call center you can call anywhere for $1.00 a minute or you can use the internet for $3.00 for 30 mins...

Overall this resort is beautiful.....I would certainly go back there again in a heart beat.

Food, Resort, Staff and location was all a PLUS.....we certainly enjoyed our two week stay.

In March/2010 we went on our maiden voyage so to speak. I had never been on an all inclusive vacation and once we decided to go the excitement just keep building daily. There were other people in our party that chose other resorts, but we really was taken with all the pictures and literature of this resort. We were not to be disappointed. From check in to check out, we were amazed at the friendliness of the staff, the nightly entertainment, but most of all, the peace, quiet, and cleanliness of the entire resort. We left with many fond memories, knew alot of the staff by their first names, and a need to return. In March/2011, we went with a group to Cuba, and after 7 days, we have definately made a promise to always put the Dominican Republic at the top of our travel list, and IFA Bavaro will be our choice of resorts!!!!

There was four of us that went together and we all had a great time! The room was clean and modern. i had no problems sleeping and my room was right beside the pool! we only ate at the buffet and the pikalo restaurant and we had no trouble finding something we liked. check in time was not the greatested as a memeber of our party waited 5 oclock for his room and for no apparent reason. I found the resort to be well kept throughout and most of the staff very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: regular rooms closer to beach and pool.

We just returned yesterday and have nothing but good memories! The staff are all great and cheerful overall. The room had wicked a/c and was kept really clean.
We were in the 44 section which is close to the beach and spa. The joining room we had asked for was not organized but our baggage man was totally amazing and took control of the phone with the front desk and made it happen.
The sand was white and the water was warm. What more could you want.
20 minutes from the airport.Exchange your money to U.S small bills for tipping if you want as they have a shortage of dollar bills.
Great place to go!!The food was not like Cuban at all, we all put on 3-5 lbs each..lol

Room Tip: 44 section was close to beach but also theater
