I still wonder why I chose to eat Thai food in this place because the 3 previous reviewers were very complimentary towards the Indian food served at Malati. I hesitated and should probably have had a better experience choosing to follow recommendations.
I also thought that being in Thailand in a 5 star property it wasn't too risky to order a pomelo and shrimp salad and a Massaman Curry. Well, I was wrong. The service was average and got significantly better when asking for the bill. In fact, mentioning that I am a SPG member probably gave a strong incentive to the staff members to be more attentive. It was too late then.
Back to the food. When presented the Pomelo and shrimp salad I understood it was a mistake. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with the taste or the presentation. It was rather nice but what a shock when I discovered that they had the audacity to serve one single shrimp in the plate. One shrimp!!! Come on guys, I understand you need to work on your food cost but one shrimp is really pushing it.
I said nothing to the waitress of the moment (by the end of the starter I had 4 different people serving me) and waited for the main course that was served a few minutes later. The curry was just above average for a "Must Try" dish as it shows on their menu. The beef was tuff and the curry rather bland. The "jasmine" rice is just steamed white rice; no trace of Jasmine at all.
The best dish was the stir-fried morning glory.
My dinner was average. I expected more.
Please do not serve one shrimp only, it is ridiculous.
