“Great Stay - Excellent Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

We stayed here for 8nights in July and had a relaxing stay overall. The beach is superb with beautiful views and great facilities. The rooms are standard for any big US chain in blocks three levels high. We tried all the restaurants and whilst Malati was excellent, Geckos was terrible and needs improvement on their food. Once we got bored of eating at the hotel we took a 10min walk down the beach to Nakamanda, a 5 star property, which has a very reasonably priced restaurant on the beach with great food and amazing views.

It was low season but the weather was fantastic and I would say it was probably the best time to visit as you can take advantage of low rates and avoid the extreme heat. The staff were fantastic and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

On the negative side, I would say that their restaurants are a bit overpriced and whilst they offer a differing level of dining discount to different guests it would be better if they just reduced prices in line with other hotels in the area. Apart from that, this really is the best place to stay in Krabi!

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms offer better views but are obstructed by trees

Dear “Narsimh S”,

We are all very happy to read your thoughts about the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort. The resorts tallest buildings are 3 stories and try to blend in with the surroundings. We are happy to read your comments about the food at Malati and we are currently working on changing the menu at Gecko’s restaurant. We do competitive shopping of the restaurants and the resorts prices are inline, however we will go again to have a look at the restaurant you mentioned.

The weather in July is mostly wet so we are glad that you were here when there wasn’t too much rain. Your comments about the staff are great to read, it’s great that they were going out of their way to assist you.

Thank you for saying that the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort “is the best place to stay in Krabi”. We hope to see you again in the future.

Warm Regards,

Paul Tsuji

Stayed two nights during a weekend getaway. The resort is large and features a large beach, which unfortunately is not good for swimming as there are many rocks and pieces of coral just into the water. Best to wear sandals or water shoes to avoid getting cut on the coral if attempting to swim. Food was above average but nothing to write home about. A great alternative to the overpriced food at the resort is the Thai restaurant directly across the street, which serves great Thai food and sees a fair number of people from the resort. Transfer to/from the hotel to the airport is about 40 minutes and the going rate for a transfer is about 600-700 baht. This resort would be good for a large group of people, family or company event but not ideal for a couple or small group looking for a tasteful getaway. A tip for breakfast - if one is not keen on eating the all-you-can-eat buffet, it is possible to order off the a la carte breakfast menu which is more than sufficient for breakfast.

Room Tip: Resort is expansive so room closer to main reception is good if you do not want to walk too far

Dear “CJLOMAS”,

Thank you for your comments about the resort, looking at your ratings of the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort, we are sorry that you did not manage to get a good price while staying with us. The resort does offer quite reasonable prices during the quieter months of the year.

The Andaman sea does have a lot of coral and around the beach does have some rocks, this also depends on the tides. We are sorry if you were mislead in anyway about the beach and the water. We continue to work on the quality of the food and now have a new executive chef, who has already started to make some good positive changes.

It does take around 40 minutes from the airport to the resort. The resort is located on the coastline of the Andaman sea, away from the hustle of bustle of the more touristy area of Ao Nang. We do get groups that stay at the resort and hope that none of these groups affected your stay with us.

We are sorry that you didn’t fully enjoy your stay and hope that we will have an opportunity in the future to make it up to you.

Warm Regard,

Paul Tsuji

Date of visit : 12-15 July 2014
We were greeted by friendly staffs when we stepped into the resort. Surya, who is a very helpful intern staff ushered us into a club house to wait for the check in to be proceesed. Lemon grass water and cold towels were served. The check in process took about 15 mins, Surya accompanied us to our room (deluxe club Block H) by buggy. He showed us the surroundings and explained all our doubts. Thumbs up to him.
The room is clean, partial sea view but the sea is far from the building. For the room facilities, there are some room for improvement. The location of the power points in the room are awkward and toilet lighting switch is a bit far from the toilet door. The only thing that annoys me the most is the aircon, it is noisy especially at night.
The resort is surrounded by greens and equipped the necessary facilities and services. They provide shuttle bus (with charges) and local tours too.
Breakfast is pretty standard, not much of variety. We are glad that we booked a deluxe club room. We can access the club house, they provide all day snacks, drinks and alcoholic beverages from 5-7pm.
There are some restaurants, shops, taxi stand and even 7-11 outside the resort.
Overall, this is a relaxing resort and it's a good choice if you wish to laze around and enjoy a quiet holiday.

Dear “Piggyswan”,

We are very happy that you could have a relaxing time while staying with us at the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort. It’s fantastic to read your comments about the service in the resort and that your enjoyed the lemongrass drink and cold towel.

The rooms are set back from the Andaman sea and there is an expansive garden and pools in between. Your comments about the power points are noted and we will be looking at fixing this in the future. The toilet light switch is something unfortunately that we will not be able to change. We are sorry to read you had issues with your air conditioning unit, if you could send me an e-mail paul.tsuji@sheraton.com with the room number, I will have our engineering team fix this.

We are working on the breakfast menu rotations and will implement the changes after the renovations of Mangosteen scheduled to be done this year, however we are glad that you liked the Sheraton Club facilities.

It’s good that you managed to relax and unwind at the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort and hope to see you again in the future.

Warm Regards,

Paul Tsuji

We stayed here for 5 days recently & being SPG Platinum member we enjoyed extra benefits at the resort. Firstly, we were upgraded to sea facing room. Secondly, Internet & breakfasts were free & we got to use the club lounge. It's low season in Krabi at the moment due to the monsoon & please check the weather forecast before you plan your trip. So far we only had couple of light shower that's all.

The room was spacious & clean. Comfortable. To support their green effort, we decided not to have cleaning service during the whole stay & we received 150baht discount per day. Why not if you are barely in the room. We spent pretty much the whole day outside or at the pool. Staffs were friendly & helpful. Breakfasts were good & decent. They were about the same every morning but we've got what we needed, the basic breakfast & that was enough. We enjoyed the tenderloin steak at Mangosteen for dinner. It was delicious. We did try the Thai restaurant opposite but we didn't enjoy it like other guests. Yes the foods were cheaper but they were quite tasteless. The pools were gorgeous & plenty things to do at the resort for any ages. We enjoyed the 24 hours gym. Due to the monsoon, there are jelly fish so please be careful when you dip in the sea.

We went to Ao Nang, a small town nearby, by taxi for 700 baht which was booked from the tour desk. Yes it's more expensive to book from the hotel & advisable to get hotel shuttle bus for 250 bath per person /return trip. It's cheaper to get taxi from outside which cost 400 baht. To the airport is 700 baht via outside taxi. Hotel taxi is 1200 baht. What we did was we took the taxi driver's number who drove us from the airport.

We also went to Railay beach. We didn't book through hotel but we took taxi to Ao Nang Mao jetty & took long tail boat for 85baht only. The journey to Railay was 15 mins. There were plenty of life vest in the boat. It's better to go from Ao Nang Mao instead of Ao Nang because the sea is a lot calmer than Ao Nang. Coming back to Ao Nang Mao was easy. You can find boat easily from Railay. We borrowed couple of towels from the hotel tour desk which was nice. We went for massage opposite the hotel. 400 baht for 1 hour aroma full body massage, 200 baht for 1 hour reflexology. Not bad.

We enjoyed our stay here. Definitely will be back when the monsoon is over. Recommended!

Dear “cahayapagi”,

Thank you for being a loyal Starwood Preferred Guest, as a Platinum member there are additional perks to being a platinum member such as the club lounge access, complimentary wifi, breakfast and upgraded room. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us at the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort. The weather is quite unpredictable and if booking in advance tough to truly know when it will rain. For chances of good weather, best to stay during the Thai Winter.

The majority of the guests are like yourselves and spend the majority of the time on tour, at the beach, on the lawn or at the pool and do not spend a lot of time in the guest rooms during the day. We are all very happy to read your thoughts about the staff being friendly and helpful. The 2 infinity pools in the resort are located close by the beach and have a good view of the Andaman sea. As you have pointed out, due to the weather there are a couple of jellyfish however our recreation team are first aid trained and we have a nurse on duty during the day. Good for you for using the Sheraton fitness centre, the Thai boxing classes are fun to do.

The resort does have a 3rd party shuttle service that costs 250 baht return per person, this is the most economical way to get into Ao Nang and I personally use this option. In Southern Thailand there is no such thing as a metered taxi. The resort does offer transfers for guests and this can make things a little smoother than having to haggle with some of the outside cars.

The culinary team thank you for your comments about the food in the resort. It’s great to read that you enjoyed the steak at Mangosteen for dinner and thought that the breakfast was good and decent. We will be reviewing the rotation of food after the renovation of Mangosteen.

We hope that you will come back and stay with us again in the near future.

Warm Regards,

Paul Tsuji

We stayed here for 3 days. The resort is very big, but the garden was just usual. They can actually make the garden more interesting. Sheraton had 2 swimming pool but in the afternoon it can be very hot to swim in as they so not have any big tree near the swimming pool. What i like the most is the view from the swiming pool looking at the ocean. It is so beautiful. The room itseft is alright with quite a lot of space . Overall it is a good stay and relaxing stay.

Dear “Augustin S”,

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us at the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort, the resort is built on 39.5 acres of land and has 2 infinity pools with sun lounges and umbrella’s right next to the pools. The resort also has an expansive lawn where there are trees to relax and unwind under. The view from the pools is quite spectacular with great views of the beach and Andaman sea. The guest rooms are 42 sqm (452 sq ft), but we hope you didn’t spend much time in them apart from to sleep.

We hope that you and your family enjoyed staying at the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort and hope you will come back in the future.

We chose Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort for our wedding after weeks of research looking at a number of alternatives in Krabi, Phuket and even Bali. Krabi was perfect as it was far more peaceful than Phuket with gorgeous surroundings, and another deciding factor was that this was the hotel featured in one of our favourite movies "Hangover 2". It looked beautiful in the movie but it was even better when we got there.

We have started communicating with their wedding planner Rewadee about 3 months before and she has always been responsive and helpful on e-mails. The wedding package was the best value for money with a lot of things included which meant we didn't need an external florist or a wedding planner in the end as we had everything we needed and more within this package. We didn't really expect too much when we arrived and in every way we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was upgraded to a suite with a hot tub, sea view and club lounge access even though we ordered a standard room. All rooms are recently decorated to a high standard. Whenever we needed anything, it was provided instantly. All of their staff were always smiling and helpful but Rewadee was the main person who made sure we were happy with everything from the minute we arrived. She briefed us on details, had every picture I sent her about flowers, cake and decoration printed off and arranged a rehearsal for the following day.

One of the highlights was that the night before the wedding, we were given a romantic dinner included in the package for the two of us but we wanted to include some family and friends. We were expecting to just go to the restaurant and have a nice meal but were taken to a private area by the restaurant lawn overlooking the beach; table was decorated beautifully and the food was absolutely delicious. The same quality of food was also provided at the wedding, which we paid extra but food of this quality at about 1000 baht per head, makes it incredible value for money.
The cake was included in the package and it was huge. I was also impressed how they decorated the cake just as I showed them in the pictures.

Another highlight was the couples massage/ facial at the spa which was also included in the wedding package.

On the actual wedding day, I have actually realised how much of a good choice we made with this place because being there in the middle of rainy season, we had rain most of the day which meant we had to rely on the efficiency of Rewadee and her team to make sure we had a back up plan and things went smoothly. After hours of waiting for the rain to clear, we got lucky for a very short time and managed to get our ceremony set up on the beach, when it started raining again we were already taken inside for the reception and dinner which was still a very nice venue.

Again thanks to Rewadee and a bit of luck, we even managed to release our lanterns and have fireworks.

After the wedding, we came back to our room to find a bottle of champagne with rose petals scattered on the bed with a lovely message from the hotel.

It is worth noting that if you are a Starwood Hotels member and have your wedding here or another Starwood Hotel, you get some bonus points. We got 15,000 points from having our wedding at Sheraton Krabi which we were able to use towards the end of our honeymoon as $210 credit at another Starwood Hotel. (It takes over 7 days for the points to register)

We could not thank the entire Sheraton Krabi team enough for everything you did to make our day and our wedding trip so special, especially Rewadee. She is definitely an asset for the resort. I cannot recommend this place enough if you are looking for a destination wedding that will provide you with value for money and a great wedding.

Dear “Aylin A”,

We hope that the lead up to the wedding was not as eventful as the “Hangover 2” movie. The Sheraton Krabi Beach resort was one of the locations for the movie “Hangover 2” and also for a Bollywood movie “Housefull 2”. It’s great to read that the team could assist in the planning of the wedding. Your kind words about khun Rewadee are much appreciated.

The food and beverage team are happy to hear that you liked the setup of the dinner on the lawn and that the food was enjoyable. Our pastry team good a good job and happy that you liked the cake that they prepared for your special occasion. The Mandara spa is a world renowned spa and they always seem to impress our guests with the quality of service, something that we are happy that you appreciated.

The weather is always a challenge during the rainy season and we are quite used to having a backup plan ready, just in case. It’s great that you still managed to have a beach wedding, release the lanterns and light the fireworks for your special day.

All the team wish you the best for your future life together and hope that you will return for anniversary’s.

Warm Regards,

Paul Tsuji

As the taxi pulled into the resort grounds, the first thing to hit you would be how big this place seemed. As we alighted, our luggage was held by the concierge and we were ushered to check in. Checking in was a standard affair, and I liked the lemongrass drink that were served along with a refreshing towel. We were then escorted to our room on a buggy.

The room was alright with ample of space. However, our sea-facing room did face the sea across a huge garden, so do remember, sea-facing does not mean sea view. Perhaps being a low season, our room didn’t seem too clean and toiletries were not properly stocked. A call to Housekeeping would fix that.

The resort, with its sprawling grounds, makes you feel in tune with nature amidst such peaceful tranquil surroundings. Being in Nature, though, comes with its price; you got to deal with nature’s little creatures like millipedes and mosquitoes, which may actually make their way into your room as well, probably because I stayed on a ground floor room.

Oddly, we also experienced several brief blackouts during the night.

Breakfast at Mangosteen was alright though I observed most of its service staffs would clear your empty plates along with the utensils on top of it, without asking and without providing you with a new set of utensils. Food selection was limited especially true if you are picky or don’t take pork. Room for improvement here.

If you head out on foot, Security will raise the barrier for you and greet you with a salute.

Great place to unplug oneself.

Room Tip: Enjoy a nice slow walk around the resort. Ask for room on higher level for a slightly better view.

Dear “BenTan21”,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort, we are glad that you could recharge your batteries during your stay with us. We are glad that you liked the lemongrass drink and the cold towel. The room size is 42 sqm (452 sq ft) not including the balcony. The rooms are set back from the Andaman Sea and there is a large garden in between. Sorry to read your comments about the cleanliness of your room and the amenities not being in place, we hope that housekeeping fixed this straight away for you.

Your comments about the food and service at breakfast is noted and we will look into this.
Krabi doesn’t have a stable power source and the resort has 2 large generators that start up within a minute for power outages. We do have a few power outages and this can affect some areas such as the fitness centre loses air conditioning the alarm clocks get reset, most of the other functions within the resort still work, the air conditioning in the guest rooms will not be affected by the blackouts.

Overall it’s good that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope that you will come again on your next vacation to Thailand.

Warm Regards,

Paul Tsuji
