This was our first visit to South Shore, having traded one of our time share weeks to stay here. The resort is located off SR 7 (aka Central Avenue) along the south shore of Lake Hamilton, outside of Hot Springs, Ark....the condo units are located in blocks, with 12(?) units to a block--stacked three atop one another....our unit was the at the bottom (which required walking down stairs) but this was not a problem....we had a 2br/2ba unit w/full kitchen, fireplace, dining area, living room and covered deck....nicely furnished, very comfortable....the a/c unit really pumped out the cool air, which came in handy during a very hot and humid week...facilities at SSLR are limited--there is a pool, jacuzzi, tennis court, game room, exercise room, plus guests may check-out videos or books during their stay....a second pool and jacuzzi, located down by the lake, was closed--and appears to have been closed for some time....all units have lake views, but the quality of the views vary w/the units....our view was not particularly good, as it was obscured by trees--other units may be better...there are no restaurants on the property, however, you will encounter many restaurants along Central Avenue leading back into Hot Springs--local establishments, as well as national chains....if you plan to do your own cooking in your condo, grocery stores are only a few minutes away...much of downtown Hot Springs appears rather worn--as though the town has seen its heyday as a vacation center--but there were many tourists milling about on the weekend and the folks were friendly...this area is really geared for boaters and those who enjoy water sports....however, if you're looking for a relatively quiet getaway, to just unwind and do little, SSLR did fit the bill for us.
