“Perfect Beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

My wife and I stayed there for 3 nights in early December.

The beach is wonderful and the water is crystal clear. You probably seen some of the beach photos. In a nutshell, the beach is PERFECT at high-tide. The "not-so-nice" photos are those taken at low-tide, where the you will see rocks and stuff. Do not worry about it. You can walk very far out into the sea during low tide.

This is one of the best beaches I have visited. It is not crowded and there are also drink stalls and massage huts along the beach, offering alternatives to the hotel.

There isn't a lot of fish in the water because it is not near a reef. So you might not want to bring a snorkelling kit.

Getting there... Simply grab a taxi at the airport travel counter. Advanced booking not required. Prices are fixed and displayed so you will not get ripped off. Cost to get to Beyond is 700B. Journey is about 40 mins. If your cab driver transits at a "tourist counter" along the way and someone approaches you, simply say "I already booked my package with hotel".

Getting to Ao Nang from Beyond ... The shuttle service is 200B / pax return. I think it leaves at 5.30pm and returns at 9.30pm. It is enough time for you to walk up and down Ao Nang. If you take a taxi, it cost about 400B one way. There are taxi counters right outside Beyond, also with prices displayed prominently. You can haggle a little but the price is definitely fair. Tuk Tuk is also available. I opted for the Hotel Shuttle. Please remember to let them know in advance.

Food and Drinks ... The hotel breakfast is decent. I was felt it was pretty standard. The food at the Beach Bar is nice though. Try the fried rice, it is yummy although pricey. You must go for the Happy Hour (4pm - 5pm and 9pm- 10pm) where all drinks are half-priced. I was there every evening and night and tried every cocktail. Loved it! However, I was disappointed with the "Captain (Seafood) Tower". You will see the leaflet in the lift. Was not impressed with the freshness of the seafood.

Outside the hotel, there is a stretch of shops. There are convenience shops, massage shops and restaurants. The price of the food and goods are cheaper than the hotel but slightly higher than Ao Nang. However, the quality of food is better than those Ao Nang IMO. We tried "Bai Tong" and "Bann Thai". Both are strongly recommended! Bann Thai has good seafood which you can pick off the counter and they are also very honest and upfront with price. Bai Tong has very delicious stirred-fried dishes.

Massage... We didn't try the one in the hotel. We tried the one across the hotel. Note that although there are a few massage shops, they are generally the same... the staff move between the shops and the prices are very much the same too. We did a body scrub followed by a full body massage. The masseuses were polite and friendly. Overall very good value-for-money. We spent 900B / pax for the scrub and massage (2 hours).

Room ... Strongly recommended to get a room with sea view! We stayed in the Deluxe Sea View and it is PERFECT! Waking up to the horizon with the swimming pool just a few levels down. The room itself is very spacious. Comes with slippers too! (We didn't get to use our own slippers at all). If you booked the cottage, it is a short walk to the café and pool.

Other Tips... You can rent a canoe and paddle out. In some areas, you will see more fish. Bring some fish food / bread along and have fun. Please do your part by not polluting the water with "human food" that has been cooked. There are boat services for hired at the beaches along the hotel too. We didn't take any of the boat rides because we were not keen in snorkelling and felt the one at the hotel was good enough for us. =)

If you truly want to just enjoy the beach, this is the hotel to go for. Nice, quiet with shops around the corner. However, if you want an all-out-shopping trip, then this hotel is abit far out.

I will definitely come back again for short breaks and will eat at Bai Tong and Baan Thai, then have happy hour daily!

Room Tip: Get room in the main building. It is next to the café, beach and swimming pool

There could be so many to like about this hotel, but sadly it misses on the front of customer service.

The good bits:
Lovely décor of the rooms, esp the villas
Beautiful unspoilt beach
Large pool
Plenty of sun lounges

The mediocre bits:
Breakfast range is ok but not great
Generally food is average, nothing to rave about
Middle of no-where with over-priced transport to get you to the nearest town

The disappointing bits:
Unstable wi-fi connection in the rooms
Terrible cocktails
Can smell the drains from the first room they put us in
Really poor customer service at the front desk and via phone – as they say ‘yes’ but don’t seem to do anything about the issue you are complaining about e.g. we could smell the drainage from the room, I called guest services 3 times over the course of 2 days but nothing seemed to be done to rectify the matter nor did they update us. In the end, I had to go to the front desk and insist they move us to a room that did not smell
Christmas eve buffet was over-priced at 2,500 baht without any drinks – not even water was included!
The free meditation morning class was conducted by someone with limited English so we couldn’t understand her instructions and she refused to let us sit on the mats as they were only for massages – so had to try be comfortable and not fidget on the wooden floor – not easy

So all in all, a disappointing stay as they seemed more intent on making money and doing things for the convenience of the staff rather than the guests.

Next time I would stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: Check the room drainage system cannot be smelt for the ground floor rooms

We stayed at the hotel 12-16 December 2014 and were very pleased. This is a distinctly classy facility offering quiet and luxury environment and services at prices corresponding to the quality.
We had a room on the 2nd floor of the main building which was very clean, spacious and comfortable, ocean&pool view was wonderful.
A 500ml bottle of water per person is provided daily free of charge. Instant coffee and tea are available in the room as well.
Bathroom was separated from the room by a glass so this is a cute feature of the hotel interior ;-) but don’t worry, a non-transparent curtain is available so your privacy is secured ;-)
We also used laundry service and we were happy with it.
Make sure you bring repellents with you – both spray and in-room tablets with an electrical devise to use them because mosquitos are very active!
There is free wi-fi hotel-wide, quality allows video calls via internet with some interruptions but in general it works fine.
Breakfast is served at the café area with tables both in and outdoors. Variety of food is impressive, quality is high. They have espresso machines available which are rare for breakfast in most hotels.
2 large umbrellas are available in the room.
Sun chairs are available at the pool area only but that is ok since the beach is just a wooden staircase away 
The beach is big at low tide, quiet and far from crowdy, with clean fine sand. Water is crystal clear and very shallow at low tide.
There is a small island nearby that you can easily reach at low tide and make wonderful pics at sunset 
The hotel has a very nice park – lots of trees and flowers, birds singing and crickets chirping .
There isn’t much to do in the evenings so if you prefer the noisy and crowded places with bars and discos – you’d better try someplace else… this is definitely a place to relax!
There are 5 restaurants nearby, 2 massage rooms, 3-4 souvenir shops, 2 small supermarkets and 1 motorbike rent – I believe that covers it all! More shops/restaurants are located ~2 km away, in front of the Sheraton.
Entertainment tips – we would strongly recommend Phi-Phi islands tour (full day) and 4 islands tour (half day) both by speedboat. You can book them via a travel agency. We do not recommend doing these tours by longtail boat – they are very noisy and you will breathe the diesel fuel and smoke all the way – this combination give us a very persistent headache. Do try the longtail boats but for not more than 20 min.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on 3rd or 4th floor of the main building - ocean view is remarkable.

Nice place , modern and pretty but there are some faults that are not permitted for a resort like this , for example :
*no food service after 10pm
*you have to take the beach towels in your room , they don't offer it at the pool area or at the beach (there are different towels for it and for bath even thought)
* they don't offer personal shampoos , body lotion or soaps. They are inside pots and you use as you want but if you compare that at Sofitel they offer to the guests a L'occitane kit , it's very different.
*the pool closes very early

I stayed here with my wife for three nights and found the place truly relaxing and comfortable.

The hotel reception lobby had a great view of sea which i can not forget.

The room at the resort was spacious with all amenities. The breakfast service is also amazing and servicing alot of variety. The service level at the hotel was impeccable.

Another thing I liked here was the pool parallel to Sea offering great view and at the same time water temperature in the pool was just so relaxing. The beach of the hotel is clean and good for a stroll.

I would recommend this for anyone for a great relaxing time.

We are a married couple who traveled with our 2 adult children. After much research and reading numorous reviews, we decided to stay in this hotel.

Pros (Positive Points):
1. Sea View Rooms are quiet clean having good view of the sea & beach.
2. Ample sunbathing area around the pool.
3. Quiet big pool with maximum depth of 1.4 meters. Separate pool of kids.
4. Beach is just a few steps away from pool area.
5. Lush green area in the resort to walk around.
6. A small shop for your daily needs inside the resort.
7. Maintained and clean resort.
8. Lobby has an excellent sea view.
9. Buffet breakfast is reasonably good having good variety. But, some more items for vegetarians shall be appreciable.

Cons (Negative Points):
a. Swimming pool is not properly maintained. It is quiet slippery at some areas.
b. No door bell in the rooms. The boy keeps on knocking the room door… like forever…!
c. Traditional door locks in the room which does not live up to the standards of the hotel. And the worst part is that we had to struggle with the keys while taking it out!
d. Bed linens are not changed daily.
e. No bathtub in the bathroom.
f. No lock in the bathroom door. Privacy in the bathroom is compromised, as just a bath curtain is provided to make yourself not visible to persons in the room. A person from the room can easily see the other sitting on the WC or bathing from the ends of the curtains! Our 2 adult children (son & daughter) accompanied us in the trip, and due to this, they found it quiet embarrassing while using the bathroom.
g. Only one life available for guests in the sea view rooms wing.
h. Very dim lights provided in the room as well as in the bathroom. One cannot read in the bed (no reading lights as well!), and it was pretty difficult for me to shave in the bathroom due to poor lights.
i. Private beach of the hotel is quiet rocky with numerous pieces of corals scattered all over. It is not even suitable for walking barefooted, leave along bathing in it.
j. Only 1 side table provided in the room. No table or chair available for doing writing work.
k. Check out staff at reception was very rude. When requested to grant 2 hours late check out in view of my wife’s medical conditions, he bluntly asked for 1300 Baht for requested late check out.

Special Mention:
1. I forgot all my 4 passports in the Thai Airways (Thai Smile) aircraft while disembarking at Krabi, and came all the way down to the hotel. When this was brought to the attention of Mr. NOP (Senior Executive of the hotel), he promptly called Thai Airways and made all the efforts he could to get back our passports. The aircraft had returned to Bangkok with our passports in one of the pockets of its back-seat.
Within 3 hours, we got back all our 4 passports from Thai Airways which they sent back by another flight to Krabi..!
Hats off and a BIG salute to Mr. NOP…!!
Thanks to Thai Airways too…..
2. My daughter's birthday happened to fall on the day when we were in this hotel. The hotel staff took a keen notice of this of their own by observing in the passport, and presented her with a small but wonderfully tasty cake. Thanks a TON to the hotel staff...

i. The resort sits right on the beach having an amazing view of the ocean. The best view of the sea in from lobby of the resort. Nakamanda Resorts & Spa is just adjacent to this resort.

ii. For complimentary buffet breakfast, do not forget to take your room keys along. They insist no showing your room keys… otherwise no breakfast for you…! ;-)

iii. This is a reasonably big resort in size, but is somewhat scattered. The cottages are near the entrance of the hotel (with no sea view), whereas the sea-view rooms and the villas are on the beach side. You will have to take a bit of long walk if you opt to stay in either cottage or in villa.

iv. Happy Hours in the bar is from 4 to 5 pm and from 9 to 10 pm. Do discount on food.

v. Hong Island tour can be taken right from the hotel beach. Private long tail boats are available. One way time to reach the island is around 30 minutes. Charges for 2 perons – 2000 Baht; for 3-4 persons – 2500 Baht. On bargain you may get discount upto 200 Baht. Entry fee to Hong Island per person is 200 Baht which is payable separately on arrival at the island.

vi. Taxi to airport is available just outside the hotel at around 600-700 Baht.

vii. Ao Nang is around 17 kms from the resort, and tuk-tuk (sits 4 pax, but a bit risky due to its weak structure) charged us around 500 Baht for round trip (including waiting time for 2-3 hours). Once we took a taxi (Toyota Corolla) and we were charges 800 Baht (including waiting time for 2-3 hours). Tuk-Tuk stand can be located a few steps away on your left while getting out of the hotel, and the taxi stand is on your right. Ao Nang market closes at around 10.30 PM, and it is advisable to return to your hotel before 10 PM.

viii. A couple of massage centers and a popular food joint famous for its sea food is available just opposite the hotel. Household laundry is also available opposite the hotel, their charges being 80 baht per kilogram for washing & ironing, and 40 Baht per kg for ironing.

ix. Krabi – Night market can be visited on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays. It is live right from 6 PM to till 11 PM. Krabi is around 15-17 kms. To & fro by tuk-tuk is around 600 Baht, and by car taxi is around 900-1000 Baht. Famous for its liveliness and cheap products being sold over there.

This is an overpriced resort which should be rather rated a 3-star property in my view. At this price, plenty of other hotels & resorts are available is this area, Ao Nang, Ko Lanta etc having better facilities. The pictures shown in the reviews, especially the arial pics, seems to be misguiding.

Room Tip: Take a sea view room on the 4th floor for better view.

All and all a really nice resort. Far from all the hassle of Ao Nang very quite an relaxing. The pool is probably the best I've seen, the beach is not that great... I would recommend traveling to the more clean and preaty beaches around.
Do know that travelling around can be expansive as a ride to Ao nang costs around 400 baht per way, and there is no shuttle service from the hotel.
As for the room, personally i was a bit disappointed from the dlx room sea view, except from the amazing view we had no hot water (warmish at best after complaining) and the room was basic. The see-through shower is nice. The room was equiped with flippers and shoes as well as bath robes.
Breakfest is very good.
Spa prices are an outrage but plenty of massages out in the street also restaurants and laundry.
All the public areas are NOT air conditioned including the lobby and dinning room which can be a problem since temperatures can get very high.
