“5th and 6th Trips Completed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

Just returned from my 5th(May 1-8) and 6th(Jun 8-15) trips to the #1 resort in Punta Cana...IBEROSTAR GRAND BAVARO.
Once again this resort never stops amazing me !! From the quality of food, the excellent drinks, the beautiful grounds, and the perfect location. This place is first class all the way...but the best feature of all at this resort are the wonderful people that work there !!!
Let's start with the front desk, special thanks to FEDDY MARTE for his assitance with my room request, also thanks to all, at the front desk for their efforts.
As mentioned before this resort has incredible food...ALTAGRACIA is the amazing lady who heads up a group of remarkable people who make every meal out of this world.
Also thanks to all of the bar staff, who make all the drinks oh so good !!
From the moment you check-in, to the second you check-out, every person that works there are dedicated to making your stay amazing.
Now for a group of people known as "STAR FRIENDS" where do I start ?? Everyday there is a treat, but these people take it to a new level !!! A day at the beach or pool, with all of the Star Friends is beyond words. Thanks so much to MY FRIENDS...MARGARITA, MARIA, YOCAYRA, ROQUELINA, YOSCAIRY, ISABEL, BOOM BOOM, RICARDO, TOMMY, ARMONDO, SANDER, hope I didn't miss anyone. From your friend in Canada - RON !!
I will see everybody soon...7th trip is just around the corner...but not soon enough !!

I have been to many resorts in various parts Mexico, Honduras, and a few islands but this blew them all out of the water. I was amazed by the staff they were so friendly and helpful. They all knew our names and would talk to us throughout the day. The resort not only had a great pool but had the clearest beach I have seen. My husband and I walked for 4 miles everyday up and down the beach and it never got old. The food here was excellent. Unlike most all inclusives that only have buffets, Iberostar had 4 restaurants on site that were like going out to a 5 star place. We loved it and will be going back next year!!!

This was our second visit to Dominican. This resort was highly recommended, and by reviews on Trip advisor.
We went in Feb 2014. The resort and beach was nice. The service sucks.

We will start with the room, when booking 5 months ahead of trip, we asked for a beach view, we were put in a room furthest away from the beach, - Jacuzzi tub wasn't working, we told them 3 times, and it took them 3 days to get it fixed.
We had the butler service, but he was never around or to be found when we wanted anything.
One night we ordered a couple drinks with room service. After waiting an hour I called back, and they had excuse that a computer error would not let them send it to the room.

The food - if you are into seafood, there was tons of it. don't know if it was good or hot. (we are not seafood eaters)
For us we were sticking to the beef and chicken. When we ordered the main dish from the grilling station, the beef was hot, (not cooked well at all) but the side dishes were all cold even right off the warming trays.
Food from the warming station trays were always cold.
When it comes to drinks stick with the Presidente beer. A couple times we ordered pineapple daiquiri, most times they were too strong, twice I was served a red drink, when asked if pineapple daiquiri, the response was yea strawberry pineapple daiquiri.

While there we had a couples massage, which is billed to the room.
While checking out desk clerk attempted to bill us extra fees billed to the room. When I asked to see what was billed to the room, he could only produce the one receipt for the massage. We paid for it and checked out.

As about to leave the manager came and was very interested to confirm that we only paid for the massage to check out. (He made a comment that the second bill on room was during time when we were not there - hotel not open).
Not sure if they have problem with extra fees on room, or possible scams by staff.

Room Tip: Not worth it!!

My husband and I had a wonderful 12 night honeymoon at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro. We enjoyed the beach, pool, and the many amenities on the property. We tried all the restaurants several times and watched several shows and participated in several of the activities. Because of this we can say with certainty that this really is an excellent hotel. Any time the service or something was not truly great, one comment to any of the many employees attending and it would be resolved.
The food is not epicurean but definitely delicious, well prepared, and varied. We especially enjoyed the Japanese and Grill restaurants.
Special thanks to those truly outstanding employees: Felina, Juan Carlos, Belony, Margarita, Poche, Lorraine, Rosina,

Room Tip: We had a room facing to the side of the hotel. We found that this was quiet and more private. Howeve...

I really can't image a better resort in the Dominican Republic better than the Iberostar Grand Bavaro Hotel. The lobby, rooms, pool area, and grounds are pristine and high-end. The service was stellar and the food was excellent. I certainly will book again when I return to Punta Cana.

How do you rate perfection? Carlos, our butler was the best. He made sure our needs were met every day and any request was honored within minutes. Fellina from food and beverage attended to our every desire, even took the time to help my Mom with her hurt foot. She ultimately made our dining experience that much better. Poolside we were blessed having Rossy as our server. We were never thirsty may I add! For our entertainment each day, we had Ricardo, Yocaira, and Armando. Inspiring, instructing, and making us feel ever so special and like family. All the staff and were far beyond our expectations. The most difficult thing to do was to hop on that bus for the airport. We could not be happier with our choice and we will DEFINATELY be back with more of our family!

Hola! Switched to Iberostar Grand Bavaro from Excellence Playa Mujeres in Cancun due to the iffy forecast there! All this really meant is that we didn’t really know what to expect before arrival as we had done know research...

First impressions:
Beautiful! The hotel does show it's age a bit and the check in process was painfully slow but the feel is very tropical and upscale and the service was some of the best we have ever encountered.

After one quick visit from our butler Henry/Victor, all of our requests and preference were taken care of! This included but was limited to: mini bar stocking, wine and champagne in room, dinner reservations and having our balcony light disabled. (We hate sitting out at night on balconies that are automatically lit...)

Misses: service at the Italian while delicious was too rushed for our tastes and one afternoon we came back to our room for a 'siesta' put the do not disturb sign out but the door was knocked on twice...didn't like that. Japanese restaurant was a miss for us - food pretty much tasted the same and the show was unspectacular...

The SurfnTurf restaurant service was luxurious and we'll-paced

Food and service at the gourmet and Casa de playa were very good. Casa de Playa was very quiet and virtually empty - good sound track tho! Casa de playa is a ‘secret’ restaurant belonging to the condos next door...be sure to ask for it – it’s included!

Room service was been spot on every morning and right on time!

Our room seemed to have something a little special every day and turn down service was wonderful every night!

We tipped the butlers $20 a day total. It was worth it to us as we received a chilled bottle of champagne and wine every day, our room was made up immediately upon us leaving and we had a romantic bath 3 of our 6 nights...

We were unsure about the whole butler thing (it's not really our style) but they were very unobtrusive and yet always there if you needed anything...very impressive

My husband loved LOVED loved being able to choose his steak everyday at the lunch buffet!

The food at Iberostar Grand is of very good quality and taste. However, when my husband and I discussed our favourite meals/restaurants we could not decide....now this was interesting, because we have never been to a resort where we did not actually love something so much we were dying to go back - for example: at Luxury Bahia Sian Kaan we thought the goose liver pate and the green curry were so good, we went back for more! and at Excellence Playa Mujeres, we ate at the Indian restaurant 3 times, we thought it was so good! and at majestic Elegance, we thought their beef carpaccio with egg was delicious too!

In summary, at Iberostar Grand Bavaro the beach is perfect but the resort is a little on the quiet side for us...for us, it would be perfect for a 4 night getaway, but for a longer stay we like a little more activity without having to transfer over to another resort...we thought a great addition would be some contemporary live music each evening near the lobby/boat...

The food was great, but there were no stand outs for us which we found a little disappointing.

The beach is excellent and there are TONS of palapas and beach beds so shade was never a problem.

The butlers were excellent and truly enhanced our trip - in fact, without them, it would have been just another really nice resort.

Shout out to Mystrique/Malaryx (sp?) who was the best pool server we have ever encountered anywhere.

Met some great people and had some great fun...we may go back...but we’re just not sure...
