first, I would like to comment that after hearing all the bad reviews, I was pleasantly surprised with Barceló Capella. Rooms did take a bit to get the rooms after checking in but we took the opportunity to eat, drink and explore. As usual we had a pair of swim clothes just in case and were able to change so we could start enjoying our vacation whether the rooms where ready or not, I love the Barceló brand and although this resort was not of the same quality as the others in that chain, it was still great for the money. The rooms could be night and day...we had an alright room while my sister had a huge room right next to us that was great, however we were not expecting 5 stars accommodations and did not mind the minor things since we were barely in the room. Although our bathroom did show signs of wear (broken tiles and door lock) all we were in there to shower (water pressure fine and hot water whenever we used it), etc. The A/C worked fine and bathroom towels were enough and did not have an issue with the beach towels either unlike what other had reviewed. The fridge was minimally stocked but you could find food and drinks until the disco closed so we only encountered a problem once or twice before we got smart and filled the drink containers that we brought with water and soda to be left in the fridge for when we needed. The food although not amazing was ok, we did not get sick at any point and we found stuff to eat each time that we visited the buffet. There were a lot of flies while eating and that was a bit annoying but it is to be expected and it cannot be helped. The a la carte restaurant however did not appeal to us as the choices were very limited for the all inclusive plates and the beef we had was very tough. Room service was unavailable late at night and pool area was small. The beach...it was beautiful, it was rocky at parts but if you walked further down it no longer was and that is also where you encounter less vendors and good shell picking area. We had to leave the beach area to avoid being constantly approached by the vendors but we understand that that is how they make they living however it did make it less relaxing, you literally had to play dead to be left alone. We did not encounter any unpleasant employees, everyone was very nice but maybe we didn't encounter any issues as we speak Spanish, I feel that there might have been language barrier otherwise but it still would not have come off as rudeness just lack of understanding as I saw with other visitors yet they were still able to communicate enough. We were there for the weekend and on Friday it did become busier with the locals but we found it to liven up the place although it did make it harder at the buffet but there was enough for everyone. The disco was nice even if just to listen to the music from the beach. The place was medium sized and it was easy enough to get to where you needed to pretty quickly, we were in building 3 as the newly renovated building 4 was closed down during our stay and found it to be very centralized. We traveled with a handicap person and everyone was very helpful in this regard. There is a store across the street which was very convenient for us. We did a day trip to Soana Island, that was probably the highlight of the trip. Check out was prompt even with the delay because of computer issues but we gave ourselves enough time so it was not an issue. we would return, it was worth the value we paid.
