Just returned from a 10-day stay at this paradise resort from 8/8-8/17. I'll summarize for you the good and the bad:
Grounds- Extraordinary clean and beautiful- the landscape crew is always busy and do a superb job. Not one piece of dirt or trash seems to be anywhere in sight. No bugs either!
Rooms- Well maintained, immaculately clean, most comfortable beds and pillows, excellent A/C, marble bathrooms with huge shower with wonderfully good water pressure rainforest head. We had two top-floor, perfect ocean view rooms that were superb- 7316 and 7318.
Food- we found all the food excellent from the buffets to the specialty restaurants. My family of four ( two adult daughters in their early 20's and my husband and me) favored the filet mignon at the Surf and Turf and the lobster thermidor at the Gourmet.
Pool and Beach-both beautiful. We went at the perfect time of the summer as we were able to easily get two pool beds as well as two lounges near the pool and two lounges in the water at the pool. Not crowded at all. The beach had plenty of empty palapas ( shaded thatched huts over lounge chairs). There were shaded areas all day long which meant no need to run down and secure seats with towels, books, or suntan lotion at 7 in the morning. A nice difference from other Caribbean resorts that we have visited.
Entertainment- good nightly shows at 10- the Star Friends put on great shows!
Staff- okay, I could probably write a book about the staff. They are , by far, the nicest, most happy people I have ever encountered from the management to the reception folks to the crew that keeps the grounds spotless and they are like that among themselves, not only to guests. They work hard and are so appreciative of a kind word, a smiling hello, and of course, a gratuity. We were more than happy to tip the staff here as they never seemed to expect it nor to treat non-tipping guests ( and we noticed quite a few) any differently than the big tippers.
Special recognition for: management staff- Melissa and Candy, dining room staff- Viglio, Ramon and Keyla; pool concierge- Jhoenmy and pool server, Leticia: Butlers- Lagua, Jose, and Jason and of course entertainer extraordinaire- Boom-Boom ( in the house) who danced me to near exhaustion on Chill -out night at the ship!!! :) The reception staff were all great also!
Now for The BAD- You have to leave this paradise and return to reality! That's the only bad I can say about this resort!
AIRPORT- Tip regarding the airport- dress in cool clothes as the airport lacks A/C and we had to de-plane and wait on the hot tarmac before walking to the arrival section and then standing in a long customs line inside in the heat. Buy the $10 entrance fee online and cut down some on the line through customs.
Questions welcomed and I have tons of photos that I will gladly share with anyone interested.
