“Highly Recommended. I would most definitely return.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2010

We had an amazing experience staying at the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort. The pool was fantastic and lots of fun, there weren't too many kids around when we were there which was a bonus. I only booked the last three nights of our holiday because I thought Krabi would be a little boring, but in fact I wish I had spent more time there, than we did in Phuket.
Seeing the elephant 'Ra Ra' each day was a treat and we took advantage of hiring their bikes and taking a ride through the village in Krabi.
The only downside is there's not a lot of choice when it comes to finding a nice restaurant nearby, and as is expected in any hotel, the in house restaurants were a little pricey. Although they do offer a shuttle service, which I probably just didn't take advantage of.
Other than that I would HIGHLY recommend staying at the Sheraton, it was the perfect way to wind down after the insanity that is Phuket.

We stayed 10 nights here in March and really enjoyed our visit. Service in all respects was good, and despite the size of the hotel, you could always get away and find some quiet and isolation around the two great pools and the very extensive gardens. To be honest, I've never seen so many sunbeds, so getting one was never a problem (although this still didn't stop some people getting up at the crack of dawn to reserve them!).

Facilities across the hotel were what you'd expect. Good to see the free internet facilities. The pools were great although the rooms were a bit tired. There's a good choice of restauarants. The beach whilst long and open, is very rocky, so not the best for walking or swimming.

The hotel is quite isolated, although this is a good point. There are plenty of local restaurants close by, and if you really do feel the urge to go to Ao Nang, it's only a short drive away.

We ate in many local restaurants. The Ruean Siam (turn right down the beach) is great for lunch although we never went there on an evening. On the main road we particularly enjoyed the Terrace which is immediately opposite the hotel.

A special mention of the Expressions Coffee bar. Turn right out of the hotel and it's in the little plaza just down the road on the right. Run by an English girl who as well as making the best cocktails in town, is also a source of excellent local advice. She recommended us to the Kor Bua restaurant. This is about a 5 minute drive, but they will come and pick you up and drop you off for free. The food and location are amazing. Try the Tod Mon Pla (Thai fish cakes) and what was the best Tom Yum soup we had on our whole holiday. Price wise it's a fraction of the hotel menus.

We did take one trip to Hong Island and some other local islands. Again on the recommendation as above, we rented a whole boat rather than a cramped trip with about 10 others. We were able to order our meal the day before and this was served up on the beach. Absolutely perfect. Thanks to Son and Lawrence who looked after us very well on the day.

Overall this place is highly recommended. It really is great value for money and just feels very comfortable. It's not a flashy 5 star place, but that's the attraction.

We stayed here at the end of our holiday as we had previously been to Koh SAmui, chiang mai and bankok and must say this was a really lovely resort. We were supprised that it was so big. All the rooms are set back so you can not really see the sea clearly but in all honesty we hardley saw our room anyway as we were out all the time. Location wise is not great, you can get a mini bus (at a cost) and about half an hour into ao nang which is a little town on the sea front with great restuarants and shops and dont be afraid of partering this is great but once you been twice thats enough. The other place they are able to take you is Krabi town but please please please dobt waste your time going it was awful!!!!!! we ended up getting a local bus to take us back to ao nang.
The hotel itself is really lovely there are 2 pools but the main one has sun beds all around so there is never any problems getting one. The grounds are stunning and very well looked after just watch out for the giant lizard. The beach is lovely quiet and stunning at sunset but just be aware there is a reason its called krabi and i found myself screeming most of the walk along the beach. We did a day trip to phi phi islands which i would highly recommend and then on our last day we hired one of the long boat men off the beach and he took us on our own around hong island and again all i can say is wow.
the rooms are large and spacious, the food at breakfast was very nice and i am a fussy eater. we didnt eat dinner ther as its so expensive but we found a little restuarant just next door to the hotel on the beach we had a 3 course meal for £6 WICKED.
Lastly we went scuba diving with the inhouse dive shop and have to say was probably to worst dive of our whole holiday..we have done our padi but only completed at the beginning of our holiday so still complete novices and the dive guide we was just not that good, i didnt really feel that safe with him compared to other dive guides we had. But all in all an amazing hotel and would certainly recommend.

Hope this helps

enjoy

Thank you very much for your review. We are sorry to hear about your dissappointment with our in house dive center. We very rarely get complaints. We would very much like to hear any more detailed comments, so that we can pass them onto on Dive Center: sheraton.Krabi@Sheraton.com
Thank you.

After a long drive from Phuket, we finally arrived at the Sheraton. I have to say the lobby seemed a little plain for a Sheraton resort but check in was quick and smooth.
Our room gave a nice view of the gardens, pool and beach... the surrounds really are beautiful and well maintained.
The pools are amazing and there are plenty of sun lounges around.
The room itself was nice, bathroom spacious and a nice balcony (though you cant really sit on the chairs too long!) Loved the little touches of the ice is in the ice bucket every day, the turn down service and a pretty orchid on my pillow every evening.
The resort provides free internet, which i thought was a nice perk but didnt have dvd players in the rooms and wanted 500 baht or so a night to hire one... Maybe they could improve on that and either make it cheaper or include them in the rooms...
We didnt eat at the hotel, only had the occasional lunch by the pool and room service so cannot comment on breakfast or any of the restuarants.
The restuarant across the road from the hotel The Terrace was average, service was slow but food was ok. When you walk out of the hotel, turn right and walk about 50 metres, there are some restaurants there and we ate at Jumpa (i think thats what it was called) a few times and the food was beautiful as well as super cheap. Lovely service also :-)
Overall, the resort is beautiful and the staff really do try to assist you any way they can and we would stay here again when in Krabi.

We stayed here a few days after staying at the Sofitel Krabi (would have booked the Sofitel again but it was full).

The property felt dated to me - the design as well as wear and tear on public areas. I had the impression that constrcution quality/materials should have been better.

Free wifi in the lobby area and free computers/internet at the business center!

The resort is large and very spread out. That might be an issue for you. They use golf carts to shuttle people around like disney world.

Rooms were dark and felt on the small side. No shower stalls, except in club rooms. Access to the rooms wasn't very nice - exterior concrete corridors.

Breakfast buffet was a disappointment. Nothing special at all - could have been at a breakfast buffet in middle America. Mangos, mangostein, rambutan, dragon fruit were all in season and local and none were at the buffet. Our room had a fruit plate with fuji apples imported from China. Why not used local fruits? When staying at the sofitel krabi I looked forward to the fresh fruits, juice and quality cheese and deli meats at the breakfast buffet, and I'm not a big breakfast person. Not so at the Sheraton. If you are looking for a couple of eggs and bacon, you'll be happy.

Hotel staff was good.

The hotel shuttle to the airport costs more than a private taxi, which you should be able to get for 600 baht.

Beach is very nice. The only thing is a lagoon drains from the hotel to the beach. When the tide is going out this can cloud up the water. When the tide is in, it's very clear.

The large lawn area between the pool and beach is nice. Hammocks near the beach are great.

Good water sports center, although you can go snorkeling cheaper by arranging something yourself with one of the longboats on the beach.

The pool area is nice and the pools are good sized. The infrastructure around the pool is definitely showing wear.

In summary, although it's an OK place, I never felt like I was staying at a five star property. Not due to service/staff, but the sheer resort size, breakfast quality, and infrastructure quality.

We are very sorry to hear about your disappointment, and appreciate your feedback.

It is true that we have a large area for our guests to relax, this is actually one of the reasons why a lot of our returning guests come back. Even during high occupancy, there is always a quiet place to be found amongst our gardens, or where guests can enjoy the direct access to the beach, to take a stroll.

Our breakfast buffet has a large variety of different food (Asian, and Western), we do find your comments a little unfair. Concerning the fruit, we will be adjusting our fruit selection effective May 2010, and take that as a very valid point.

Thank you again for taking the time to write your review, we shall pass these onto our whole team here.

This is my first trip advisor review however we chose to stay at the Sheraton Krabi after reading reviews on trip advisor so I felt it necessary to post a review.

The Sheraton Krabi... what can I say - it was perfect for the beginning of our holiday in Thailand (Krabi - Phi Phi - Phuket). After a long trip to Phuket it was so nice to see our driver waiting at the airport ready to drive us to the Sheraton. I was nervous that we would arrive and noone would be there to pick us up but i was proved wrong. I organised this a few days before by just emailing the hotel.

The hotel grounds are amazing and so well kept... it is seriously picturesque!! The staff was so lovely when we arrived and throughout our stay - they went out of there way to accomodate our needs.

Rooms - we had a standard room with a king size bed. The room wasn't anything amazing and no real view but it was very comfortable and was fine for what we wanted. The only thing that would be good is a dvd player in each room - we didn't have one in ours and it would have been nice on one of the nights.

Pool - amazing!! pool service was good and there were enough chairs around both pools to ensure that all guests could sit down and there wasn't a feeling that it was too crowded at any stage.

Beach - dont go here hoping for an amazing beach... you'll see that when you go to Phi phi and do an island tour. The beach is fine and good to swim at but it wasn't really a highlight of the hotel.

Food - a wide range of choice at the hotel. The prices are averagly priced. The breakfast is possibly one of the best i've had at a large hotel like this. The food was fresh and there was a huge variety. There was a chef everymorning cooking fresh waffles, pancakes, waffles, and eggs.

Activities - we did a 4 island tour that picked us up from the hotel and dropped us back. I would recommend just doing a 1 day tour around phi phi.

Location - there isn't really much around but there is a shuttle bus that goes into town and back a few times a day. Whilst the timings didn't alwasy suit we found that we were ready to come bakc on the last bus after a long day. Note: we went into Krabi town one evening and we probably wouldn't recommend that - there really isn't much to do, unless we seriously missed it!

The staff at the hotel were all so helpful and really made our trip. Also there is free internet!

We will definitely be recommending this hotel to anyone that goes near Krabi and we will definitely stay there again if we go back. I must say however we got a good online deal at hotelclub.com - i was very sceptical but it actually all worked out really well.

If you are deciding on hotels in Krabi and want somewhere that is beautiful and relaxing then this is the place to go - its not super close to nightlife but you could get a tuk tuk from town (but sort out the price at the beginning).

My fiancé and I spent six days here after a week of travelling islands of the Trang area. After all our adventures on the smaller (non-touristy) islands, we were happy with the Sheraton being a large resort with a few people around.

The rooms and the views have been covered in the other reviews, so I will skip that part in mine. We were happy with ours.

The beach:
We’re not pool people and chose this resort because it had direct access to a nice beach. After enjoying the most beautiful, pristine, bounty beaches on the small islands for a week our standards were high. We liked the beach at the Sheraton, even though it’s not ideal for swimming at all times during the day. We loved all the sunbeds in the shade of the trees in the garden, as well as the double sunbeds facing the sea.
High tide eats up most of the beach in the mornings. Low tide exposes rocks and seabed in the afternoons (perfect for seashell hunting though, not perfect for swimming). The rocks were easy to avoid when swimming (just enter the sea where the “canal” leading into the resort is). The smaller rocks on the beach were cleaned up and removed by Sheraton staff every afternoon (we were quite impressed by that). We preferred swimming in the mornings at high tide, as the water was somewhat murky at low tide. One important point is to avoid the rocks at low tide (and make sure your kids do as well!), as there were reports of small stingrays hiding between the rocks in low tide and they can inflict serious injuries when stepped upon.

Breakfast:
We woke up early every morning and went to breakfast at 6:30ish (I know… insane, but we fell asleep early most nights). At this early hour it was wonderfully quiet in the restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive. We especially liked the staff attending the outside tables. After the first day they remembered our coffee preferences and where we liked to sit. Personal service at its best! I love coffee, but usually avoid it in Thailand, because most often it’s no good. I needn’t worry at the Sheraton where we could get excellent cappuccinos at no extra cost and that they kept offering us one more as soon as our cups were empty.
One morning we played tennis and came to breakfast late (8:30). It was a completely different experience! It was very busy and many of the food stations were empty, so we had to ask for everything. Staff seemed to have a hard time keeping all the stations fully stocked. So come early.

Restaurants:
The restaurants at the resort may be pricey for Thai standards, but in our experience The Malati was worth every penny. We had our best Indian meal ever, excellent service and decent mojitos the first night there. We felt like going back every night simply because it was outstanding! We should have gone back every night, but ventured out of the resort and only came back once where it was equally great (service was even better the second time, as the staff remembered us and gave us a warm welcome).

We weren’t impressed with the restaurants mentioned by other TA reviewers. That is the place on the beach was good for lunch and prices were reasonable (except the seafood which was surprisingly expensive). The Terrace across the street was pretty average and not exactly cheap. Service was spotty and the fish didn’t taste fresh. There was another Thai place called something with Terrace in the cluster of restaurants down the road from the resort. It was pretty good and inexpensive.

Tip: If you play tennis, but didn't bring your gear, you can rent a racket and tennis shoes, so no excuses :)

Only two negatives:
1) Ant problem at the breakfast buffet: One morning, I noticed quite a few ants on one of the cake platters at the buffet and informed the staff. I was hoping they would remove the platter entirely, but instead they removed one or two cakes and smiled apologetically. Obviously that didn't fix the problem and there were plenty of ants feasting on the same cakes every morning, which put me off the cakes for the rest of my stay.

2) The spa prices are outrages! The price list is nowhere to be found in the room and I can see why. They must be ashamed of the prices. 130 euros for a facial! That’s more expensive than Copenhagen!
