Let me start by saying I am not picky. I am usually a hostel and a backpacker hotel kinda guy. However this was the last leg of my groups 2 month trip throughout S.E Asia, and I booked it with the idea that we could relax before getting back to our hectic lives. I'll go down the list and name what I liked, and what I thought could use some improvement.
Rooms: Very Clean according to my standards, and absolutely beautiful. However, I booked a room with King size bed, and upon arrival they informed me that there were none available due to the amount of patrons staying at the hotel. Mind you I booked over 2 months in advance. So instead they pushed two twins together...okay i guess.
Restaurant: I usually don't eat at hotel restaurants because I can find better food for cheaper in the city. However after a long day of exploring sometimes it's nice to eat in. The food was good but a bit pricey as to be expected. However the service was absolutely horrible!! It was like pulling teeth to get the attention of a waiter or waitress. I recall on more than one occasion the waiter literally started walking away as we were still making a request for food and drinks! Were talking mid sentence and just walking away. I remember having a quick laugh and saying, "well I guess you just don't get a drink then!" I can remember standing there waiting to pay upfront, when I saw three people from the same table individually get up and ask where there food was after waiting for over an hour and if they could get some service. I too was not flattered with the wait time. We were literally waiting 20 minutes between drinks at times.
Hotel Staff: Were very nice and friendly and I would like to mention a younger women who helped my fiancee tremendously with booking bus ticket to Bangkok. Thank you very much! Now for the bad. Sometimes you would wait for twenty minutes wondering if they even knew you were waiting for their help at all. We spent the last 2 hours of our stay wondering if we could even check out due to there en-suite safes. The safe malfunctioned... no problem right just get the master key? They didn't have a master key for our safe. So after an hour and half of playing with it they finally had to drill our safe open. By that time we needed to check out immediately so we could catch our taxi at 12:00 that they booked for us. There was no rush service or an apology. We stood in line waiting to check out when they skipped me and intentionally helped another couple that got there after us. I later found out that they also had a taxi scheduled but for 1:00... thats fine... however as i recall ours was scheduled for 12:00, and it was already 12:00! Not that this matters but after peaking at the other couples bill I noted that I had spent 3 times the amount of money they did... I don't know why I was skipped?
High Pressure Sales: Avoid the sales pitch! They will charge you what I would pay in the States for a "special" dinner with some entertainment. I don't mind if you have a event and want to pitch it to me. However, one time is enough and I don't want to feel like I have to avoid you.
LAUNDRY LAUNDRY LAUNDRY ALERT!: They charged me 5000 baht to do two light loads of laundry! Thats 167.00 USD!! Their hotel costs roughly a 150.00USD a night in the high season! Do I even have to explain how ridiculous this is! For those who don't know the relative price of things in Thailand: I rented TWO scooters for an entire 7 day period for a 100.00USD! I bought dinner and drinks at your overpriced restaurant with bad service for 4 costing me around 90.00USD. I rented out a long-tail boat with a guide two go Phi Phi for 12 hours for 150.00USD. You mean to tell me that two light loads of laundry at your resort is worth the same amount of money to stay a night in your resort? Or worse any of the other things I just listed! I could of had my cloths professionally dry cleaned, and pressed for the same amount of money in the United States. It was especially annoying because the prices were not listed in the hotel room...must of forgot. My brother shirt was ruined. When trying to bring this to there attention, it was like talking to the wall.
Location: I'm sorry but your located on an industrial beach. Klong Muang is beautiful, but not where your located. If your expecting to walk right out and onto the beach this is not the right resort. We weren't bothered by this as we rented scooters as mentioned earlier, and were able to go wherever we wanted. However I thought I'd inform others that aren't planning to venture to far outside the area.
Pool: Was top notch, clean, and beautifully designed. However the pool bar was never opened. In fact it looked like it had never been opened... It wasn't staffed nor supplied. Perhaps bad timing on that one.
I never lost my cool. I always ATTEMPTED to get there attention but with nothing more than patience and a smile. I hate traveling with people who blow up and cause a scene. I avoid confrontation usually, and am easily pleased. After all... I stayed at a number of backpacker hotels and didn't complain once. The Elements had wonderful grounds, friendly people, and clean and beautiful rooms, but nothing more. Once again there service as I've summed up was ridiculous. I don't blame the little guy. Perhaps your not paying your staff enough to care. Perhaps they're not properly trained. Perhaps there running on a skeleton crew. I can't say what it is but my complaint isn't with staff it's with Management/ Owners. Your people are a reflection of your training, and how much you pay them to care. Apparently not enough.
All the rooms were very nice however the rooms looking over the pool provide less privacy due to the...
