This hotel is the worst i have ever been to. The place was scruffy and badly maintained, the staff rude, unhelpful and i like others could not get:
clean plates
cutlery
towels
drinks
food
The two pools were dirty and the rule at the adult only pool seemed to be : If you were a dominican or spanish speaking person from central america you and your kid were allowed to swim but the security gaurd instead of gaurding the perimeter from locals who had no business being there hid in the bushes and told well behaved non-dominican full price paying 12 yr olds to leave .
The sea and beach are dirty also with a very strong "sewage smell" most of the time. Be warned "dont waste your money stay well away" I went hoping to give my 12 yrs daughter a caribbean dream holiday we ended up having the "holiday from hell"

We were sold this destination as a 3 and 1/2 to 4 star resort. Preface: I am a 26 year old professional male. I do not cinsider myself to be a picky or spoiled traveller as I am used to hostels throughout Europe and accustomed to roughing it while interior camping. However, when going to an all inclusive resort, one expects basic ammenities such as water and electrivity and maybe even some decent edible food. The intermittent water and hydro combined with the brutal service, slop buffet, rock sea-grass filled beach make this resort a 1 - 2 star at most. Our payed for oceanview had a view of the street, including endless mopeds waking us up and a construction site.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY CRYING WOMAN IN ONE PLACE THAN IN THE PLAYA REAL LOBBY!

People were so upset with this resort they were literally in tears. I did not find one tourist couple who would return. Itravel 2000 and Sunwing as well as Red Seal vacations misrepresented this resort and in my opinion should never sell this trip to anyone. It was a local destination and it seemed that the one bartender was prejedice against non-locals. Getting a drink was a serious chore.

We new on the first night that we had to switch resorts. After arriving on Saturday night, and discovering the horror, we focuded on getting out of there ASAP. Our local Sunwing rep essentially gave us the run around and forced me to be very stern and pushy. We were finally able to move to another resort (Sunscape Casa Del Mar - Beautiful - go there instead) on the Monday evening once we paid an additional 200 for the switch and 50 for the cab ride. Of course 2 1/2 days were wasted at Playa Real. You better beleive that itravel2000 has it coming from me.

Bottom line: ignore all of the neutral to positive reviews for this place and go elsewhere. Spend the extra 200 bucks now and not after 2 wasted days like we did. You have been warned.
