“add to your must do list”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2011

We met friends that were staying at another hotel in Punta Cana for lunch. It was a $20 cab ride to the destination although no one seemed to be too certain where it is located. The map pin shows it to be mid way on Bavaro Beach it is closer to the east side of the beach. We arrived at what appeared to be an outdoor nightclub. Big couches in the middle of the beach and the entrance ot the cafe was full of very cool seating pods, very retro yet contemporary furnishings. We approached the bar and a gentleman sitting at a table working on his laptop greeted us and we asked if he was open. When we told him that we had a hard time finding him, he laughed and said that he was surprised as the Huracan Cafe is the most popular club on Bavaro Beach. We were a bit skeptical and veyr curious. He asked us if he could get us a drink while we waited for our friends and asked us to go and take in the beach. shortly thereafter his bartender delivered a beer for my husband and the most amazing cocktail for me. It was white rum, freshly pressed limes and sugar and a splash of 7 up. you had me at limes! once our friends arrived we grabbed menus and sat down to order. the owner immediately informed us that the new menus were on their way from Italy and that the menu had changed and that he would prepare us a memorable lunch. And that he did. starting with Buffalo mozzarella on argula and baby tomatoes with fresh basil and olive oil, to the most amazing pesto fusilli to his house specialties. Fresh pastas to order with ingredients flown in from Italy. His Carbonara pasta is on the Michelin foor critics list. and deservedly so. The owner is actually a litagator from Santa Domingo and this Cafe is his hobby. He hosts up to 200 people a night for dinner and his Thursday night parties see a couple thousand people. It was 40 minute walk to our hotel which allowed us to work off the carbs from lunch. If we had experiences Huracan earlier in our trip we woudl have made a point to return a few times, it was that good!

“Best pasta of the caribbean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2010

If you're looking for an escape from the all-inclusive resorts and looking for genuine good food, then this is a good bet. The place has a trendy interior the lounge beds are excellent and the atmosphere and music very relaxed. The service is great, the staff and owner were very friendly and helpful. The thing I would go back for is the food, the pastas and salads are brilliant. We decided to go back there each day instead of having the all-inclusive food.
