Description: Tucked away in Plaza Ocean Dream, Yamazato enjoys a reputation for serving the finest Asian cuisine on the north coast. Those in the know, say it is "the spot" for Sushi in the D.R.!! Our handy location with a beautiful outdoor patio and fountain as well as the ample parking, makes it one of the better off beach locations in Cabarete. Enjoy the exceptional talent of chef LAOSAENG CHAIYAWAT (Yong) who has more than 15 years experience in Bangkok, Thailand and Haifa, Israel. Immerse yourself in the authentic cuisine of Asia. From classic Japanese sushi dishes to delicious Thai stir fries, everything is sublime and one visit is simply not enough. This fall our LUNCH SPECIALS changes with new offerings of classic Japanese dishes including Yaki Soba and Kai Su Don. It is the philosophy of Yamazato, to blend various Asian cuisines and constantly surprise! Another element that distinguishes Yamazato is the use of only the freshest of ingredients, many picked the same day from our organic garden. Our staff is an extraordinarily friendly bunch, as welcoming and helpful to first time visitors as they are to regulars. Eating out is one of life's greatest joys. At Yamazato it's about the whole experience, the setting, the service and most importantly, what's served up before you. Yamazato never ceases to surprise and amaze. With so many interesting dishes on the menu, it's hard to narrow down your choices but help is on hand. The super friendly waiters and Sushi Bar chef's are more than willing to share their suggestions. Yamazato is not only about the mouth watering food, the delightful courtyard with its lovely fountain is a beautiful setting for dining al fresco during the cooler months and when the heat proves too much you can take refuge in the air conditioned and authentic Japanese ambiance inside. For a great lunch, try our delectable "bento boxes", in each compartment you'll find a different treat. It's an exceptional value for your money. If you don't want to get into your car and drive to Cabarete, Yamazato will bring its culinary delights right to your home with free delivery in the Cabarete area. What better way to spend a beautiful Caribbean evening, dining on your terrace and enjoying Yamazato's wonderful Asian cuisine.

“Delicious and clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

The food is prepared perfectly and the restaurant is very clean. I'm not a sushi person but they have a lot of other options on the menu -- soup, tempura, noodles, fried rice, salads, etc. The prices are reasonable and you can sit in an air-conditioned little restaurant if you want to get out of the heat.

“Fantastic sushi for an incredible value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012 via mobile

My girlfriend and I love to get sushi wherever we go and despite being the only sushi restaurant in Cabarete these guys do everything right! Normally in the US we have to order 5-6 speciality rolls (for about $6-12/each) to have a full stomach. Here we did just that and had wayyyyy more than we could eat. Each roll had a minimum 8 pieces and some with 10 including the spicy volcano roll. Not only that but the rolls were PACKED with fresh fish not just little bits! Within 10 minutes of ordering they began to bring out our rolls and quickly we learned our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. The presentation is great (green caterpillar) but the spicy rolls were the best. Maybe it was because we came during the off season in May but these guys were great and even with 2 drinks and tip included our bill was under $60 US / $2,000 DR. Highly recommend as a place that any sushi lover will enjoy!
