Enjoyed the Transit Rest. Home Run. Cueto served us every day. Made our days wonderful enjoyed location, but most of all the service he gave us. We liked that Transit had its own beach spot and bar, Franklin was wonderful keeping us well taken care of, its a very busy spot to get a chair. Thought the rooms were a little run down, but very clean. The maid went beyond her job everyday to make us feel special.

Room Tip: we didn't spend alot of time in the room, we thought it very clean(the resort was spotless) but...

Our suite was immaculatly kept. The food was excellent. The grounds were lovely.The staff were friendly and helpful. The evenings entertainments were varied and colorful.. The beach is one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. Met people from all over the world who love this resort.
The Manager and his staff work hard at keeping a high standard. My wife and I return year after year and highly recommend it all our firends.

I am Ginette D. and this was my 6 th time @ the Occidental .. I call it home , Just love that place... Everyone is soooooo friendly !!!! Food is EXCELLENT !!! Champaign was good too ;) Thank You VERY MUCH Fabiola, Francisco and Marcos for making our stay with you sooooo Fantastic !!!!!!! Franklin and Williams at bar beach on preference side are both Wonderful :-)) ..... Chanelle, Christian and so many more are all great .... I just got back last week from a wonderful week there with my sister Carole L. and already looking forward to going back and see them all again ..... :-))) I was offered oceanview room so what not to love about it all :-))) Miss you all ........ xoxoox Ginette

Hello there,

We got married last year on October 10th.

We wanted to share our experience with you because we feel that it is not often that couples experience such an amazing time at a resort. We read many reviews before deciding on a destination and we feel that it was a great “eye-opener” and gave us plenty of information to make a very well informed decision.

We booked our wedding at the Occidental Grand Punta Cana resort. We worked with both Aris Castillo and Deyanira Gonzalez.

From the initial call, both Aris and Deyanira took care of our every single need in a very timely and effective manner. We were actually very impressed with their ability to stay in touch with us via e-mail and phone. All of our questions (and we had many) were answered on time, and we were given many options to make our wedding one to remember.

We had around 40 guests at the Occidental Grand Punta Cana resort. I took the time to ask every single guest how their experience was and they were ALL amazed at the service, friendliness from staff, and cleanliness of the rooms, restaurants and activity areas.

Our wedding…it was simply stunning. Aris, Deyanira and their staff took care of our every single need and did not let the most minor detail go unnoticed. The setup, ceremony, dinner setup, decorations, food, and service were all EXCELLENT.

Personally, we have to thank Aris Castillo and Deyanira Gonzalez from the bottom of our hearts for making our dream wedding come true. They truly went out of their way to ensure that every single request we had was met to perfection.

We, as well as our entire family and guests HIGHLY recommend this resort. If you are planning getaway wedding, do not look further, Aris and Deyanira will definitely take care of you. FYI…we are ALL planning to go back for our 1 year anniversary and experience it all over again.

Just returned on March 2nd. It is an older resort with a fantastic beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were kept immaculate. The food at the buffet was great, offering variety and freshness. Our room was in building 11 on the top floor. The room was spacious. Our balcony looked out to the neighboring resort and felt quit private. The bathroom was functional. The air conditioning was a bit noisy. The bed was comfortable. To make the resort spectacular, the restaurant policies and menus need to be reworked. I believe a limited menu, with a complete sit-down 3 or 4 course meal would be successful. If I returned, I would avoid the restaurants, other then the buffet. The variety at the bars is limited. One type of beer, one type of both white/red wine. Only main bar had a top shelf scotch, others had lower shelf whiskey. If rum drinks are you desire, there is no problem. Staff pushes time shares, but that is not uncommon. I avoided our salesperson, who did not like "no". All in all, a good experience for a medium priced all-inclusive. I would be willing to pay a bit more, for more variety in the restaurants and bars.

Room Tip: Mini suite was nice, top floor quiet.

Rooms are moldy and stinky and this resort smells like sewer every where . Food is cold and is nothing special at all . Staff want to sell you on time shares and trips all day and all night long ,pushy . Avoid this place it is not worth a horrible vacation .

We had a good stay at this resort but only because we are easy going, the beach was great even though we only got chairs after 3pm, and the food was delicious at the buffet (a la cartes have the exact same quality of food, but occasionally worse, we tried them all). Staff is super friendly and will joke, the pizzeria was DELICIOUS. The night shows were nothing special except the Michael Jackson tribute was a lot of fun!

Our room was disgusting, the air conditioner was not working properly, it was dripping and so the entrance to our room was just a big puddle, there was mould everywhere and so it also smelled very bad, the breakers in our room would constantly flip when even one light was turned on, one leg of the desk was missing, all the furniture needed replacing, and the a/c never de-humidified the air so the floor stayed wet all the time since it could never dry after the maids mopped it. We complained about the air and they fixed the drip but that was it, we had such a hard time explaining our problem to the front desk staff (they couldn't understand what we meant by AIR CONDITIONER DRIPPING) that we didn't even bother complaining about the breakers, although the maid did for us and they changed it from a 10v to a 16v that still kept flipping.

The constant pressure to buy into the Occidental Vacation club was ridiculous, we even sat down and talked to them for 2 hours and they STILL bugged us after that, the pressure for the day trips never stopped it didn't matter how many times you said no, i can still hear it ringing in my ears, heyyyy canadaaaaa HORSEBACK RIDING, DUNNNEEEEBUGGEESS.....lol. They also have people trying to take pictures with you with animals or in costumes etc. and some of them are extremely forceful, i was grabbed by one of them even after i said no and she pulled me into a picture, i didn't complain because it's just a picture but it's just an example of how these people will not listen to NO, they do not care that you are on holiday, they bug you 24/7 from the beach to the buffet. Two nights a week they let vendors line the walkway to the buffet so the hassling gets worse, it actually happened on three different nights when we were there.

While we were there the power was out on three separate days, one day for approx. 6 hrs; not their fault but probably added to our poor review of the place

I read many reviews on this resort before going and from what i could see the people who enjoyed it are part of the Occidental vacation club, or upgraded to it. I met some couples there who said they had a nice room, but they were in a nicer building (we were in 23 btw) You might have a good time but you might not. I would NEVER recommend this place to any family or friends until they have done some upgrades, this place is going downhill fast (except for the club, they pamper them)

Are you willing to gamble 1500 dollars? if so this is the resort for you

Please accept our apology if sales staff was too insistent with you.
Sometimes it can get increasingly difficult to control everyone but people in the Caribbean are naturally friendly. Of course many of the marketing folks would also like your business, but if you give them a chance, you¹ll see that they are warm and hospitable regardless of what you think their motives may be.
We are so proud of our resorts and our locale that we may be a bit over zealous. If you have the opportunity to tour some time, you¹ll see that we have a lot to offer.
