A well known small restaurant in one of the most beautiful Italian medieval Bourg: Final Borgo in Liguria.
The setting is a medieval square just inside the thick walls surrounding the Bourg, and it's astonishing narrow paths.
Some of the buildings around the square were recently restored, adding even more romance to the place.
The real restaurant is a very tiny one on the right side of the square, with the entrance set just below the statue of a Saint (therefore the name "Sotto al Santo" - "Under the Saint"
They serve any kind of pasta: dried, fresh, gluten free and even Kamut, with a large array of sauces (around 30 recipes) to combine with.
Portions are really great, the pasta comes perfectly "al dente" and their desserts are to die for.
The only bad side is not a tiny one: they do not accept reservations, valuing a "first come, first serve" policy. Great if you're there around 7.00 p.m., less nice after eight, when the average waiting time in summer is one hour!
The bright side is that you can stroll around the Bourg during your waiting time or catch the "tartaruga express"(turtle express), a tiny train that will drive you around.
As I said, a great place if you like simple and tasty Italian cuisine, and with really affordable prices...in a stunning place!
