“Average Thai food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

I still wonder why I chose to eat Thai food in this place because the 3 previous reviewers were very complimentary towards the Indian food served at Malati. I hesitated and should probably have had a better experience choosing to follow recommendations.

I also thought that being in Thailand in a 5 star property it wasn't too risky to order a pomelo and shrimp salad and a Massaman Curry. Well, I was wrong. The service was average and got significantly better when asking for the bill. In fact, mentioning that I am a SPG member probably gave a strong incentive to the staff members to be more attentive. It was too late then.

Back to the food. When presented the Pomelo and shrimp salad I understood it was a mistake. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with the taste or the presentation. It was rather nice but what a shock when I discovered that they had the audacity to serve one single shrimp in the plate. One shrimp!!! Come on guys, I understand you need to work on your food cost but one shrimp is really pushing it.

I said nothing to the waitress of the moment (by the end of the starter I had 4 different people serving me) and waited for the main course that was served a few minutes later. The curry was just above average for a "Must Try" dish as it shows on their menu. The beef was tuff and the curry rather bland. The "jasmine" rice is just steamed white rice; no trace of Jasmine at all.

The best dish was the stir-fried morning glory.

My dinner was average. I expected more.

Please do not serve one shrimp only, it is ridiculous.

Dear “FraHK”,

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your dining experience at Malati restaurant. The service is something that we are working on and currently have a training come down from Bangkok to assist us in training the staff. Overall this is not the standard that we are aiming for. We appreciate your candor and this will only help us to improve.

Warm Regards,

“outstanding and affordable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

First, it's a indian and thai restaurant located in the heart of the Sheraton Krabi Resort. From outside, it is impossible to locate the restaurant, so don't hesitate to show up at the front desk and ask for a ride in one of the numerous electric cart.
The Malati restaurant is located in a modern / design pavillion, quite sumptuous by night.
Like everywhere in the Sheraton, the staff is very nice and helpful. The service is great, fast and caring.
I had some very good thai food there and my partner tried several time the indian food. Both are absolutely great, very tasty and well presented.
It's of course more expensive than in any other restaurant outside of the resort, but honestly, it's quite affordable if you compare to same quality restaurant in Bangkok, Paris or London...

Dear “paris-eric”,

Thank you for your great review of the Malati restaurant. As you have pointed out, the restaurant is located in the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort and it would probably be best to ask the front desk to arrange a buggy to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is very close to the sea and actually has a great view of the sunset. Thank you for your comments about the staff, it’s always good to read that we are able to take care of our guests. The culinary team were very appreciative of your comments about both the Thai Royal Cuisine and the Indian food.

We hope that you will come back to the Malati restaurant soon.

Warm Regards,

“Best Indian food in Krabi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

This restaurant serves best indian food in krabi. As the restaurant is part of a five star property, you can well imagine the quality of service and ambience.
And prices are cheaper in comparison to other indian restaurant in krabi.
But be careful is you are vegetarian as i was mistakenly served chicken biryani instead of vegetarian. And this care you have to provide in foreign if you are a vegetarian.

Only problem is that its far from the main beach (Ao nang). So you need to have your own transport or a hired which will bring you back.
I am not sure if the hotel can arrange transport back so please check before you go for late dinner.

Dear “Santosh M”,

Thank you for calling the Malati restaurant the “Best Indian food in Krabi”! This is great to read and made our Malati culinary team very proud. The restaurant is located in the Sheraton Krabi which is approx. a 15 minute ride from Ao Nang. The hotel does have a shuttle service that costs 200 baht one way per person and picks guests up in front of the Krabi Resort hotel with times at 3pm, 6:30pm, 8pm and 10 pm.

“Indian Food at its best in Krabi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

If you are in Krabi and looking for amazing Indian food, this is the place you should be heading. It made our stay at Sheraton a memorable experience.

Their menu has a good mix of vegetarian and non-veg choices. Taste is as good to the authentic that it can be hundreds of mile away from home. Staff is friendly, attentive and very helpful.

We tried Paneer Lawabdar, Chana Masala, Butter Naan, Stuffed Kulcha, Aloo Chana Chat and what not! Not disappointed in even one dish.

Go for it if you are missing Indian food during your krabi vacation.
